- After crossing the Great Bahama Bank, we arrived in the Berry Islands via Great Harbour Cay and spent a few days hopping around the island. We then headed south to a BEAUTIFUL anchorage behind Hoffman Cay
We're gonna go ahead and classify Shark Creek and Hoffman Cay as hidden gems in the Bahamas. We had never heard of either before making our way down here and they've been some of our favorite stops so far!

wow, the blue waters and the sea life are spectacular. love this one, keep 'em coming!
The colors here amaze us every day!
Enjoyable episode, epic footage! Full circle again…(your jet ski rescue). Somer’s Knight no wind, motoring Dashaies Guadeloupe to Basse-Terre ran out of fuel and had to be rescued and towed. Next day under sail continuing on to Basse-Terre we rescued 5 fisherman in trouble in their dinghy. Keep good karma going. 😉
It was too weird to rescue at jet ski by dinghy, then have our dinghy rescued by jet ski.
Really fantastic video, and you are right! sailtrim is for everybody. when in really light winds you don't even need snatchblocks you can hold the sail closer to the mast with anything even twine. make a small loop and tie it to the life lines. When you are seeking that 1/4 knot you have to do everything in your power to get the perfect sail shape. Also, I might mention that movement on the boat destroys the sail shape as well. So when it is that light, get everything you need and try to stay in one place. Everytime you move it changes the angle of attack of the wind and can affect the airfoil. Somehow, way long time in the past, when I was doing that light air sailing everyone started whispering. I can't figure out the corrolation between whisperinig and light air and sitting still on the boat, but I swear it happens.
It’s amazing watching the effect such small tweaks can have on speed and helm. Our autopilot shows our rudder position, so I can actually monitor how much weather or lee helm we have based on observing how hard the rudder is pushing in either direction on a screen!
No on the pumping bulb unless you tilt the motor up then maybe 1 squeeze or 2.Easy on using your choke to start every time,if you flood it choke off and open the throttle while you pulling to crank it.try not to idle too much and run pretty fast after starting as this will clean the spark plugs after idling.a inline gas filter is a got idea too.I would have onboard your sailboat a new spare gas hose assembly connector to connector as well.a bad connection can drive you nuts. Also use 2 stroke oil and don’t mix in too much oil this is important so plugs don’t foul.I would use choke unless you have too and try to push the choke off as soon as possible.Definitely give it some throttle before crank if needed. If it try’s to crank with the choke on then push choke in on the next pull it should start.choke is the easiest way to flood carburetor and foul your plugs.just found you today and liked you two 👍👍
Thanks man!!
Your welcome just noticed this is 2 years old 🥴
@@markbuskens6070 haha yep, we are way more active on Instagram: @sailingcloud2
Outboards and fuel and carburetors ..... always an issue on these small engines.. mine too..nice vid and drone shots..love em
And always at the most inconvenient time! Thanks Robert!
Loving every moment of your adventure!
Thanks Maggie we love sharing it!
Beatiful Scenery!!!!! And that BEARD!!!!! LOL :P
Great video. We spent a couple of lovely days at Great Harbour Cay back in 2018. Thanks for refreshing our memories! Oh...and a Gasoline spill is not a serious environmental issue as the gas is lighter than water and evaporates quickly. Diesel....not so much.
Thanks guys!!! We really loved the Berries, especially Hoffman Cay. That’s good to know about gasoline, I feel better now 😅
Awesome video! Hopefully we can run into you guys (on purpose) eventually here in a bit😁
That would be awesome! Just subscribed and will check out your vids when we have some wifi again!
Only prime it when cold starting
Learned our lesson!
With the close proximity to the airport, did you have an issue flying the drone?
There’s a geo fence as you get closer which limits your height and speed but other than that no problems!
I've never had a flooding issue with the outboard, but frequently have carb blockage issues with 2-stroke engines. Looks like your Yamaha is a 2-stroke as well. If you don't know how to disassemble and clean the jets in the carb, I strongly recommend you learn. It's a basic skill to have in your cruiser toolkit. It will be handy.
She’s starting to have trouble idling and I’m suspecting a carb issue. Time to learn how to clean them!
what application do you use to check wind /waves
We use Windy and PredictWind. Lately the GFS model has seemed the most accurate for us!
