Welcome back William!
instaBlaster...
4:30 🤣🤣
Welcome back. Never clicked on a video so fast.
Love Mr. Ng’s dry sense of humor and of course his expertise. As someone who went the Ebay/refurbish route before buying a Lie Nielsen jack plane, I wish I had considered buying the Lie Nielsen or Veritas Jack with the extra blades first. I would recommend that path for anyone starting out.
I wouldn't, its a waste of money for a beginner. Lie Neilsen and Veritas make high quality tools and are nice to have if you have very deep pockets, but you do not need tools of this price to do first class work.
Getting an alert that there was a new video from you made my quarantine a little more bearable. Thanks for the video, William! You are consistently the best instructor on UA-cam.
Nice to see you back William, thanks for the video and the humour.
Best chipbreaker explanation I've seen yet.
I really like your subtle humour. Good hand plane tips too. Thanks.
William who? Oh that guy who used to be on youtube. I remember him. Welcome back friend. Missed your videos and dry humor.
I will have to admit, I not only missed your great instruction in your videos but also the humor. Glad to see you back.
I took a class from William Ng, it was expensive and worth every penny! I've had several classes at Palomar College but the best instruction was from Mr. Ng, he's simply amazing! ❤😂 As far as planes go, if you want three, a low-angle block, a #4 1/2 and #6 from Lie-Nielsen (expensive) or Woodriver from Woodcraft (less expensive), don't waste time on Rockler. There ARE better planes but these have great blades and are pretty flat , easy to use!
Love your sense of humour and of course your knowledge.
Welcome back William. It's widely known that you are an amazing woodworker. But you toss your silliness and sense of humor i will be sitting up for one or more of your online classes. Can't wait to learn something.
GREAT to see a new video William! You had me crying a few times. 😂 You're a national treasure.
Oh and another UA-cam notification, let me dismiss this real qui-- Wait, what?! Well I'm done with whatever else I was doing!! Welcome back!!
Your comment about the side screws to enable the lateral adjuster to function was a Eureka moment for me. I baulked at spending so much on any low angle Jack plane, so I made a wooden one with the Veritas Norris style adjuster. The side screws will improve its deficiency with the lateral adjuster.
Shavings turning was also enlightening.
Your jokes are terrible.😀😀 They made me chuckle.
Seeing this thumbnail in my in box was a hell yeah moment! Been looking forward to a knowledgeable drop from the master. Good to see you back!
OMG, I freaking love you so much! The way you blend in your sense of humor with your knowledge is incredible. Jonathan Katz Moses has nothing on you! (But he is a close second). Another great video. thx.
Love your sense of humor sir! Please make more videos.
Love Mr. Ng’s dry sense of humor and of course his expertise.
Saw a new William Ng video. Had to stop work and watch immediately. Wasn't disappointed.
This is actually the first instruction on how to adjust a plane that I have properly understood.
William: you are a wood surgeon who has mastered the task of scalpel selection for every type of surgery. Thank you for the most thorough treatment of hand planes. Excellent video.
Very informative video William, thanks for sharing your knowledge and humor with us. Air plane, I have to remember that one...
Understated worker but very skilled.5:08 little William ha ha ha .Great teacher .probably the very best explanation of how planes work that I have seen.He deserves so many more subs and likes.
Thanks for the return William. I loved seeing that sense of humor once again.
The yellow cedar joke, You just earned my subscription. Hahah!
Always great to see another video from William. Some woodworkers on UA-cam seem to get their knowledge from other videos. William is a great teacher, and you gotta love that sense of humor.
Your channel just popped up in my world, subscribed after 60 seconds ... then I saw the comment from the JK-M. I really appreciate all you wood experts ... with a few dozen subscriptions ... I have centuries of expertise and wisdom at my leisure. $0.02 Cheers.
I didn't forget to hit the like button or to subscribe. Good length to digest, a little on the longer side. Good flow of speech. Recorded well and with care. I enjoyed hearing and seeing what I've seen and heard a dozen times before from skilled people like you. Thumbs up!
"I use hand tools because it makes a lot of people think you know what you're doing." I love it! Sir, you do know what you're doing imo.
I remembered your videos and instruction were amazing, I had forgotten how funny you are. Great to see you back!
Young William was amazing. We need to see him more often!
Thanks William. Always appreciate your videos. Please post a video on how to tune a Japanese plane.
I was very happily surprised / excited when I saw you had put up a video again. Welcome back
William, it's so good to see you back on UA-cam. I missed your videos. Like Ben, I went straight from what I was doing to here.
Welcome back William love your humor
Awesome to see you back William. Very good explanation on planes and how to adjust them. Love your sense of humour as well. Excited to how to sharpen a blade.
Just adjusted my number 4 plane and it cuts like butter with super thin shavings. Thank you for this tutorial.
Good to see you back.
Air Plane. Ouch. Nice to see you are on top form for your return!
He was on fire with this video! Hilarious and packed with info. I look forward to every video of his
This the BEST video on planes that I’ve seen. Lots of practical information that I can use to improve my knowledge and use of my planes. Thank you.
Waking up to find a new William Ng video available is the best.
Good info. I sold my Stanley's, all 15 of them and bought LN. The thicker blades and truer body's made all the difference. I was spending more time restoring the Stanley's and always struggling to get them perfect. They were nice and I liked them but I'm not looking back. The LN I could put to good use with only a small honing.
This is the best plane video yet! Thanks for your effort and great humor!
Little William Ng was a cute little tyke!
All kidding aside, This was the most informative video I've seen on hand planes, it helps me put in order of preference which planes I buy.
So good to see your video and to know that you are healthy. Your dry sense of humor left me laughing out loud several times in this video. I own several antique planes and had a Lot to learn from you today.
Thank you again for all your efforts to make these videos available to all of us with less experience!
William NG, Welcome Back, it is a delight to see another outstanding video from you and your modeling hands.
I am the guy with the power tools, however I want to be the one with the zin with wood.
I have been the one flying the airplane for fifty years, yes the plane with wings. 🤣
Seriously Thank you for making this video and sharing your knowledge with us. I own a hand plane that my great grandfather used and I am 64 years old I have sharpened the iron however the design is pretty crude. And I have not been able to master the art of using this plane unlike the one with wings.
You have introduced me to the finer points of hand planes. After seeing your video I am going to consider purchasing a quality hand plane. Thank you.😁🛫
William is a great help. You don't or will ever need any plane that is not made by Stanley. The secret to getting the best results from a plane is the setup, and that includes the most important part--sharpening.
Great video! Got excited when I checked my phone and saw the thumbnail. Now I have to go to your website and get your class. Awesome to see you back!
Nice to see you back!...Nice demo😉👍
Welcome back William. As an average Joe woodworker I can vouch for the therapeutic effect of using a sharp, well set hand plane.
It is great to see you back on UA-cam. Love your work.
holy cow william is back i stumped my thumb trying to click on this video lol we missed ya buddy as soon as work picks back up i will buy your online course i will never forget your april fools vid, a few years back ( you got me )
Thanks Todd. Your support means a lot.
Welcome back Mr. Ng, so happy to have you teaching in the only classroom I can afford to be in at the moment.
Great video William! Welcome back! I can't believe that I've had all these quality planes and didn't know how to set the throat. Thank you very much.
Man! William just dropped another bomb of education! Please make more videos sir.
Wow William, your closeups of your demonstration are so timely! I just hit that like button and subscribed to your channel!
Really great to see you all the best
Love your sense of humor ! Thanks for posting a new video, this was a very nice surprise!
Your instruction is invaluable and humor is priceless!!! Keep up the great work and glad you're back.
Welcome back William. You explain things so well. I always look forward to your next video.
Welcome back, really looking forward to more...thanks for sticking with it
Absolute best hand plane instruction video. This is every explanation I have ever needed with regards to setup and the reasoning behind it. Thanks 🤙
Thank you William. My greatest joy is using my (cheap, very cheap) 9" bench plane that is too small for my hand. I will definitely get a Veritos #5 standard plane to replace it. I also enjoy your humor so keep em coming..
I can't pinpoint exactly what it is, but this video did a much better job explaining setup than others I have watched.
Welcome back. Since your last video, I've probably used the five-cut method to line up three or four fences. I've enjoyed the humor having learned to appreciate your interesting brand. I hope to see more videos.
Again, I really appreciate your contribution. Thank you so much.
Found you for the first time today and can’t thank you enough for this video. I had purchased a Stanley SW smoothing plan as my first hand plane. I could tell it was a good plane but my lack of knowledge involving how all the knobs work and what they are for made me put it away. Can’t wait to get back in the shop now and make some wisdom and a flat smooth board while I’m at it!
The Stanley Sweetheart is a very good plane. It should serve you well.
Good to see you back Sir. I agree I’ve refurbished several old Stanley planes but my go to planes are the 5 1/2 or 4 1/2 Lie-Nielson.
I sure hope you do consistent videos. As soon as l saw this in my feed l opened it with a big smile. That was excellent, very informative.
Yours is the only channel which I allow notifications from- you are really awesome!
I was worried you were ill, I am glad that is not the case.
I use your plane knife sharpening jig- sooooo sweet!
James
or was it a fixture ;)
Just when I’d about given up hope that you would ever return, you are back. That’s the best news I’ve heard in a long two plus months of social distancing. Your content is always superb interjected with subtle humor.
Love this. Thank you.
I always feel like a block plane is a good place to start.
That's a good looking studio. Good lighting. good to see you back!
the best explanation of all about the use of hand plane ... but the two brands you recommended cost almost 1/3 of my salary ... even Stanley here in Brazil is very expensive.
So excited to see you doing a video again - have missed your very dry sense of humor. Welcome back. I will take a look at your online school.
Great to see these videos again. I bought one of your Big Daddy bits a few years ago and it's awesome.
YES! So happy you are back! Thanks for another great video. 👍🏼
Love your sense of humor Willam.
I am so happy to see you back! You are one of my favorites.
William, great to see you making videos again, I hope you keep making great content like this! Thank you!
Man what a nice surprise! Welcome back! I think of you every time I build a new table saw sled :)
Hi William! Great video! I work in Anaheim as an RN and would love to take one of your classes one day. Saving my pennies and building my skills first. Until then, keep the videos coming. You are an awesome teacher
Welcome back, even if I already knew all the information given in the video, while I did learn something very useful from some of your other videos, it is always a pleasure to see them, you are always spot on and very clear and simple in your explanations while being accurate, one of the best examples of the highest possible quality of instructional videos we can find on YT.
SO Happy to see you back! Love the humor my good man!!
Yes, I was just thinking the same thing! Welcome back William!
This video is perfect timing for me. I need to buy my first plane and had no idea what I would benefit from best. Thanks for sharing 👍
I have been waiting for another one of your videos! Keep em coming!
Great video. I have both Lie Nielsen and Veritas, but did not do a good job of setting them up or knowing if the blade was properly set. Now, I know a lot more. I am looking forward to your sharpening video. I agree with NIck's comment about your instructor capabilities. Excellent.
I'm very happy to see you posting again! You're the best!
Welcome back! So glad to see you again.
This is the best explanation for frog location and mouth opening I've seen.
What a sense of humour😀.....good to see you back on YT
Welcome back! We’ve missed you. Greetings from another William from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
The legend had returned.
Love you videos. So much information even serious woodworkers like myself end up with helpful information.
Thank you
Good info. thanks and welcome back.
The master is back.
Great video and welcome back
Absolutely enjoy your videos just fantastic!
Great information William, loved the little William!
Great video, your humor reminds me of my late uncle Sam :)
