Marsh Sample Full of Diatoms

A mid winter sample from a local marsh, wasn't much in the way of usual critters present but my god it was full of Diatoms so sit back and relax at this Diatom montage under the microscope with another home brew concoction of music. #biology #microscopy #diatoms

Diatoms are always interesting for their variety and beauty. I've collected surface algae samples so dense in diatoms that a single drop must contain over a thousand of them. Basically all just packed diatoms right up against one another, enough to see a yellowish grit under the cover glass with your naked eye.
