I don’t understand why the government wants to pay farmers to not make food, it makes no sense at all. I think that solar has its place and indeed I have panels on the roof of my house, where they belong, not covering huge swathes of food producing land

They have had some problems in the states . Like whole field demolished by hail .and what does it do to the good ground .and what a eye sore .
But it's not up to me .

Several years ago Companies were trying to put six 300 foot tall wind generators on our farm,now other Companies are sending letters to use 60 acres of our Farm for solar panels. The reality of those projects are never as good as they promise

I think the biggest problem you will have is where to store all your Hay Ian. Weather looks pretty good till the end of June.

Once the solar and battery people are on your land, good luck getting them off in the future. With the greatest respect to your father, he will not have to deal with the long term consequences and he will be saddling you and your brother with the legacy
i noticed on my travels last week a few fields of barley are well on the way to gold colour now, which is surprising ,didnt think we had enough sun to get it going like that
Oh Biskit she is so funny bouncing around 😂😂😂 I think you need to tell your dad that if he doesn't use the chair lift then you will have to move his room downstairs so he doesn't have more falls xx it worked with my dad he was a pain in the backside aswell thinking he could do everything himself 👍 I do hope he is OK. Poor Bizkit, you don't half tease her, she'll get her own back one day. Once the solar and battery people are on your land you'll never get them off it, sadly, when your Dad goes, you'll be lumbered with them for years, talk him out of it, what benefit will this be for YOU in the long run, these companies are in it for themselves, not us!!!!
If you can get that lot in this week don't think you'll need a second cut.

Surely, that grass will not have any good in it. It's all weeds
From where I stand there's plenty of owned, leased and rented government buildings in many cities, where the power is needed around in many counties where you can place a lot of solar panel. After you have put the buildings up to standards as needed of cause. Makes 0 sense to destroy good farm land for solar panels at all.
