Nice greenhouses. HomeDepot and Walmart don’t make these available where I live. Damn it. I priced the pipe and greenhouse plastic and can’t do it cheaper than the HomeDepot kit, plus that gives windows and doors.

I laughed out loud at the “You and a tall friend need to fit inside.” 😂 I figure I’ll be slouching inside any greenhouse some of these are tall enough for me to move around in!
I got that 10x20 Amazon greenhouse on sale for $168. Unbeatable and has the best reinforcements that I have seen out of any other greenhouse in this bracket.
Has anybody thought of adding something like solid board walls under plastic on the sides under the windows, It would make them stronger and add someway to anchor them down. You could even add a little foam insulation before fall and extend the season even more.
Would you consider doing a video on how to "beef up" an affordable greenhouse to make it last longer? Also, a video on the best of the nicer ones? Because even looking at the $2000-$4000 range I see lots with mixed reviews 😬 This video's been great and super helpful 😊
T-posts outside on the sides of the greenhouse with rope criss crossed up and over the roof and tied to the base of the posts. Little stakes won't do in the wind no matter if they are screwed in or pounded into the ground. Works for my less expensive greenhouse.
Not sure where you live, but a peaked roof in the winter holds more snow (much more) than a domed roof. Domed roofs are easier to get the snow off of as well and tend to 'dip' less around the framing.
super useful information! I wonder how well wrapping it in synthetic fabric soaked in concrete almost like paper mache would work as a low cost shed. I understand actual inflatable (like a bounce house then soak with a hose) concrete structures exist but they use very heavy specialized fabric and start at around $7-15k
I bought a "starter" greenhouse, it didn't last the summer before it got holes from the sun. I did much better covering it in regular 8 mil plastic from Walmart. The ones I made out of 1 inch pvc and 8 mil plastic held up better and had no issues from the sun here in Arkansas.
I purchased an Outsunny GH from Lowes, surprised that Home Depot Carrie’s the same item. Mine is not for less than $150. And it’s huge, there’s no center top support “beams” so I’m gonna attach pvc tubes to the top.
I’m looking for wider and longer 18’ wide 20+ ‘ longer no snow here with vents and a better door and cover I’ll pay more but I have three small green houses now looking for next step thanks for the info gives me a place to start
Do you happen to know where someone could get rolls of the mesh reinforced plastic most of these are covered in? I have really bad luck with Alibaba vendors being unwilling to ship to where I live. I've found them being sold in 4'×8' pieces as painting tarps but those are woefully inadequate for a greenhouse.
If you buy a tent greenhouse make sure your able to buy replacement parts. Most of these do sell resell connectors or a replacement plastic . Which means once its broke , THAT'S IT.....
Does anyone know if the light for growing passes through the green colored greenhouses? Many of the green colored houses showed a graphic of the UV light reflecting off the surface.
The company Menards sells only boxes and packages kits from an unnamed source and does not sell replacement parts. You can buy new plastic, switch to shade, or buy a new kit.
I agree many of them need reenforcement. I'm thinking if one ordered a second sheet of plastic and did an air inflated greenhouse they might be a lot stronger?
@@SimpleTek better add pool noodles or insulation to keep it from ripping and add alot of extra pipes for bracing or 2×4s. By the time you are done you are better off buying the smallest professional greenhouse. The pipes they use are 16 gage so they are at least 2× as strong as the aluminum cans you will buy with cheap greenhouses. The pipes make the difference. Within just 3 months mine was snapping pipes and tearing the reinforced plastic. By 8 months i cut the remnants of the plastic off reinforced the corners with rebar and it stood for another 6 months. Not worth the 250$ plus shipping that i paid. I'll be going with a 24×24' professional greenhouse. It will cost much less in the long run.
... the double polly with air in-between the sheets ... this makes an effective wind block but you still have to anchor the entire greenhouse to the ground tho ... long spikes into the ground to assure the wind cannot move the structure ... the double polly helps with snow removal too if required ...

I was expecting to see a little more info on materials and design, (there I go... expecting:)), and a serious product review would require that you actually get and test the product(s). for the money they're great, but consider it a disposable greenhouse; i bought 2 at once. the first once collapsed in the wind in june, the second lasted until october; that one was destroyed. high winds and being foolish enough to think a $200-300 greenhouse, "might be ok" but i won't make that mistake twice.

Just a tip on your presentation. If you are going to be reading from cue cards to give your presentation, then don't show yourself on the screen, it is distracting when your eyes are darting back and forth to the cue cards. Other than that, thanks for the tips!

....I cut foam insulation sheets to fit end caps for insulation ... bubble wrap inside also insulates ...

those are still better than these, they're a larger guage steel; the ones i bought had 3/4 inch tubes, that's just not big enough.
I've tried the kits. Problem is they don't hold up to wind at all.
