Hey thanks for watching the video!
I love these videos. Between you and your sister, I'm very entertained. We just need the Cheese Making videos to start next year.
I checked the Internet about size of farms in Saskatchewan. “The total farmed area in Saskatchewan was just over 60.2 million acres and the average farm size is 1,766 acres. Looking at demographics, 26,770 Saskatchewan farmers or 60.6 per cent are in the 55 and over age category.” “In all of Canada the average farm is 809 acres.”
So the Keilstra’s have a large acreage to farm (3100 acres) and maintain. Lots of work for them I am sure.
Hi from Yuma Arizona, love watching you and your sister ❤
The ropes are wearing out sooner because I notice in another video that you drop the milk header from about a foot when taking it off. That's where the quicker wear at the 'pinch point' is coming from I would think.
If one side is doing the extra milking that 730 extra drops a year.
Thanks for all the info. Always love watching your videos that's why when you don't do them for awhile everyone wants to see some videos. I love seeing the cow's. Especially their coats they have some beautiful patterns. So when nothing is going on you could show some of therm
You would think??????? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
We do the same thing in our parlor and we have to replace every other year. They are designed to drop off of the tit like that.
Lovely video ty, i enjoy seeing the field work
How come you guy's don't have trees bordering your fields, wouldn't help with wind damage? Boy you had a good year for hay.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks for the updates and the explanations. I follow a sheep and grain family farm here in Southwestern Ontario and I am just amazed at the amount of work and dedication that goes into running a family farm business.
That must be Sandy Brook in Ontario that you follow......she is amazing, Love her
@@neilbromstad9591 yes it is.
Killer video Jan, very happy you are uploading so regularly. Sincerely hope these frequent uploads are not adversely affecting your happiness. Best wishes from Ontario.
Was another great video thanks again really enjoyed all ur videos and appreciate the time u put in to it thanks again
The expansiveness of the prairie always impresses me. So much flat land, like the Netherlands but different…even larger.
I live in Ontario but have had the chance to see these Saskatchewan fields during harvest as night falls. It leaves a real impression. The lights, the dust, the size of it all.
Great drone and sunset shots.
Excellent supply, your Dad should be proud of all of y’all !

No better investment than land.. Buildings, Machinery and even livestock do not hold a candle to how land will increase in value.. Buildings and Machinery decrease to such an extent that they become worthless.. Cows tend to hold their own in that they are not prolific breeders like pigs or chickens as the fluctuation in prices for those is relatively predictable.. so.. The cows will always carry your loans and NEVER lose sight of that but the end game will always be the land.. How much of that you have should reflect how many cows you have to carry it along with any equipment because relying on cereal crops is a fools errand.. simply a reflection of how prolific it can be bred and is very predictable in good bad and poor years it is rare that you can even meet fuel costs.. The value is in how you improve the actual soil.. i like that you found a fall crop that will serve to keep your soil from setting sail for Manitoba lol
You would think you would be able to cut the rope and just reclamp
You would think but you do not know
The one thing I would recommend is to put an airbar on your harvester.
Farmers are the smartest most versatile individuals on the planet ! Mathematicians, financial planners, mechanics, biologists, troubleshooters, animal husbandry skills, so optimistic and definitely not whiners.....you people are amazing....and you feed the entire planet ! We love you guys !! 😉👍 oh....I forgot.....meteorologists and logistical geniuses !
Halloween tackle Milk pricing North of daBorder=Twilight Zone subject
I love watching the machines that provide with our daily sustenance and the farmers that make that possible. Thank you so much!!!!!❤❤❤❤
One guy said he had 350 bu hopper of grain + 50-60 bu of grasshoppers.
Thanks for the update, you guys have been busy.
Great video brother from the imperial county ca 🚜🚜🚜🇺🇲
I notice you are back again.
Very smart having options,,
🇺🇸🇨🇱
Thanks for the details on how you use all the grain you harvest!! 👍
I Hit the LIKE 👍
That younger sister is the one you gotta watch,,,,,😁😳

If you’re speaking about Neline she’s the oldest child I think she said in one of her videos.
Jan, this is one of the best videos so far explaining how dairy/farming really works from a business perspective. I'm sure the New Holland combine deserves a well earned rest and rebuild at the end of this season. I know you follow 10th generation farmer on you tube. Do you think the move he has made towards automation would work for your operation?
nube question. Why don’t you pull the seed wagon ‘before’, or ahead, of the planter ?
Try watching the video next time
Maintenance. Like ice cream, always good. (for YOU.) Careful with sis, blood is thicker than water, but you want all you got now.
You were comparing ice cream to maintenance...?
The camera shots here on a 4K T.V. made it seem like you were driving right through the living room. So much information packed in I will have to watch this one a few times just to absorb it all. Also thinking an inch of rain followed by some + 30 C will start your Rye off just fine this fall. Lastly you folks are super busy, long days so stay safe!
Great video, good to hear things are going well with the crops!
Be sure to put all parts on the window sill
What would he do without you😂😂😂😂😂😂
Great Video!
Good video.
Beautiful video (with technical dessertation thrown in for good measure!) Thanks for the "tour!"
So why doesn’t your dad trust you to run the combine or the drill?
Their mechanic Brent has the usual responsibility of operating the air drill & combine as Jan is certainly kept busy with other farm related tasks. Truss certainly isn’t an issue but rather whose skills sets & time schedule is best for the various tasks.
@@gavinperry7237you a local or just a youtube smartass?
Jan they make a metal protector for the rope where it goes through the clasp. I have noticed that when I do things repeatedly it takes less and less time to do it. Thanks for another great and informative video.
Yeah, those protectors are super common in the marine industry. For the small cost they might extend the life of the ropes unless there are other reasons for replacement. :)
So much easier to figure out prices per metric ton. Eliminate trying to figure out bushel weight for different products
God your good.... nobody else seems to care about explaining things. Most just release videos following them through their day without any explanation or trying to educate. Your a credit to your profession and a major asset in the daily industry.
I love your videos, there getting better all the time, ty keep up the good work
Is Brent a family member or just an employee on the farm? Seems like he is a very critical part of the operation, seeding, combining, mechanic, etc.
Your videos are my favorites, great job
Great beautiful video again Jan. You live in one of the most beautiful places on earth. The brutality of the prairies, in summer and winter, make you ask “why did people stop here on the westbound journey?” Of course the answer is cheap land that didn’t have trees and rocks everywhere. You’re putting your own mark there. Keep going.
Such a clean cut looking farm boy. That combined with all the talent is gonna be a prime catch for somebody. You almost have to start teaching somebody how to repair some of the things that you do . Soon it will be a full time job just keeping all the wheels turning and you are that guy. Great video. Pax.
Your sunset views at the end were stunning, nothing nicer to see a combine working as the sun is setting just amazing to watch . Great video as always 👍
Why don’t you make square bails instead round bails only because it’s cheaper
and far less efficient to bail and use
And you can storage roundbales outside without any covering. The squarebales would be complete garbage
Good job everyone!
Great video
excellent!!
How come Brent is the only one who drives the combine and the drill?
Break IT and he Fixxes IT LOL
pls dont agree with russia, pls support ukraine with solidarity! russia is raiding more ukrainian cities/towns, pls attend a ukrainian rally for ur livestream, thank u god bless
TAKE YOU POLITICS SOMEWHERE ELSE..... THIS IS A FARMING CHANNEL.... IT DOESN'T NEED TO BE POLLUTED BY PEOPLE LIKE YOU
Very much enjoyed this video. A lot of variety and info. Do you grow canola because it is a good cash crop?
That's pretty much the only reason to grow it!
❤❤❤
It may have been an upper arm workout, but most people would have needed a ladder. Maybe that gives the Dutch the advantage in parlor work.
😂😂 haha yea true
Great video...really enjoyed it....answered alot of my questions!!!! Ty! ❤️🙏🇺🇲
Always a great video thanks for explaining everything
I always enjoy watching your videos I find them very interesting & educational.
Add some clear or some shrink tubing on lines
🚜 Loved the balance between dairy work and crop farming! Watching you juggle both seeding and combining while handling parlour maintenance is inspiring! That farm life hustle is real! 💪🌾
Great video always nice to see you and your family
i like the farm i working before everythin thanks
They think farmers make so much money they have no idea what you guys get charged.
Love your videos and updates. A retired Dairy maid from decades ago.
Thank you for educating us on the crops and what you can do with it.😊😊
As usual, another top notch video. Variety, informative, but haven't seen Cheetah on camera in a while. 😅
I understand that the majority of farms such as yours Grow a lot of their crops to feed their animals But have you ever considered growing crops that feed humans Probably more beneficial for sustainability...And I do understand that you know the fact that Milk farms and cattle farms technically are cultivating food By raising the animals But we can use plants and vegetables too, it's a good part of our healthy diet that we're missing..Cattle can live off of hay and alfalfa and other things like that and still be well off right so why not grow more food for people too..? just a curious but honest question. I mean with all the shortages and inflation and all that I would think that more people growing crops for food would cut all those prices and things like that down right..!?!?😇🙏✌💛🗽💯
Greetings from Illinois 👍👍👍👍
Wrap a piece of ZIP construction. Tape in the loop, of the parlor rope
I’ve always said that to be a successful farmer, you have to a super smart agronomist, a weather forecaster, a mechanic, a financial wizard, a chemical specialist, a veterinarian, a plumber, an electrician, have a ton of common sense … and above all, a pretty good gambler!
Did you go through all the straw you guys bought last year and how much did you guys have before doing straw this year
Jan, have you melked koes by hand before?
You will like a camera to watch the spinner area to make sure the dirt doesn’t stop up things. Very nice rig for sure
I agree with you, it never hurts to use a little bit of lubricant.
Jan, your explanations of farm life actually give this guy an idea of what you do and go through day by day. I find it fascinating and am learning bit by bit what a farmer does. Sadly, as you can tell, I grew up in the city (Saskatoon) without any hands on knowledge of what you’re doing right outside my home. Please continue sharing as I for 1 really appreciate what you are doing. Thx
Please help me find a job contract on a cow farm.
Cool intro montage…hot pink!...holy cow - stretch to length…yes! - purse…Delta Dawn…great use of time lapse and auto pan; thumbs up on the tune…feel the breeze…glittering blues and strands…hmmmm - tractor talk - this is why Barbie is not interesting…strings and synth…Chattanooga Choo-choo…definitely ethereal; phoof…reed in the wind…sky-blue-pink; amber glow…hopping so
Great video, Jan. You are informative and entertaining. You provide good detail of the jobs you do on the farm and make it interesting. Thanks. I think your bale catcher should play for your Roughriders - catches them all and never fumbles.
Nice to see you guys having a good year crop wise!
Im sure your sister is the faster milker and is easier on the equipment. The good think about dairy farming is manure with the price of fertilizer no a days. Do you put cover crop in? Thats alot of straw but more is better.
I wouldn't be able to deal with the twisted milk pipes, drives me mad when pipes are left that way 😅
So good to have these videos regularly. We keep up with what you are doing. You are an outstanding farmer and explain everything so clearly. And beautifully done videos. Hope you take enough time to get proper rest young man. You come from a wonderful family. Take care
Great drone footage 👍👍
Your channel is # 1 for me!
Thanks my friend, amazing !
Great photography!
Videos are more vivid .
Do you grow any wheat?
Knot used was??
Wash that truck
Good stuff
I
👍👌❤️🇨🇦
Hey
🇨🇦👍
Would you please return my screwdriver. Thanks in advance. 😂😂👍😎✌
😂😂😂😂
Why don't you plant soya beans
Because it doesn't fit into the farm plan
Wash that nice truck!
Not necessary
First ❤❤❤❤
Its hard for nonfarmers to imagine the size of your farm. I realize that the actes are not in a perfect aquare or rectangle. Could you give a rough estimate of how many miles wide and long the farm is
640 acres is equal to 1 square mile
Saskatchewan grid roads are mostly 1 mile apart as well.
.
You are one of the best farming videos I watch with so much info on what is going on at the time of the video and why. Thanks
and keep them coming when every you have time.
