- I test out and review the Tekton 1/2 inch drive torque wrench model 24335 in this video. I test the calibration against another torque wrench. I show how to use this torque wrench on a wheel lug nut. This is a great video to watch of you are considering getting this torque wrench or just bought it. It can torque from 10 ft pounds to 150 ft pounds.

The box isn’t to protect from scratches and getting dirty, its to prevent it from getting damaged and bumped because that can throw off the calibration
So the box won't keep it protected from scratches and prevent it from getting dirty then?
Thanks, bought one yesterday - it's on the way - will put it into service on my 04 Corolla S. As for your wheel - there's plenty of YT's on how to restore & paint metal wheels. Never saw a metal wheel in that style. The plastic caps on my 04 S all look like that, in fact one was resto'd, cleaned, sanded, paint & clear coated over the weekend. Thanks again.
This is exactly what I was looking for todd! Thank you for the video, merry Christmas 🎄⛄

Is it normal for the handle of a Tekton torque wrench to wiggle a tiny bit even after your lock it down with the locking nut?
Yep.
Great video but how do you calibrate it ?
Received my Teton 3/8 yesterday. It don’t quite line up on the 10 foot pounds. If it is let all the way down does it start at 10 foot pounds ?
Man, it is extremely hard to adjust the gross adjustment knob/handle to the higher settings. Just purchased new. Does it need lube or am I a weenie?
@Todd's Garage When backing off the pressure to put the torque wrench away , should that little round lock knob at the very end be off (counter clockwise) or on (clockwise ) or does it matter?
Hi and thanks for watching! I am not sure it doesn't specify in the manual whether to leave the knob tightened or not. The manual only states "When wrench is not in use, keep adjustment at lowest torque setting, 25 ft.-lb. (33.9 Nm)" The manual also states "Do not turn handle below lowest torque setting." Sorry I cant be of more help, you will need to reach out to Tekton to get that answer it looks like.
Why doesn't it work on left hand (reverse) threads?
So, what does a torque wrench do if your lug nut has already been tightened beyond the specs , does it just keep tightening or somehow indicate that your over what your set at? I’ve never used one but want to get this I’m just not familiar with them and don’t want to use it incorrectly and snap lugs or other bolts.
Hi George, thanks for watching! The torque wrench will click when you get to the value you set it, but if you are checking a pre tightened down bolt the bolt could be over tightened and the torque wrench will not notify you of that. It will just notify you with a click when you get to the value you set it at. This Torque Wrench has a 4% + or - accuracy to the value you set it at. Hope that all makes sense, let me know if you have any questions. Thanks again for watching!
Hi, is it safe to use an adapter socket for this torque wrench?
잘 봤어요 좋은 내용입니다.
just order one, hope is good, need it while my Snap On tech angle is being repaired
Plot twist, both tq wrenches are out of calibration lol
👍
Thanks for watching!
Stopped watching when you said to read the manual. I'll do that tnks
Buen video me he subscrito a su canal, gracias...
Gracias! Lo aprecio!
hey todd, your method to torque the lug nuts is not correct - while tightening you were pulling the torque wrench upward towards you, that is not best practice - the correct method is always to push the torque wrench downwards with one hand and the other hand firmly on the wrench head to ensure the wrench is perpendicular to the lug nut. while pulling up your wrench was not perpendicular, was at an angle and could easily slip and injure you at higher torque and you never use single hand always use both hands
Agreed. If I use a small extension will it throw off the calibration or give improper an improper reading?
