I've been a licensed barber for almost 30 years graduated in 95 in the state of Kansas. I missed the deadline for the 3 years before you have to retest by a few months their making me retest mine you this was around the pandemic. Such a raw deal.

I'm not a barber student but I would like for you to let it be known under the PSI national exam. If you are a licensed cosmetologist and you also went to a barber school the max you may have to do in many states is 300 but not over 500 clock hours. Is the max that most states can require. So that's a good thing if you failed in your state you could always take the same practical in another state providing your hours match up with that particular state that you would like to test for., 👌🏼😎😉🥇 So to be able to have both a cosmetology license and a barbering license is a win-win the money is bountiful and one could make starting out average of 40,000 to $250,000. Of barbering and cause is where the money is stay focused everybody that reads this remember why you started it prayer changes things
I failed my state board exam twice🙁 I even study the book on specific chapters. 95 questions is a lot. I’m from California btw

Most likely next month, do you know a specific book and chapters to study on?
They should have given you the topics that you missed the most questions on. I would focus on studying those topics. What book are you using? Milady? Pivot Point?
@@barberdoza I’m studying Milady’s standard professional barbering exam review. The little book, but it’s an old one from 2011 I believe. Am I supposed to study the Milady standard barbering from 2017?
@@real_g3099 Nice, I was going to recommend that book. I would take the long exams at the end of that book. Keep taking them until you consistently pass with 75% or higher. In addition, I would take the Chapter Exams that are on the topics that you did the worst in. Keep taking those exams until you consistently pass with 75%.

Nope, Pivot Point and Milady are the 2 books that the test references for their questions. You'll be good with Pivot Point.
Does this all apply to every state? I'm taking my written exam in Utah in one day. Struggling on how to study for this properly.
UPDATE: I failed with a 26%……. Smh.
This does not apply to every state, however, it does apply in Utah. Utah uses the NIC Exam.

@barberdoza What book you prefer? I have only Milady exam review book.
Personally, I used the Milady textbook and the Milady exam review book.
Read the chapter in the textbook and then take the chapter exam in the exam review book. Focus on the chapters that are included in Alaska’s CIB.
Any one has advices for the Fl state exam and what chapters I should study more i already study the Miladys small book and it’s doesn’t help you enough with the laws and regulations of barbering i feel like it be missing some important questions that shows up in the state exam I failed test once already by 5 points I would appreciate any advice from the barbering community thank you bless up 🙏🏼
This is the Candidate Information Bulletin I found for Florida. Main advice is to focus on studying all the topics in this CIB.

I just looked. Unfortunately, this is not for Pennsylvania. However, I did just find their Candidate Information Bulletin that tells you what is on the Theory Exam and what to expect for your Practical Exam. I highly recommend using this as your main resource since it is from the Board of Barbering from Pennsylvania.

If you’re looking for questions, I recommend using Milady’s Exam Book for practice questions. It’s not necessary but is helpful.

California, but this no longer applies to California. They recently changed their test. I released a new video for California.
This video does still apply to any state using the NIC. You can check through your state’s barber board website. Where are you?
