I’ve never seen even one actual owner complain about the multi functional capacitive buttons.
And I’ve never accidentally turned on my heated steering wheel in the 8 months I’ve owned my car.

Love the fast review, personally a top spec gti would be perfect for me, Im hoping ventilated seats and heated steering wheel come to the uk fingers crossed 🤞 hope there’s a HUD too
I was getting a bit worried about the VW Golf design for a bit. I previously owned the 2008 version and l was shocked by the facelift design after that version. It just looked so……..plain. They’ve pulled the 2024 design out the bag and have even made me consider the Golf again on my list of what car to purchase next. It looks that good. Bravo VW for finally waking up again.

I am very interested in this updated Golf. Especially the PHEV which does some 60 miles on Electric. When do you hope to road test the updated car Nick? Thanks for the very useful update.

I always liked the VW scirocco than the Golf the old one that is . Used to have the old scirocco storm GTI with blue leather interior, lovely car, don't think they make it any more. The Golf looks ok, think if I had a choice I'd pick a Mercedes AMG 45 over a GTI. Like a few comments I'm not a fan of the screen. It looks like an after thought and just stuck on the dash. Why don't they somehow make it flush to the dashboard. Its not just VW who are guilty of this, a few car makers do the same. Not a fan.

Glad you enjoyed the video! I guess it’s a balance with screen placement, screens will always protrude from the dashboard on smaller cars otherwise you’ll be looking down in the car when driving.
Having said that though, it’s certainly very crisp and easy to see contents of the screen!
Hopefully I’ll be able to check it out in the future!

Great exterior design! The interior has potential, but it doesn't look cohesive enough.
I called my VW dealer a couple years ago and cancelled my order because I couldn’t do the Haptic Touch steering wheel, and purchased an Elantra N instead. I am now ready to get a GTI

I’ll be keeping the GLA45 with its under the radar looks and 381hp. Not bad for a now 6 year old car.
Well VW have had a faster version called the R.
Like on the previous model Volkswagen Golf R but from what I’ve seen most manufacturers don’t release their sportier version until later.
To clarify I don’t know if VW are going to release anything this time round but we’ll have to see! Last version was 320PS!

@npoleary No worries & thanks for getting back to me can you actually order these now in the UK or is there going to be a launch in the UK before you can order one?? 🤔 Even tho I would test Drive one first but if you go onto vw website you can't actually spec on up??🤔🤷♂️
No I don’t think ordering is available yet but hopefully soon, give it a few months and then ordering should be live! (That’s usually the timeframe for most manufacturers)

I am a GTI enthusiast having had a mk3,4,5 and 8. The first thing I would be doing if I had that 8.5 would be to take the GTI bages off the doors. Who thought of that ?? A real pain in the ass when polishing.

@@npoleary The 8 to be fair. If it hadn’t had the crap infotainment system and sensors in the steering wheel that kept throwing up errors. I was waiting on my 3rd replacement steering wheel when I finally thought enough was enough. Also having to have the engine cover removed in case the car caught fire didn’t fill me with much confidence. However, as a driving car, it was simply superb.
When is the release date for the new GTI?
I’ve heard rumours it might be soon but nothing officially announced from VW yet. If I hear anything I’ll post about it!
If the GTE is sold here in Canada I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Sigh... The best PHEV car we can get is the Prius Prime which has only 70KM electric range. Even though the new Prius is a great looking car in its own right, I prefer the VW iconic boxy style. The GTI is like the Porsche 911, retaining their original shape but still look good after all these years.

Cockpit looks horrible….that big screen is awful. Can’t believe their market research said this looked great. Shame.
When you’re sat there in person it’s quite impressive! Sadly only had a short time with the car so couldn’t check it out fully. Hopefully that’ll be later in the future!

What the point of such an massive 13” Inch screen in front of you, when you can’t get an clear view of the front windscreen (blocking the view) big screen are just awful 😣 and dangerous (view is restricted 🚫) I hope 🤞🏼 the 10” Inch screen is much smaller so you can have an better view ahead
Each car review in the 2020's spends far too much time looking at internal and externals LED's than is necessary. WTF.

No its awful. A few years ago we went from the Polo to a Golf then the Tiguan R-Line. We went to buy another Tiguan but it was all touch screen, a dangerous combination in a car. We bought a Mercedes GLB instead with touchscreen, voice and BUTTONS yes VW buttons. We have just ordered a 24 plate CLA , another Mercedes, didn't bother with the VW Golf as no buttons. I also know several people who also said, love VW but hate their new system so won't be getting one.
I was chatting with VW and from feedback they’ve invested heavily in this new system. I’ve used it in another car and it’s so much more fluid and faster!
I’ve already reached out to them to check it out so keep your eyes peeled! Hopefully I’ll make an in-depth video about it! Would be a few months though when the Golf arrives I’d imagine but I’m working on it!

Facelifts are always slight upgrades 🤓
Usually bumpers, lights and multimedia systems, like a mid cycle upgrade.
Think all manufacturers do a similar thing!
has it got knobs and buttons,NO,has it got draws in centre cons and under seats, and a slider over cup holders,NO, is there a Gass strut to hold bonnet up,NO,can you buy a 2.0ltr tai 150 bhp manual,NO,THE HATED
INFO SCREEN IS STILL TO HIGH UP IN YOUR FACE,AND NOW ITS EVEN LARGER,IF THIS IS UNRELIABLE AS THE LAST ONE,LIKE US YOU WILL BE DRIVING ROUND WITH NO AIR CON SAT NAV OR PHONE,everthing is on that screen when it clocks out you are in trouble the dog box is the worst we have tried,merc bmw ,ford, and Lexus and Toyota are far betters loved golfs, but not the stripped out cheapens one they make now

The new facelift A45s sounds a lot better than my current A45s.

Agreed. They took the radar from there in the mk7 as they were always getting damaged with stone chips etc and put it behind the VW badge on the mk8 which I think was a good move. To move it back down again to accommodate a stupid bling illuminated front badge I dont think was the way to go.
