    I bought this driver a few years ago. The first thing I thought of was how loud it was going to be, and she didn't disappoint. I took it to the range the first day and about 10 people were there. The first shot was like a metallic explosion compared to any driver. Every golfer at the range looked my way. It's like being at the gun range and everyone is shooting 9 mils and .40 cals and you bust out the Dirty Harry .44 magnum, shoot one round and everyone bends backwards to see who is firing what hand cannon. It's great fun. I also put it on the FlightScope with my instructor and we couldn't get numbers worth a damn. You have to hit that thing dead center to make it go straight, or get lucky with a gear effect on a toe hit. It now adorns the wall of the man cave as a conversation piece, because that's what it is.

      dude! I know nothing about clubs, but i came here cuz i plucked that driver up and hit it at the range for the 1st time today... 1st hit went only 130 yards, but it sounded like i blasted it over the fences lmaooo.

    I want to see you compare older irons to newer irons while using a shaft that fits you. This way we can see the difference between the models and how much "better" the new ones claim to be. If you've already made a video on that topic let me know! Great vlogs!

    • @alwhyte6533
      @alwhyte6533 6 років тому

      There aren't many differences in irons from say, the late 90's compared to now. The rules won't allow it in case of giving one player an advantage over others. I personally have a set of Taylor Made blades from the 90's and I can't tell the difference between them and Taylor Made clubs from now. I hit them as sweetly, and around the same distances. I actually prefer the old ones as I seem to strike them better, or it feels better anyway! Seem to get much more spin too...

    • @gaustang4me
      @gaustang4me 5 років тому

      Rick did a video where he played a round with Ping Karsten I irons (3I to Wedge + putter). He said he was about 10 yards shorter on average and the clubs weren't as smooth through the grass. But he was getting good backspin and he seemed to really enjoy playing with them (then again, how bad can it be playing golf and making golf videos for a living). Here is a link to the video, in case you want to view it: ua-cam.com/video/2cQvqLtCPKE/v-deo.html I believe Rick said the irons were 5 years old (circa 1969 or so).

      Got some titelist dtr there about 20 years old still the same grips, don’t really use them now but the wedge is gold, I have never hit another wedge as good as I hit this one, it’s in my bag to this day, the rest are Taylor made blades but I may invest in some titelist.

  • @doug1lau1
    @doug1lau1 6 років тому +5

    Rick, I think you need to run a little segment on nothing but odd clubs, top to bottom of the bag... probably nothing we want to play, but entertaining nonetheless! I saw this monster sand wedge at a sports secondhand store the other day, and it must have had a head twice the size of a normal wedge. It was stupid looking, yet, I really wanted to try it just for the heck of it!

    Rick's reaction to this driver is basically the way we reacted to titanium drivers when they came out in the 90s. The original Great Big Bertha, the Taylormade Burner, and especially the Ping ISI Titanium. They looked cartoonish. And they weren't close to even 460cc.

    A guy in my golf group ( usually around 12 or more guys every day ) uses a driver that is 590cc if I remember correctly and has used it for 5 or so years, we don't really care all that much. He does seem to hit the ball off the tee much better with it than anything else, but he is 75 years young and if he hits it straighter and a little longer than others, we don't care. The rest of us just hit standard stuff, so in some instances oversize equipment might help a person here or there / now and then. Great video post Rick, thanks.

A playing partner of mine is adamant that the heavier the better. Could you imagine the noise on the golf course if everyone was using drivers that loud? Haha The practice range would sound like a constant artillery barrage going on all day. And so much for the "Quiet Please" signs at Tour events, when everyone on a golf course could hear it when anyone hit a driver off the tee at any hole from anywhere on the golf course lol. 😂

    I had a 400cc Integra non conforming driver. There was a tree 300yards away in my driving range and I used to hit it on the fly. It was fun seeing the reaction from the other golfers. Caved the face in less then a year. Fun while it lasted.

    It is big, and loud pass me the ear plugs ☺, it looks like the sort of club that use to be advertised in the back pages of some golfing magazines years ago, like the Force 1 Power Driver from National Golf Centre, they were aimed at the average golfer, offering massive improvements in their game, it might be interesting to see how a mid handicapper like Rob might hit it

    You need to get out some and look at the golf technology out there. I used to make my own clubs and there has been 750cc heads out there for 20 years. And you cannot swing it like a normal driver, longer tee and move it forward in your stance and swing HARD! You are not going to miss the ball. I used to hit my 460cc driver 320-340 carry. The 750cc I could hit almost 400 yards. The COR is around .875 while a legal club has a COR .830. Should be equal to about 30-40 yards when swung hard. They have technology right now where if a touring pro hit it they would routinely drive it 400 yards plus. It would render some of our favorite courses obsolete if allowed. And the harder you swing the big club the straighter the ball flight.

    A bit on the heavy side but I never miss the ball.

      Greg gray i recommend going and getting fitted. They will get you the right legnth, flex and club offset. Then I suggest trying all brands to see witch feels best. Some places charge for a fitting but will wave the fee if you buy from them

    Rick, can you do comment on if the sweet spot is bigger? More forgiving? Suitable for higher handicappers/ seniors?
    Maybe make a video having amateur golfers play with it? I hope to see why this club was made. There mist be a reason for this large head, obviously not geared towards pros.
