I am very glad to have discovered this video. I had No Idea how the dead cat was supposed to fit on, and I didn't want to pull it apart by accident experimenting! Thank you, sir.

I don’t use the Sony app. It’s awful. Basically, turn the camera on with the usb attached. Plug into computer. The computer should see the camera and two windows open. If you recorded in high quality, look in ‘Private’ and then a folder with mp4 as part of its name.
The files will be in there. Copy and paste onto computer.
If you have trouble finding the right folder, do a search using *.mp4 when clicked on the Sony camera and your computer should find them.
Once you get used to it, it’s easy.

will this mic work with Xvive U3 Dynamic Microphone Wireless System with XLR Transmitter and Receiver

I think the U3 is for dynamic microphones, so it doesn’t put out any voltage for a condenser mic, so it probably wouldn’t work.

That is exactly what I've experienced it's a bit fiddly to put the furry cat on.
For me it's kind of a pain in the. Arse.

@@iancraig sounds like you still love the clippy.

    • @iancraig

TBH, the Clippy is a terrific lavalier with low noise (-80dB!!) and a sound that almost sounds like a full sized mic. Clippy with a higher voltage, even better.
I found this interesting since I started with a full blown studio mic and then switched to the Comica. That demonstrated just what the differences are between most lavaliers and a big mic.
The Clippy imitates big mics pretty well!

Tbh it doesnt sound that good. EQ of course can make it come to life, but tbh this sounds even worse than Rode Wireless go mics. But with way worse convenience. Great video, just shocked at how much of a step down that was vs your regular mic setup.

I guess most mics need EQ at the end of the day. Even pro mics. The thing I don’t like with cheap mics is the self noise. Removing that in post if it’s bad can affect the audio a lot.
