I have been doing a pretty deep skateboarding dive based on THPS nostalgia and this video came up. a few things I noticed: 1) it’s very unexpected and refreshing to hear these real conversations, especially the zen-like way that individuals like Muska and Jamie look at skateboarding, and art as a whole. I really respect that view, because the more I look at skateboarding (this is the POV from an admirer from afar but not really into it enough to participate), I look at it as an art form. 2) Muska randomly naming 4 elements of Hip-Hop really means a lot, because it shows he cares about the art form that was my first love. It’s crazy how gaps can get bridged. 3) (unrelated to this pod) I didn’t know Jamie was from Alabama until recently lol. I’m from Arkansas, so yea…I get why he left for sure. Big Ups to you both ✊🏾

Everyone has their opinion, but I really enjoyed and valued this conversation. Obviously it's not going to come off as being 100% natural, there's cameras all around and this is the first episode. Thank you so much for creating this video conversation with my two favourite skaters from back in the day. At a time in the late 90s when my only references to skateboarding were from The Simpsons and a lame kids' movie, you guys wouldn't have realised the excitement you created with a bunch of kids, halfway around the world, who took up skateboarding behind the back of their local shops, inspired by the pros in the THPS series. You gave us all a great gift that had a positive impact on a lot of kids that would have otherwise been lost. It's really inspiring to see pro skaters still going strong into their 40s and 50s, and seeing them reveal other dimensions of themselves through UA-cam and social media; it adds a lot to, and says a lot about, the incredible culture behind skateboarding. And yeah, my broken ankle still psychs me out some 15 years later; but that's just a part of skateboarding - we're all broken kids with unbreakable spirits. Doesn't matter how old and dead you feel, just grab a skateboard and charge down the hill like a maniac and you'll feel alive and unstoppable once more.
I remember first seeing muska when he was rocking the visor beanie and cargo pants (tsa life in the fast line era) he was a big influence in my life at the time ... Thanks Jamie for having Chad on as the first guest...
Jamie, after waiting for months for this to launch, I'm not disappointed. Checking you out recently from the Nine Club and the Bunt, I wasn't truly skeptical of the transition from being the interviewee to the interviewer. On this transition, I'm super impressed! I read through ALL the comments regarding the possible rivalry for the Nine Club and audio quality/echos/podcast setting and I'd say fuck the haters. This podcast is about catching the emotion through a candid conversation and not (what seems to be) a structured, super produced show like the Nine Club. I believe both are great shows, but I don't think I would ever see Chad Muska talk the way he had in this interview without being throttled down by interruptions from Crob/Rog/Kelly/Eldy. Now I can't wait to see my hero, Ray Barbee!
I am not a skater, but have recently been obsessed with the individuality that comes with skateboarding and how each skateboarder try to explain what skateboarding means and shape them. Mad respect to The Chief and The Muska for sharing their stories from this and on Nine Club as well. Peace & Love
I’m glad I watched this right before bed it put me right sleep. As I’m sleeping I just kept hearing the word nurture. It’s like Jamie was dying to talk about himself that he began to not listen anticipating he turn. Then when he got it he nurtured his ability to talk about himself. Great interview Chad?
i do not disagree w you, this is the first interview I've ever done. i know that people are watching my show to hear me as well, but since this was the first episode I had no perspective on how much I should contribute. The Huf episode is less me talking, but it's definitely a process of learning & growth.
Jamie, I don't know if Chris Roberts is someone on par with the likes of Muska to you that you'd want to interview him or not but I'd imagine his Nine Club Show inspired you to do this on some level and besides, everyone knows Crob at this point yet none of us know HIS story. This would be a great opportunity for you to interview Crob and get a lot of traffic over to your show because he's interviewed so many people such as yourself but none of us have heard HIS story. I think he'd be a great guest of have on. It'd bring a bigger spotlight to your show early on. Just my thoughts. Thanks for all you do.

I left skating to pursue a different passion, though just as physical at times but I saw Jamie’s nine club interview and really identified with what his passion meant to him and the sacrifices he made to follow a dream. I had this revalation on skating and how it solves or helps you move fwd. you literally are moving fwd. like you step on a board and start pushing fwd setting you in motion both physically and mentally. Any motion fwd is like that but skating is more free and the style aspect of it. Your not moving fwd just to get A to B it's just enjoying the act of moving fwd and getting fresh air. Then there's the act of letting go as well like a hill bomb or committing on a land. That in itself is liberating

This may go unnoticed but I wanna thank you and Chad for being my biggest influences in my life from a child to now. Most kids played with action figures and video games and found a since of heroism through the characters that was played. But I say that to let you guys know that's how I looked at you and Chad. I appreciate your contribution to skateboarding and giving us kids that didn't "fit in" someone to look up to. Much love and props to you Chief.

I've rediscovered you guys on this crazy journey while I guide my kids with thier choice to skateboard. Jamie I hope to run into you again at a demo or something, I think I still have some polaroids I took at a zero demo as a kid, it would be awesome to give u one of them:)

When I think about Muska the first thing that comes to mind is his tony hawks underground appearance... pulled up in the escalade hitting switches and hops out all B-Boy’d out. The whole town was stoked he was pulling up and you just had to get your tape to him! After that Muska was the biggest name in the industry for me

I met Josh Kalis a few years ago when I lived in L.A. He was so humble and made me feel like I was his friend. I deeply believe in what Chad said about many lives and skateboarding at the end. I believe the riding of a skateboard lets us feel our true soul essence which is complete freedom. I wanted to meet Josh ever since photosynthesis I felt his love for his daughter it was magnetic. Chad and Josh speak for me and other people. Both are the zodiac Taurus and through my life I've been the most affected by that sign. I've always felt both are part of my soul family I love em both. Maybe someday I get to thank Chad in person too. Thanks Jamie for doing this I wanted someone like you to do this maybe because I'm biased because we are both Libras. Also I've always felt you could see and understand other skateboarder's point of views.

Now these are two legends. Anything from seeing their video parts to playing them in the Tony Hawk Game Series. These 2 were always ahead of their time to make us still be blown away by.
I remember watching Welcome to Hell for the first time. It was in 95 and I just started skateboarding and never seen a skate video before but this movie rental store had a copy. I was fucking blown away. It seemed like it was hours long because I never seen that much skating at once. I had seen maybe Back to the Future or something and that's the only example I had.I watched that video probably and I am not joking over a thousand times. That video changed skateboarding videos forever. I don't know if younger people understand this. It set a standard.

jamie you might not remember this , but when you used to come up to VANCOUVER for slam city jam you and I used to all way's run into each other and talk . You were so polite and yeah i grew up skating with kasey mckay coiln's brother and sluggo , but every time we all way's would connect and you even gave me your phone number in case i ever came to cali and i even called before i was coming down to san diego and you invited me to come skate when i planned to go there , but i got held up at the border. What's crazy is I remember at slam city you told me about growing your hair comp with a friend i will never forget that . So i had mild success career skating few shop sponser's and then july 4th 2017 i fell 3 story's at work and almost had to have my feet amputated and ended up in a wheelchair for 6 month's and hospital 8 month's and now i am disabled for life so i will never be able to ride anymore .but what get's me through it is watching you skate you all way's help me forget my situation with your skating and this comment is to let you know you alway's influenced me in a big way and you do more good than you know so i also wanted to take this chance to say thank you for not being a dick all those years ago at slam city and when i saw you and steve olson skating through bench land you were kind to me and my girlfriend at the time one last thing thank you for giving a friend of mine i skated with in kelowna way before my accident sponsorship SHELDON MELESHINSKI that kid alway's was fun to skate with sorry for the essay ,but i will never forget slam city

Got to meet Chad at Tampa Pro 2000. He ended having the shop at the park(World Market) give my friend a whole box of Big Brother magazines. He spent the rest of the spring selling them around town. Muska is a solid guy and still one of the best.

This may go unnoticed but I wanna thank you and Chad for being my biggest influences in my life from a child to now. Most kids played with action figures and video games and found a since of heroism through the characters that was played. But I say that to let you guys know that's how I looked at you and Chad. I appreciate your contribution to skateboarding and giving us kids that didn't "fit in" someone to look up to. Much love and props to you Chief.

Thanks for this Chad and Jamie, you where huge inspirations for me as a teen in the late 90s. It's awesome that you can still inspire me 20yrs later as an adult. I've rediscovered you guys on this crazy journey while I guide my kids with thier choice to skateboard. Jamie I hope to run into you again at a demo or something, I think I still have some polaroids I took at a zero demo as a kid, it would be awesome to give u one of them:)

When I think about Muska the first thing that comes to mind is his tony hawks underground appearance... pulled up in the escalade hitting switches and hops out all B-Boy’d out. The whole town was stoked he was pulling up and you just had to get your tape to him! After that Muska was the biggest name in the industry for me

I met Josh Kalis a few years ago when I lived in L.A. He was so humble and made me feel like I was his friend. I deeply believe in what Chad said about many lives and skateboarding at the end. I believe the riding of a skateboard lets us feel our true soul essence which is complete freedom. I wanted to meet Josh ever since photosynthesis I felt his love for his daughter it was magnetic. Chad and Josh speak for me and other people. Both are the zodiac Taurus and through my life I've been the most affected by that sign. I've always felt both are part of my soul family I love em both. Maybe someday I get to thank Chad in person too. Thanks Jamie for doing this I wanted someone like you to do this maybe because I'm biased because we are both Libras. Also I've always felt you could see and understand other skateboarder's point of views.

Now these are two legends. Anything from seeing their video parts to playing them in the Tony Hawk Game Series. These 2 were always ahead of their time to make us still be blown away by.
I remember watching Welcome to Hell for the first time. It was in 95 and I just started skateboarding and never seen a skate video before but this movie rental store had a copy. I was fucking blown away. It seemed like it was hours long because I never seen that much skating at once. I had seen maybe Back to the Future or something and that's the only example I had.I watched that video probably and I am not joking over a thousand times. That video changed skateboarding videos forever. I don't know if younger people understand this. It set a standard.

jamie you might not remember this , but when you used to come up to VANCOUVER for slam city jam you and I used to all way's run into each other and talk . You were so polite and yeah i grew up skating with kasey mckay coiln's brother and sluggo , but every time we all way's would connect and you even gave me your phone number in case i ever came to cali and i even called before i was coming down to san diego and you invited me to come skate when i planned to go there , but i got held up at the border. What's crazy is I remember at slam city you told me about growing your hair comp with a friend i will never forget that . So i had mild success career skating few shop sponser's and then july 4th 2017 i fell 3 story's at work and almost had to have my feet amputated and ended up in a wheelchair for 6 month's and hospital 8 month's and now i am disabled for life so i will never be able to ride anymore .but what get's me through it is watching you skate you all way's help me forget my situation with your skating and this comment is to let you know you alway's influenced me in a big way and you do more good than you know so i also wanted to take this chance to say thank you for not being a dick all those years ago at slam city and when i saw you and steve olson skating through bench land you were kind to me and my girlfriend at the time one last thing thank you for giving a friend of mine i skated with in kelowna way before my accident sponsorship SHELDON MELESHINSKI that kid alway's was fun to skate with sorry for the essay ,but i will never forget slam city

@@Sharkfan thank's dude , yeah been making huge stride's i am now ( sorry hate using i ) upright sorta walking with crutch's & hope to stay upright . I now have a exotic/supercar channel on youtube . Now that i can't skate i turned to 1 of my other love's supercar/hypercars and have been having good success in 28 day's i am at 10,000 viewing hour's and 126 subscriber's all self promoted & even got to have a private shoot in a garage with 2 ferrari hyper cars and 2 bugati's 1 la ferrari & 1 bugati chiron rolling and a ride in a lambo huracan perfamonti i could careless about how much $ , but the mechanics and speed ( hill bomb's ) so again thank you for influence and the focus to get upright and remembering my sk8 life if you would like to maybe check the channel it's called ON THE SPOT EXOTICS , learned editing , filming , & all about cam's to create channel another lesson taught through sh8ing " commitment " oh right , instagram HAIRWEGO77 THANK YOU FOR ALL THE SICK SKATING AND GREATNESS YOU BRING TO SK8BOARDING & LIFE

Got to meet Chad at Tampa Pro 2000. He ended having the shop at the park(World Market) give my friend a whole box of Big Brother magazines. He spent the rest of the spring selling them around town. Muska is a solid guy and still one of the best.
