When is Amtrak & Metro North gonna get rid of those cheesy "cattle cars" they both use and come up with something better? I remember the old Amtrak RTL's. They were a nice, comfortable ride and New Jersey Transit & the LIRR have both been using bi-level cars fro years. When is Metro North gonna finally get a clue that those Bombardier cars they use suck?
Amtrak won't and can't get rid of their Amfleet cars, due to the fact that their Superliners cannot fit in the Penn Station tunnels. The Superliners are larger than the LIRR and NJT multilevel cars. That is why they have the Viewliners for long-distance trains such as the Lake Shore Limited and the Silver Meteor. The Amfleet cars are used for intercity rail operations. However, Metro North can get rid of their single level cars due to the cars aging and low quality. If Metro North were to use multilevel cars, they would have to use the same stock as the LIRR multilevel cars. It should be easy, due to both railroads being owned and operated by the MTA. However from my experience, the double decker cars on the LIRR are pretty uncomfortable and they can't go that fast, so if Metro North were to use them for their trains to Poughkeepsie, the trains would be slower, and they would have to utilize a second GE-P32AC/DM on the rear of the train.
Cool catches! I'll probably be heading up to Metro-North soon.
Thanks and nice
Great video! All three locations are fantastic spots for train photography.
Thanks and it was good
...and videoagraphy
I'm going to head to Manitou/Peekskill this weekend too!
Amtrak and metro north 😃
10:57 Mr clean on the left
223, an absolutely devastating horn! Gotta love it
Yep
The P32ACDMs are my favorite because they aren’t like any of the other GE Genesis locomotives.
Nice catches anyways and good horn action
Thanks
Your welcome and btw do you have Xbox 360
No I have a PS3
Nice catches!
Thanks
Great video!
Thanks
wtf was that 0:36
at 5:44 nice catch!!
Thanks
Wow lirr should have genesis engines...
No they really shouldn't
Why
I was at Strasburg rr today and I heard lirr 39 whistle it was beautiful
Because they can't fit the cars of the LIRR and they are not made with it
I should buy a caboose and put it in my backyard I live in bay port
No freight trains
There are but they're on the other side which it's the River Line
Ah the P42 and it's little brother
They're all P32AC-DM's that run on the Hudson line

Have you heard metro north is probably gonna release SC44 charger locomotives?
The use of either a tripod or at least a monopod would have made this a more watchable submission!
Well I have a tripod which I only use it out of state
