Let me tell you, I've seen a dark blue Yaris under a very intense summer sun, and I just couldn't believe my eyes, it just left me speechless, it's gorgeus.
My wife has had the Excel model for 12 months. It sits on 17 inch wheels which give a harder ride than the lower spec 16 inch models which we test drove. The interior in places is built down to a price and I find the quality of some materials disappointing. Like yours the drivers door was a poor fit and went back for adjustment. The 16 inch wheel models get marginally better fuel economy. The excel in warm weather gets 74 mpg and in the winter 62mpg. Yes the cold does make that much difference. Maureen traded in her Audi TT convertible for this, as she wanted an auto box. Despite the negative comments my wife loves the car, nippy, handles well and she would have another. Hers is in white with a black pan roof and light grey interior. Looks good.
The Mazda 2 version of this Toyota gets 15 inch alloys on bottom two models, and that makes a big difference for comfort. Big alloys and firm ride in a small hatchback is appalling design choice by Toyota. Ive tested the Yaris and felt every bump so id get the Mazda.
5:08, youre in the car, not on it - spot on. thats one of the best things about my yaris hybrid. i love that cavelike feeling - being a part of it, instead of just sitting in a car. and that is a rare wonderfull feeling, i cant remember i have had in a car before.

I believe the reason why the Yaris is only offered with a hybrid powertrain in the UK is because there wouldn’t be enough demand in Britain for the normal, ICE-only 1.5 petrol version that is sold in other markets where the Yaris is sold.
A decent stereo will kill that wind noise especially them Neds that pump out the bad stuff as they tootle along on the fast side of the speed limits. I'd say it is an impressive car and I might go as far as think about changing my Fiesta for one of them, depending on the exchange rates given.
Most entertaining car reviewer I've seen whilst looking for review... bit more on the tech and shots of dash etc would have been good and to hear the JBL system if that's any good but proper entertaining... good work!! :)
We've had ours for about 4 months now, a great car in it's class. We are getting just under 66MPG with around town driving only. My only gripe being that the infotainment can be fussy over which phone you are trying to connect with. You need Android v.10 or better to get Navigation, then not all phones will pair. Other than that, I would highly recommend it. No need to compare with other makes.
On balance it probably is. It's the first new car we've ever bought. We bought it as my wife is learning to drive in a Yaris. Our other car is a seven year old Lexus is300h.
It's like the i3 and the i8. One if them is the halo car that rakes in attention, and the other is the actual seller that the company needs to lower its fleet emissions with.

Well in free Cyprus, the yaris comes with 10 speed automatic transmision with manual mode. Also they also come with 125hp and 155nm, quality I can surely say seems better than this one, with leather seats as well and tons of customizations to it's interior and outside.
Really a 10 speed automatic?? That’s very unheard of in general let alone in a small car like the Yaris. The Volkswagen up for example only came with a 5 speed ASG as there apparently wasn’t enough room for a DSG. (I’m not doubting you, I’m just fascinated and interested)
@@sander493 Believe me I know it's unheard, but I can easily prove it as well. Many people I told this were like "10?? For real? Wtf?". They are short after 4th but they are still there and very usable if you want to gain speed! I also installed (simple mod) a cold air intake and the sound is really good as well while changing gears and accelerating.
2 cents about this Yaris I see around town - the design language is a much more tasteful "polarizing" compared to the Prius, I see a lot of Aygo design - and the Aygo is the best looking car in Toyota's lineup (supra be damn ugly) The other cent, Toyota purpose built the Aygo for "European" market "tastes" which make redundant the Prius C/Aqua from our reach , a car that is very popular as a used Japanese import. The new Aqua looks mint in a way that can charm James May's trousers , and it comes with a new "bipolar battery" which in lay men's that a lot of the copper connectors that string the battery modules in series are removed, providing a hybrid battery that can charge and discharge stronger and easier. So that Aqua is already a better and more responsive drivetrain than what we will get in the Yaris for the next 5 years.
Halfpence: these new Yarises dwarf the original Yaris which 6ft me can sit in the back of. It's a larger car than a VW Polo. That's pretty sad. Where's our goddamn hybrid Aygo/C1/108?
Of course it’s better than the Ecobomb, fords reputation for reliability as of late is shambolic due to the awful wet belt design.. you’d have to be an absolute fool to choose a fiesta over the Yaris.
😃If you are in normal mode driving in town ,you will never ,ever getting 80 mpg, it's normally always approx. 40 - 55 mpg . , YES. if you driving like in SNAIL Mode ,then you can get about 78 mpg, but this is on speed about 15 - 20 MpH . YEs and this is an TRUE. 😜
You do know that Mini isn't actually that good. Also Mini is much larger although BMW is always trying to push it in to smaller class. Fiat 500 is far better choice - and waaaay more reliable and cheaper to run. BMW 1.6 petrol engine is the the worst thing made in past 20 years, avoid it at all costs. But yes new Yaris outside looks great, shame about interior.
Love Toyota, but new Yaris looks great but fit and finish is built down to a price. Doors close with a "clang" like a 1990's Fiesta. Built too cheaply for a 20k plus car. Toyota should be building these in Japan to improve quality. Even the new Dacia Sandero (although not as capable as the Yaris) is better built. By the way a similar spec'd Yaris in Australia is 4k cheaper than the UK. We are being ripped off.
The Yaris is a car that I would never buy (for my personal taste). But it’s a good car for broke people and for that reason I respect it. Toyota is doin great 💮🉐 PS: those Japanese emoji means excellent and valuable which is accurate, I think

Yaris is way ahead of all competition because of its unique hybrid drive train , only full ev can deliver better efficiency or performance.
What percentage inaccuracy would you allow for the dashboard mpg read‐out figures...?

@@tectorama we have had 2 Aygos in the ten years, my daughter drives it now. The née Aygo looks great but no hybrid option.
Maybe the car is so economical to drive, they didn't think there was a point in having a hybrid ?

Well Japan is RHD, and so is the UK. This gives them an edge in ergonomic design for British people, especially compared with the French stuff

Probably because of emission norms they sell only Hybrid in UK
