  • Winter fishing SUCCESS! After getting skunked two days in a row, I broke the streak fishing a reservoir in New Jersey. The water was near freezing, and the fish were finicky, but we managed to coax a few into hitting our baits by matching the hatch and fishing painfully slow...
    Big thanks to BFJ for lending me his GoPro footage so I could still show you guys this exciting day of winter fishing :D

    It's all about light line, small baits, and slow presentations when the water get cold. Most of the time however you may only catch 3 but they will be hogs. It's cold but it's worth it.

    Weigh the fish in a weighing bag, as the backbone of the fish will take damage weighing it vertical, as the fish is long and heavy , just a tip.:)

      Pickerel are different from pike. I know quite a few people that target northern pike but no one that will go for pickerel. Most are pretty small and they get their slime everywhere.

      Baas up where I am in Canada, and pike fishing is actually so much fun, they put up a great fight, and decent to eat, pickerel are smaller, nor nearly the size of the pike

    • @EelayInsay
      @EelayInsay 7 років тому

      Baas they were catching pickerel. The reason people don't like them is because they are usually small, but fight hard enough to make you think you have a 3lb largemouth on. But mostly because they are so slimy, and difficult to hold because of it. Also the teeth.

    Vertical jigging a spoon in winter will catch most any fish bro. Of course you'll have to figure out what color and size works best for your area. Great videos.

    you guys have to go north of michigan into Canada for tons of smallmouth,walleye and monster Pike!!! seriously you have a strong chance at 50inch pike that are at least as wide as a football! I remember been there many times and not only is it beautiful it's a fk'ing blast!!!! ✌🖒
