Really interesting results Michael, I must admit I didn't get round to trying Mars. The animation looked really cool and amazing how much detail you were able to bring out with the ADC and sharpening thru software. Nice work 👍👍
Hey Ollie, Thank so much pal! :) You should definitely try with your cool C9,25 if possible. It's really cool to see Mars. When processing my first Jupiter images early this year I neglected the post-processing (after Registax) in Pixinsight or another software. But this really can further highlight some details. And it's amazing, how the look of the whole image can change by slight adjustments...Personally, I also like the details (using my "only" 127mm scope) but maybe I should have leave it a little more grainy, little less denoising. I bought my son the Nexstar 127mm SLT and he is going crazy with it since I showed him the Omega Centauri globular cluster or C80. We live at 32 degrees Latitude.
When I'm using a long focal length Maksutov I do not use a Barlow, I may screw off the lens from the Barlow and screw it onto my eyepiece depending on the image I get. I push my scope to only 75% of double aperture to start. If I get a sharp picture I will zoom in with my camera rather than over-magnify. To much sky turbulence when I over magnify. I now just use my 150mm Newtonian F5 750mm focal length. I had my mirrors re-aluminized to 96-97% and refigured my primary to 1/12th wave at .98 Strehl. I'm not even into astrophotography, I just want a good view. I live 30 minutes from Bortle 2 skies where I usually go. I am 90 minutes from Bortle one, but that is for really good seeing conditions.

Is this a good scope for beginners? What can you see with it? I’ve been getting a lot of negative feedback on this scope because of its small focal point.
Hi. Depends what you are interested to look at. For planets its really great. If you are interested to go for deep sky objects like Andromeda galaxy or planetary nebulae for example I would rather go for a newton (mirror) telescope because this one has a quite highe f number of 11,8 (focal length 1500mm/ aperture 127mm) which makes the image let`s say appear darker. So you would need a long exposure time for the dark appearing deep sky objects. I really like this telescope, it's just something I would take into account. Pro is you have an easy star align method included, it's still portable and you have a go to function. I hope that helps. :) Thanks for watching & clear skies
Hi, yes, in the beginning it's quite overwhelming and seems very complex. But if you watch some youtube videos you will find the basic functionalities very fast. I would say it's definitely worth the (high) price. I highly recommend the software. :) I'm using the ZWO ADC. Clear skies
In this video I used my ZWO Asi 385 MC camera. (4:17 , 6:04) That's the first ever astro-dedicated camera I owned. And it's still the planetary camera Iam using. It's relatively cheap and has high frame rates and low noise. As far as I know this one is no longer available as new since there is a successor for this model. The 585 MC. As far as I know and heard it's even better and still relatively cheap. (You can also do some deep sky astrophotography with it) I also thought about replacing my 385 by this new model. Good morning my friend! Do you know how long the 8 batteries last? I'm thinking about buying 8 rechargeable Duracell batteries, but I don't know how many hours they will last. And I need this idea to know whether to buy 8 batteries or 16 batteries (their price is high!)

I use mine with just a normal usb power bank, with a 5V -> 12V usb adapter cable, that has a barrel power plug. Power bank must output like 2,5A because 1A at 12V is 2,4A at 5V.
I just bought the 127 slt and whenever I look at Mars it just looks the same as if I were to look at it with the naked eye. slI can’t see any detail and whenever I turn the focuser it looks like a weird circle of whit light with a black hole in the middle
Hi, it's difficult for me to judge without more details. For me it seems like you are potentially out of focus. Try to adjust the focusing knob on the telescope. I would first try to focus on a distant earth object like a house, tree etc. And I would try it first without a Barlow lens...(using it will also significantly change your focus). The donut with the black center is outside of focus. Both sides of focus, in and out, will show this. If you can't see Mars clearly, it is out of focus, and you have too long a focal length eyepiece. You will need 10 mm or less. But the air above the scope, the atmosphere, must also be still and not turbulent or layered. 'Seeing' is often the worst part of any session with a telescope. Really great nights, where you can use a good quality 7mm eyepiece to see great and large views, happen maybe once or twice a year. The seeing has to be perfect. Also, Mars is sometimes close to the Earth, and sometimes it's on the other side of its orbit and far away, meaning it's angular size, even in the scope with high magnification, will be small. So, you need good or great seeing, quality eyepieces, the right eyepiece for the view, proper focus of the eyepiece (focus it on the moon first or on a star until you get a small dot with just a few spikes), and small planets, or more distant ones, will seem small because they are very far away.
