Merry Christmas to you too Alem! Thank you for the analysis! I hope you get to see and hear me perform live one day. I think improved a lot since FBB23, so I look forward to performing infront of you one day
Thank you very much, I can't wait to hearing your beatbox on live. I just try in my video to understand why the judges didn't choose you. Your sound quality and your musicality are really nice! Merry Christmas!
I can understand some of Alem's comments about energy levels, that this elim needed some break/change from the main motive, but there's still no way that Alexhinio's elim passed (it was also that high) and Stitch didn't.
Originality has to be the highest score for Stitch. We had so many technical spammers, that this elim is a breath of fresh air. After hearing everyone's elim, Stitch had to be in, just in my opinion. The stupidest critique was: "he sounded too much like River". River passed at first place in elims. It just doesn't make sense.
because the straccture was similar to rivers elim last year ?thats why one of the judges said that ,river ranked first because obviously it was miles better in every aspect then stitch and it was convincing that his style can be battle style too which stitch lacked on his elim not saying stitch elim was bad tho,but im sure if he wasn’t first he would’ve been in
@@a1j_1 How was the structure similar to Rivers? Many people are reiterating structure, when in fact there is no similarity in the structure. River had a 4 min cohesive song with the same motif. Stitch started with singing a Billie Eilish song, showing his signature sounds, then going into the main song with the drops there.
@@a1j_1 I did. As soon as Stitch said one judge said he sounded similar to River. I knew it was GBB 21 as River was more aggressive that year. So it must be last year and the structure is not similar at all. Last year River faced the same allegations as people said he sounds too much like Gene. I think it's just the curse of musical beatboxers, that there are so few of them that using similar techniques will get you accused of copying.
I think stich did a great routine for a showcase but not an elimination. but i do like how he keeps it original and doesn't do thing to please the masses like most of the beatboxes these days.
No, a showcase would have all your rounds and elims etc. Any recent showcase for eg Jairo, River, Colaps even Dlow for eg have both battle rounds and elims. Eliminations need not be battle rounds, some artists do, but it just needs to show the best of what you can do.
I think the fundamental problem with Alem's reactions are that it is not approaching with the thought of let me judge this objectively. No. As Alem himself says many times, "let me try explaining to you why Alexinho is 2nd" and "Let me explain why stitch is not top 8". It goes with the mindset that Alexinho's best details will be emphasized and every problem of Stitch's will be emphasised.
I'm very interested to see your reation to your partner, Alexinho. Alex getting 2nd place makes NO sense to me. It's the most I've ever disagreed with the judges. Alex was at the bottom for me and everyone I know. Thanks for your analysis!
I think that in championships like this you have to engage with people's common sense. A cool example: in the loopstation battles of this event, some hardcore beats arrived that were really pleasing. It may not have been in previous GBBs, but the genre was a trend on social media. Stitch didn't go through a lack of skills, but a concrete lack of expectations. Big up Alem and Stitch! 🎉
Merry Christmas Alem! 🌲 One point I agree that I don't like much about this elim is that it gets a little repetitive after some time, but I still think that this is small in the whole that he built in this composition, which I love. Maybe the judges thought otherwise, maybe they wanted more energy, idk. And yeah, seeing it live is different from seeing it on video, so you can understand why this wasn't in the top 8 (even tho I still completely disagree hehe)
Okay, I am both surprised and not at all to hear this kind of analysis from you Alem. I think there is a true fracture in the community in agreement about what the point of beatbox at these events is. You are talking about this only from the perspective of showing the judges your beatbox skills, instead of creating a piece of music and performance to stand on its own. I think that's not what Stitch and others thought the assignment was. Why accept Stitches wildcard even if this is what the critique will be of his Elim. Your suggestion that there must be an upbeat and energetic connection to the crowd is great, but certainly not the only connection possible to a piece of music. Anyway thank you for your perspective, I hope I don't come off too preachy, just trying to explore my feelings on the subject.
Thank you for the comments Alem... So informative. Hope that Stitch will be more more better next time. But I understand why Stitch is not in top 8😅. Maybe it's not just up to this year standard yet. I LOVE YOU STITCH❤❤❤ you too Alem😚
So amazing Alem u say U don't know if stitch is in top 8 yet DLow placed him at 2nd place, interesting to see how different judges see a performance, just shows how different they judge things
I think both Alex and Stitch should've qualified. Alexinho shows so much charisma and calmness, very fun to watch. Stitch, for me, had a great structure. Every restart introduces more sounds and difficulty, but maybe the opening had too much wow factor and that made the rest of the elim fall flat for some people? With the amount of counters in battles this year I think it would've been awesome seeing Stitch and his unique palette of sounds get through
In the future, beatboxer may be separated from the competition first. Musical singing group, bass group, drum group, the champions of each group will come to compete again.
Beatboxing doesn't always need to be a "*Oohh !!! olalala*" moment. Stitch chose this style and while it's not power snare spam with click roll drags it's a very beautiful approach to the art of beatboxing. And what this judging panel told us this year is that this style of Stitch is not welcome in GBB. Simple as that.
I find Wing is very comparable to Stitch but the difference I find with Wing he knows when to increase the Power or BPM to keep the listeners attention. He had more song with groovy drumma which keep you more engaged, 4min is too long for a whole Stitch song
I think we should choose the person who can do interesting battle in elimination because we visit GBB to see great battle, not great showcase (I love the showcase tho, of course.)
love you and all bro but instead of justifying judges' decisions, you thought, why on the earth he didn't even pass the elims while he deserved it ?! It is the same situation as Elisii in GBB 2019. He was first at the night and he didn't pass. Wouldn't be better if we criticise the judges decision instead of trying to forcely justify that ?!
@@never1163 well edm is such an outlier compared to every other genre because it captivates listeners so much more. its almost like they look for more in music compared to other genres
@@never1163There is a difference this year though. Most years people talk about someone being robbed or the winner of a battle. All of them are with the objective of getting someone in. This is the only year in my memory people actively want somebody to not even be in or at the least be in the bottom half of the top 8.
My reasons that I had Stitch at 9th: - very long intro (dragged out too much) - placement sometimes felt random (especially towards the end for me it just feels like he does some sound, pauses, liproll, pause, wadada etc with no real structure) - I personally dont enjoy the low energy musicality style, I want more energy while it being music (like Wing) - It was clean but there were 8 other people that I think combined different aspects of beatbox in a better bundle. 9th best at gbb is still awesome but I didnt see enough to put him in battles Im a bit sad tho as I really like Stitch and he brings a unique style. I like it to just listen to while chilling, but thats not what I want from a competition. In competition we need power and energy for me edit: its really good and for just chilling at home and listening its top 3 easily, for the gbb setting I feel anything in the 5th-11th range is justifiable also music cant and shouldnt be judged. Battle attitude and performance can be judged. Beatbox competitions are a weird concept imo as you dont have music competitions where one does ambience, one does dubstep and another one cavemen music XD dont cry in the replies and be constructive about it :)
