Yea after seeing the new movie I’m glad they went the direction they did with the “Avengers Spider-Man” and now that that has come to an end and he can become the more comic accurate Spider-Man. They did this new movie great
the thing that frustrates me the most about this spider-man is that the villains he's faced so far have more beef and history with tony stark than they do with him. It completely takes away the aspect that makes so much spider-man villains so interesting; their relation to peter parker.
I do understand your point about the Tony stark villains and respect it, I personally see it differently With the vulture, although Tony is the reason he loses his job, toomes never really hates stark and doesn’t really want anything to do with him, he uses stark and his wealth as an excuse to justify selling weapons in a sorta “where’s mine” behaviour, he is clearly living comfortably in a huge house in New York but because others are wealthier than him in general he vilifies them so that he is in the right in his own mind With mysterio, he’s definitely a villain because of stark but I also feel he’s similar in the way that he is spiteful against the world for idolising superheroes and not him, I definitely think that his team shouldn’t of also been stark employees though because that bar scene is what ties him so close to stark
It’s comments like this that show me that you don’t understand Spider-Man nor the comics, the villains in the comics don’t start off beefing with Spider-Man, they end up beefing with him because spidey is the only one around TO stop them. It’s the same thing with MCU spidey, only difference is that this is the first time spidey is in movies with other heroes so they try to show that. Mysterio being a former stark employee was a great twist and while he does hate tony he also definitely hates Spider-Man and wants to kill him.
The scene from Spiderman 2 where after saving the train and the passengers aboard realize that Spiderman is just a kid, and unanimously decide to not reveal his secret identity to the world is one of the best scenes in any film, not just a superhero film.
For me it's how Disney erased Peter's working class background - his class struggles pretty much shape him as a character, from how he tries to provide for his aunt and himself and how he relates to his community MCU Spider-Man is now an heir to a billionaire's tech company, and even before that he seemed pretty well-off, in Far from Home the issues Tony's workers faced weren't really addressed at the end Disney's always been pretty bad at dealing with class issues tbh
He is not an heir to his tech at all, all Tony gave him was the glasses, he doesn’t get any other money, as you can see in FFH, May and Peter are still living in a small apartment, not a big mansion and in the extended scene you see he sells his toys to get a gift for MJ. I think that’s the problem I have when people critique the new SM movies is because they blow up things like a final gift from Tony Stark into being more than it is.
@@charlestaylorco8713 Those glasses are awful because they’re stylized as Iron Man’s and not Spidey. Also every movie that Spider-Man is in, there is *always* some big expensive gift or upgrade from Mr Stark. It is a big deal. Spider-Man is his own and Holland’s doesn’t feel that way. He uses Stark tech on his own suit and wears things similar to Tony. We get it. He’s Tony’s pupil now let him be SPIDER-MAN.
If he was poor, his relationship with the first villain would be more impactful, a guy who's mad at the riches and who had to strugle with the loss of his and other people jobs This would be perfect for Spidey And at the end he just put the guy in jail, the problem wasn't resolved, heroes are still a fuck up
Spider-Man can’t be Spider-Man in the MCU. He will always be treated like a sidekick because the idea of a starry eyed kid with the Avengers is a more profitable idea. He’s Spider-Teen.
@@MrChristo93 Peter Parker lost all the charm by making him the unofficial adopted son of a billionaire. The glasses? Another suit with Stark tech? What have you done to Spider-Man, MCU?

Hulk,Thor,İronman,Loki,Hawkeye,Antman,Guardians of the Galaxy and Thanos deffinetly improved from writers not understanding their comic counterparts. Mcu Spiderman is basically Miles Morales. Just White.
That's exactly how I feel. Tom Holland has the potential to be the perfect Spider-Man, but what keeps him from that is horrible writers that don't understand the character.
@@Rotodojo-yf9sq it's not the writers problem it's actually the mcu isn't giving freedom to make spiderman because if that happens then spiderman would become better than avengers
@@IamNKSyo while I do agree that the writers definitely lack freedom due to the restriction of having to fit in this narrow cinematic universe Tom Holland's material isn't really that great either. He's supposed to be 15/16 but oftentimes acts/sounds more immature & childish than the 13 year old cast in Harry Potter 3, like he's forced to play a caricature of what Disney/Hollywood thinks 16 year olds sound like.
Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man was grounded. Psychological. Peter Parker was challenged. But this one is just a side kick who is constantly bailed out of problems.
@isaacthegoat1432 really? Because how I remember it is he then decides yet again that they can't be together. Which would've been a fine ending to that bad "romance" arc. But then he wins her over anyway in the worst way possible(her cheating on her fiance with him), ultimately, both characters learned nothing.
@isaacthegoat1432 Peter telling MJ they can't be together(again) means he had to re-learn that he can't be with her. Being with spiderman will hurt the other more than it would if they weren't with him. To protect the one he loves he can't get what he wants in the end. He has the power to do it but it is his responsibility to make sure that he is doing the right thing. If you think about it, that's the same lesson he learned in the end of the first movie but they butchered it in 2 by having MJ be like, "I don't care I will do whatever it takes." Which is a contradiction because she ends up getting jealous of Peter for being Spiderman in 3.
Old Spider-Man was a lone wolf, he managed his own hardships, he was miserable, poor, and we could see him crying in every movie but MCU didn't understood this, MCU only saw it as profit, now the iron man fans are supporting new Spider-Man because they are MCU fans not Spider-Man fans, old one stood up after falling, no one was supporting at his back. And I don't think MCU is gonna improve it, they made it less emotional and more comical. I mean the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series was quite better than it because there Spider-Man was the leader of the defenders. Hope you got it.
Seriously, did you watch the old movies, In SM2 & 3 Peter quits being Spider-Man and doesn't become Spidey again until he gets encouragement from Aunt May, also Peter doesn't get support from Tony, he actively gets held back by Tony when all he is doing is trying to help, he doesn't get it right until he does it himself, how do you take away that Peter can't do anything without Tony from that.
@@SiddharthShenoy he was given 2 suit from tony that gives him all the different webs he could ever have and giant arms he was given glasses that gives him control of a god damn A satellite
This is the main thing wrong with this: he’s given everything. Also, this Spider-Man doesn’t have his own villains or anything…. If you replaced Spider-Man with Ironman in this film, it would be an Ironman movie. These films are like Spidey was dropped into an Ironman film, where everything that happened connects to Ironman and the avengers, rather than connecting directly to him and his mistakes. If Norman Osborn existed in this universe, he would have never met Peter before their fight, and would have just been a competitor to Stark industries who hated Tony stark. This has been my biggest complaint for years with Tom Holland Spiderman. The dude has everything handed to him. And we know that he can do shit for himself. Spiderman is capable of fighting off the Avengers by himself. Tom's Spiderman lets Tony Stark do everything for him.
@@zulkifli4201 How so? All of his connections are gone now and he's all alone with no one to rely on, which seems to be the main complaint some people have about the MCU Spider-Man.
@@Kalakeiko yeah and the progress to make he reach that point is so stupid Plus No Way Home is just a fanservice movie, so the value is low at best I rather rewatch TASM or SM2 than that crap
Something always felt off with the MCU Spider-Man. It's like, I know I'm looking at Spider-Man, but it feels like there's nothing inside. His supporting cast is almost nonexistent or has been changed to the point of being unrecognizable. He no longer has his own stories to tell, it's just swept up into the larger MCU. His daily struggles are gone, his "friendly neighborhood" status is gone. These are not Tom Holland's flaws, but man, it's like eating off-brand cereal.
@kalakeiko6933 omg, get over it. No Way Home is only good because Tobey and Andrew are there. If it was just Tom, it wouldn't be good enough for a lot of people. Tobey and Andrew were solo from the start, they didn't have anyone to help them. And when they did, those people turned into villains. Tom gets everything handed to him like someone already said. He's not content with just helping ordinary people, he's always seeking a bigger mission. Tobey and Andrew's spidermen didn't have a choice. They were humble to the point they felt they need to give up what they wanted in order to protect people with their gift. Tom acts spoiled and annoying. No Way Home is great, but too little too late. Just because they fixed his character in the end doesn't erase how bad it was the first two movies, not counting his appearances in the Avengers movies.
@@bluewolf2708 Why are you so pressed? I just asked what they think of No Way Home after they've fixed the issues they have with the MCU version of Spider-Man. @@brandonmarrero3949 bro learn to read first, did I say I hate tom holland? Have I used the phrase "I hate tom holland"? No. I actually really like all actors who have portrayed spiderman. Its just that I love that scene among others. That's all. Where did the comparison between Actors even come from? Oh yeah low IQ NPCs like you bring that comparison in unnecessarily
Completely agreed! Spiderman was always my favorite superhero, and I grew up on that animated show. The Sam Raimi Spiderman movies were also my first exposure to superhero movies and I loved them. I actually really like Andrew Garfield's Spiderman, because like you said he's still the same character, they just changed Peter to more what the "modern HS loser" archetype looks like. Miles Morales, too, is an excellent Spiderman. But yeah Tom Holland (good actor, not his fault) isn't like that. And I guess I enjoyed his movies but they weren't the same. In other words, Garfield's and Maguire's Spidermen, as well as Miles Morales, are truly stars in their own Spidermen movies. Holland's Spiderman is a character in an Avengers movie that just happens to be about him. They also forget the most important thing about Spiderman: He is, truly, your friendly neighborhood Spiderman. He isn't the guy who travels around the world waving humanity. He doesn't have that luxury - he is the guy who is responsible for keeping NYC safe. Something goes down in NYC, and he's there. Because he's all about his family, his friends (such as they are), and his community.
what I loved about spiderman in the older comics was while he respected other superheroes and groups he also had kind of a carefree ambivalence about them(outside of the FF4 who he really did have a relationship with) I remember the time when he wanted to join the avengers not because they were the premiere heroes but simply because he thought he would get a good salary and when he found out the money wasn't all that he dipped on them with the quickness.......and I just like his need to be his own man and do thing his way and how it often clashed with others.......alot of that is played down in the mcu.
After seeing how great NWH wrapped all this up. Showing Tom’s growth through these 3 films a kind of origin trilogy instead of one origin movie. It’s really cool how much this made the other movies look good seeing them all build upon each other.
It's what can happen when you own the character and you know you can take your time developing a character instead of having to worry about, "it won't make enough money to get a sequel, so we gotta hurry and get as much story in one movie as we can."
It’s not an origin. It’s like a soft reboot. This wasn’t planned from the beginning. This movie was supposed to just be another MCU movie with Spider-Man fighting kraven at first. This was obviously a sharp left turn, not a conscious build up to something that was planned the entire time.

I understand this but I really didn't like the plot of the movie. A lot of it is just really really bad decision making that is really obviously bad. Like, idk, risking changing the universe just because you didn't get into a college (and not even considering the parameters of that risk). Or risking changing the universe cause you felt bad for blood thirsty villains. Also villains can't just be cured with a shot. Even at the ending, the spell could've been modified. None of the villains had anything to do with the MCU Peter Parker. No personal stake. Idk, I thought the movie had an awful plot. I did like seeing Tobey Maguire back tho.
@@jojomcjoe292 I did enjoy it. But I was just kinda frustrated watching it. I do prefer the Raimi movies. I did think it was cool seeing three spidermen work together.
I feel as though No way Home could fix these issues. The spell used by Dr. Strange could cut him off from the stark fund as they would forget him. It could be the set up of him having to start over without the support of the avengers.
I'm really hoping that by the end of the movie, Peter decides to fully commit to the spell and let's everyone forget that he's Spider-Man. This would allow him to finally stand on his own.
I enjoy MCU’s Spider-Man, I enjoy his energy, and the fact that he’s more jokey like he was in the comics. But I agree that Disney/Marvel are playing it too safe with him. I hate that everyone shits on Tom's Spiderman for being the least comic accurate nobody can ever give actual criticism to the new take without it just being based on a fixated biase or a side by side comparison of comic Spiderman's character. Which btw comics change universes and character personalities and stories all the time it's unfair to hold the standard of a fixated continuity when the comics don't follow the same rule.

I became fascinated by all these super heroes thanks to my grandma
@Chopper well he's always under the shadow of tony stark/iron man which is contradictory to the character of spider man being his own man, all of his villains are indirect, meaning that they dont have any conflict with peter/spidey but have it with iron man, i mean... they literally have to use already established villains from the past films like doc ock (spider man 2), electro (tasm 2), sandman (spider man 3), lizard (tasm) etc. You get it?
In my opinion the MCU Spider-Man movies feel more like palate cleansers, similar to the Antman films or even Captain Marvel. I think they should've treated Spidey like its own entity within the MCU, similar to the Guardians. Give his movies a more distinct style or feeling. HC & FFH to me just feel like MCU entries no. 16 & 23. The Guardians movies however actually feel distinct enough, like you're watching sth different in a way. The same goes for most of the phase 1 films, they each had their own unique style which is why it felt so special when those characters all shared the screen for the first time in Avengers or when the Guardians first interacted with the rest of the MCU in IW/Endgame. I also think it's not that smart to compare MCU Spidey with Raimi's Spidey that much as they're both different ages. I'd rather compare him with The Spectacular Spider-Man show which in my opinion is the perfect way to adapt a high school version of the character. The first 3 episodes alone give Peter more depth than the 2 MCU solo movies combined.
Very good example with GoTG. Those movies feel extremely distinct in the MCU and that's exactly what Spider-Man needs to be. Peter's stories are very much self contained but the MCU doesn't let them be.
The problem with the Home coming/Far from Home movies is that this Spider-Man is learning how to be the hero he should be from Tony Stark instead of himself… that’s the direction they choose to take to introduce him in the MCU instead of having him already been established or at least smart, skilled and resourceful enough to do things by himself… he’s more like poor man’s Spider-Man than anything else… hopefully “No way Home” will be better, which is probably why they are bringing back the Tobey and Andrew, because they were better depiction of the character and had superiors stories and a good understanding of what it takes to be that superhero than “Spider-Teen”.
Did you forget the entire premise of homecoming? where tony literally says to NOT be like him, and where peter literally learns to listen to himself and become his own hero
Tom Holland is just a Spider-Man/peter Parker variant, the others still exist in their own universes, as seen in Spider-Man no way home so ur problem is that the youngest Spider-Man variant is the least mature? BRUHHHHHHHHH
6:35 No way home spoilers ahead That problem is fixed. Tom's spiderman has faced, I'd say, the biggest consequence of his actions out of all three spidermen. He lost his Aunt may, but he also lost all the friends he made. Not just Ned and MJ, but the Avengers don't remember either, not happy, not doctor strange, no one does. After all they been through together as a team in Infinity war and Endgame, it's all forgotten. When doctor strange said "Nice knowing you, spiderman" at the end of the movie, it hit hard. About the character development part, Doctor strange told him to not call him sir at the beginning, but when he messes up the spell he reverts back to it with the lines "After all we've been through, I forget you're just a kid" and "call me sir!" And near the end, when Spidey tells strange to cast the spell where everyone forgets about him, strange says "call me Steven". Acknowledging his maturity. That's emotional Also, the part about "everything handed over to him". It's true he didn't make the Stark suits that he uses, but it is also true that he earned them and proved his right to use them at the end of the first movie when he used his homemade suit to stop vulture. Tom's Spidey is a more naive portrayal of Spiderman than Tobey and Andrew's. Like an actual teen that is still mentally developing. He was a kid making mistakes and being careless in all those movies. But by the end of No way home, he did learn a lot. EDIT: And I'm really looking forward to next 3 spiderman movies of the character in MCU to see how the behavioural changes take effect on his future actions
But that's the point,Bill is a psycopath,he sees superman the same way Lex Luthor seems superman, his entire dialogue is much like some of Luthor's monologue about superman.
This was truly something I could relate to. I always felt that something was amiss with the MCU Spider-Man but couldn’t figure out what. This helped me understand the difference. Great video ^^
I agree, but it's difficult to completely commit to a character that you don't own the movie rights to. I understand why the MCU went in this direction. Someone told me after watching NWH that all the movies were his origin story.
you shouldnt have to be told that, any background built prior to the present is considered to be an origin story. Youve never heard of a director making retcons? He obviously heard all of the complaints of the Tony Stark Jr. Spiderman. The other movies are a complete 180 from this one.
@@Awesomemusic19 Thank you, I loved No Way Home and it addressed most if not all of my issues with this Spider-Man however, what I find frustrating is how dome people act like it was somehow always planned and all these complaints about MCU Spider-Man over the last few years have been somehow prematurely made because we weren't patient enough. It's clearly a retcon that was designed to be written in a way that addresses the past while addressing the criticisms this interpretation has received; comics do it all the time (although usually with more flawed execution). It's not our job as fans of the character and audiences to somehow assume that he's going to mold into the Spider-Man we know 4 years from now.

@Anastasia's Secret You’re an idiot. She very clearly took on more black genetics than white. Stop supporting the idea of race swapping characters, it is literally more racist than keeping white characters as white. There are diverse characters in the comics so they should be used as opposed to using the name and popularity of a white character and changing their race to promote diversity. People of different races and ethnicities are treated as if characters like them cannot work on their own and need the popularity of white characters to work, and that is 100% false and extremely racist. You are supporting racism when you think you’re supporting diversity, you are adding to the problem. Also Mary Jane Watson was fully white in the comics so it is race swapping.
The issue with Spider-man is that i've followed him since I was young. I've seen him go to college, become a science teacher. I watched him grow up in the comics.....past that "he just a teen" stage. I'm an adult and so is he in the comics. Now, Hollywood wants to keep him as a kid forever. I have to watch him go through the "take you under my wing" over and over. All in all.....if I have to bite my tongue just so others can learn and love Spiderman as much as I did in the comics.......then so be it. I think its what the real comic book Spiderman would have done.
@@arkanamaster4961 Fair enough. Tom Holland says that he he would play Spiderman til the age of 30 and hes done. Like every movie star, they don't want to tight cast. Meaning reboot. That's even if Sony and Disney can play well together.
@@JimSmith-nb4tx Tom just recently reiterated what he meant by that. He said that if they decide to end MCU Spider-Man, he would gladly step aside for someone else to take his place (presumably Miles). "This spiderman doesn't have money problems, this spiderman doesn't have to face the consequences of his actions." Boy, No Way Home really changed a lot.
Hope they change things for the better. I mean, we still can't say this spiderman is good because we still have to see how they will manage this spiderman to have a neutral opinion
@@muscle2714 Totally agree. I would totally understand if they did 1 movie to explain his origin but 6 films is too much. Don't take me wrong, I loved NWH but I think that they are making excuses for the things that they did in the past with Spidey.
The MCU clearly doesn’t understand Spider-Man at all. How can anyone be a true Spider-Man fan to think Tom’s depiction of Spider-Man is the most comic book accurate? Anyways, here’s my opinion on the best versions of Spider-Man: - Tobey Maguire Spider-Man (Sam Raimi Spider-Man Trilogy) - Yuri Lowenthal Spider-Man (Spider-Man PS4) - Comic Spider-Man (60s-90s Spider-Man Comics/Ultimate Spider-Man/616 Spider-Man) - Josh Keaton Spider-Man (Spectacular Spider-Man) - Christopher Daniel Barnes Spider-Man (90s Spider-Man The Animated Series) Garfield in my opinion wasn’t bad but I don’t think he was great. And don’t mind the dislikes, you are 100% correct. MCU never even had a Spider-Man, they’ve just had an Iron Boy Jr.
@Andrew Casali I’ve always had great taste in Spider-Man. In my opinion, Comic Spider-Man is really underrated. I think the best comic versions of Spider-Man are 60s-90s Spider-Man comics, Ultimate Spider-Man, and 616 Spider-Man. But then again, the people who Think Tom Holland is the best and most comic accurate Spider-Man (possibly could be fangirls) probably didn’t know who Spider-Man was before Civil War and think he only appears in movies.
New movie basically confirmed that every other movie was his origin story and he’s now truly a Spider-Man he’s lost everything and sacrificed everything basically giving him a fresh start
If you think about it, the Spider-Man before No Way Home. Was just a kid. You’re right, he never had to face the consequences of his actions. I think the new movie was a great ‘coming of age’ moment for Spider-Man, and I think it’s helped him really come into his own character.
MCU did it right. Spider-Man’s first appearance in comics was with F4, then after that we got to know his story. These last 3 MCU Spider-Man movies are his origin. They wanted him in the Avengers movies which is understandable, but now he needs his own story. With the way NWH ended, we will finally get a real Spider-Man story with Tom.
But thing is, the whole point of Spider-man interacting with the F4 is to show the readers that Spider-man is still an outcast, even amongst heroes. He tried to join them, but it ended in a fight between the 2 parties, showing that Spider-man is mostly a solo act. It makes the readers understand that he can't just go to his other superpowered peers to fix his issues which MCU Spider-man does all the time. Heck, he relies heavily on stark tech for his fights. Kinda defeats the idea that Spidey is a commoner's hero, doesn't it?
@@junkaccount2535 yeah, one of his most popular first comics was with F4 I don’t remember if it was the first or second but its the one that boosted his popularity the most if Im not mistaken. @@JONZII7 Andrews Spiderman literally was a villain for a bit of the first movie being a fucking criminal being thirsty for revenge... That isn't Spiderman
Completely agree with this video! Spiderman just doesn't feel the same as he does in every other Spiderman media, for all the reasons you mentioned. No Way Home did do a good thing basically removing his connection to the Avengers and Stark but to be honest I'm still not the biggest fan and I don't think it justified how they set him up in the first place. Another point I haven't seen many people mention (at least in this comments section) is how a lot of his story beats are actually very similar to Miles Morales' story. I'm not that familiar with the comics so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but from my understanding Miles was: thrown into a conflict that he wasn't ready for, is trying to live up to another superhero's legacy (Peter Parker Spiderman), attends a prestigous science academy and has an Asian best friend (who acts as his "guy in the chair"), have everyone in his circle know he's Spiderman and have his suit given to him by someone else. These are all pretty much the same thing that happens to MCU Peter. What I'm trying to say is that another reason why I don't like MCU Peter is because it isn't a Peter Parker story, the writers just took points from Miles' story and gave it to Peter. Maybe it was a coincidence who knows but the points are so similar it doesn't feel like it is. I do appreciate they were trying something new but it really feels like they just ripped off Miles' story instead of using the rich amount of material Peter has and that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. A shame because I do think Tom Holland is a good Spiderman but his story and how they set him up really ruins it for me.
First of have u read ultimate spiderman That spider man was a teenager And also he created his own homemade suit And if you think he does not act independent in the movies then you are wrong
@@notAburner.promise Yes. I consider NWH on the same boat as Revenge of the Siths. Revenge of the Siths is a pretty good movie on its own, but it didn’t make The Phantom Menace nor Attack of the Clones any better.
Tom holland would be great if they made him struggle to be Spiderman, we never see him struggle to stay in school and work a part time job and be Spider-Man at the same time, we never see him frustrated by being Spider-Man but still taking up the suit because he has to, we see small bits but they don't leave the impact of a struggling superhero teenager who does what he does because he can't just sit down a let people get hurt even if it ruins his life, that my friends is why tobeys Spider-Man was so loved, a real hero.
People don't get that MCU Spidey was introduced as a highschooler. He's way younger than his other counter parts which go to college. The theme/lesson of homecoming was exactly to teach Peter that he can't just rely on the suit to do everything for him. MCU Peter has a character development arc through the entire trilogy, which ends now with no way home where he becomes the spiderman we know and love from the comics. The origin changed but the character is the same.
I’m so glad you made this video. I feel the exact same way. I didn’t like Homecoming or Far From Home at all, but with No away Home, I feel they are finally turning Spiderman into the Spiderman we (comic book fans) know and love.
I think that with NWH, we can look back at how Peter was really a fish-out-of-water character for the most part throughout all of the previous movies. He didn’t have all the answers, he barely knew what he was doing or what he wanted to do. Now that we got a hard reset, we can watch him try to learn from the past while building himself up. I also think that this story line gives a better “down on his luck” Peter story, where he was fighting god-like aliens with Tony Stark to struggling to pay rent and using low-tech gear again. I’m so excited!
as a kid it was tobey's portrayal of peter/spidey aswell as the spectacular spider-man series that i grew up with and was fond of, but as i got older the rendition that i became really attached to was andrew garfield's. the tasm movies came out when i was in high school and as i look back i realised it felt great to see and find myself relating to a character around my age, like peter parker i knew how it was to be an outcast and get bullied, i knew how hard it was to lose somebody i was close to, and i also knew how it felt to have a lot of weight poured on your shoulders for your actions. i really wish i could feel and say the same about the mcu's take on the character as i believe tom holland is great, he just needs a better written take and characterization arc than what he is given
I agree, totally. I love the Spider-Man movies, but something about the new ones have bothered me. They just don’t hold as much weight for his character..: he’s not like the comic book Spider-Man, where you’ll keep coming back for. The mcu Spidey is shallow and basic, and easy to get sick of. He’s not a breathing person the way Peter should be. He’s a caricature of his own self
@@zlch4021 THIS !!! not to mention, his supporting cast doesn't bring in so much impact when one of the best things about peter/spider-man's lore and journey are the people in his life!

I’m no cinema expert, but I’m pretty certain the MCU Spider-Man trilogy was directed all by the same guy, and they all consequently have a very similar tone/direction/characterization. It would be hard to imagine someone making a convincing that they’re not.
nwh is the movie that tom spidey becomes real spiderman and i also think that the guy made this video changed his mind. tom is not using tech suits anymore. hes not mcu spiderman anymore.

the thing that frustrates me the most about this spider-man is that the villains he's faced so far have more beef and history with tony stark than they do with him. It completely takes away the aspect that makes so much spider-man villains so interesting; their relation to peter parker.
Now this i agree with
I do understand your point about the Tony stark villains and respect it, I personally see it differently
With the vulture, although Tony is the reason he loses his job, toomes never really hates stark and doesn’t really want anything to do with him, he uses stark and his wealth as an excuse to justify selling weapons in a sorta “where’s mine” behaviour, he is clearly living comfortably in a huge house in New York but because others are wealthier than him in general he vilifies them so that he is in the right in his own mind
With mysterio, he’s definitely a villain because of stark but I also feel he’s similar in the way that he is spiteful against the world for idolising superheroes and not him, I definitely think that his team shouldn’t of also been stark employees though because that bar scene is what ties him so close to stark

The end of that scene is ruined for me when that one guy sees Tobey in his 30s and is like "he's just a kid!"
Absolutely true
For me it's how Disney erased Peter's working class background - his class struggles pretty much shape him as a character, from how he tries to provide for his aunt and himself and how he relates to his community
MCU Spider-Man is now an heir to a billionaire's tech company, and even before that he seemed pretty well-off, in Far from Home the issues Tony's workers faced weren't really addressed at the end
Disney's always been pretty bad at dealing with class issues tbh
He is not an heir to his tech at all, all Tony gave him was the glasses, he doesn’t get any other money, as you can see in FFH, May and Peter are still living in a small apartment, not a big mansion and in the extended scene you see he sells his toys to get a gift for MJ. I think that’s the problem I have when people critique the new SM movies is because they blow up things like a final gift from Tony Stark into being more than it is.
Lilo and Stitch is the only Disney movie I can think of that really deals with class well
@@charlestaylorco8713 Those glasses are awful because they’re stylized as Iron Man’s and not Spidey. He uses Stark tech on his own suit and wears things similar to Tony. We get it. He’s Tony’s pupil now let him be SPIDER-MAN.
If he was poor, his relationship with the first villain would be more impactful, a guy who's mad at the riches and who had to strugle with the loss of his and other people jobs
This would be perfect for Spidey
And at the end he just put the guy in jail, the problem wasn't resolved, heroes are still a fuck up

I became fascinated by all these super heroes thanks to my grandma
Tom holland feels like side character in his own movies
Tom Holland does not represent Spider-man at all, nor does he fit the role of Nathan Drake. Hollywood and Bollywood have lost their minds completely.
It’s not Tom’s fault it’s the writers
@Oof how? he abandons his whole idea of wanting to become an avenger because he becomes his own hero
Tom Holland is just a Spider-Man/peter Parker variant, the others still exist in their own universes, as seen in Spider-Man no way home so ur problem is that the youngest Spider-Man variant is the least mature? BRUHHHHHHHHH
Man’s really hating that an alternate reality is not the same as the previous 2 realities of the previous variants… BRUHHH

That problem is fixed.
About the character development part,
Doctor strange told him to not call him sir at the beginning, but when he messes up the spell he reverts back to it with the lines
"After all we've been through, I forget you're just a kid" and "call me sir!"
And near the end, when Spidey tells strange to cast the spell where everyone forgets about him, strange says "call me Steven". Acknowledging his maturity. That's emotional
Also, the part about "everything handed over to him".
EDIT:
And I'm really looking forward to next 3 spiderman movies of the character in MCU to see how the behavioural changes take effect on his future actions

….No, just no. “Half white” doesn’t mean anything. Mary Jane Watson is a redhead. She is white. Zendaya may be half white but she’s not a redhead and she’s still not fully white. And it was just for diversity brownie points, there’s no way anyone thought she was perfect to play MJ, the character is nothing like the comics and the same can be said for the actress. They went so far as to make MJ her nickname when her name isn’t even Mary Jane, it’s a bunch of bs. Zendaya is not Mary Jane Watson and is just another case if ginger discrimination, another ginger being black washed. There are actual black women in the comics ya know, the comics aren’t just full of white people. I hope the MCU doesn’t do the X-men because they’re just going to do this to Jean Grey too, I just know it.

The MCU clearly doesn’t understand Spider-Man at all. How can anyone be a true Spider-Man fan to think Tom’s depiction of Spider-Man is the most comic book accurate?

- Tobey Maguire Spider-Man (Sam Raimi Spider-Man Trilogy)
- Yuri Lowenthal Spider-Man (Spider-Man PS4)
- Comic Spider-Man (60s-90s Spider-Man Comics/Ultimate Spider-Man/616 Spider-Man)
- Josh Keaton Spider-Man (Spectacular Spider-Man)
- Christopher Daniel Barnes Spider-Man (90s Spider-Man The Animated Series)

The first red flag was every major Spidey villain having a grudge with Tony Stark
Well they just fixed it.

That isn't Spiderman
No way home makes 90% of this video obsolete
First of have u read ultimate spiderman
That spider man was a teenager
And also he created his own homemade suit
And if you think he does not act independent in the movies then you are wrong
Sounds like a u problem.
This video just aged horribly after watching No Way Home 🤷🏽♂️😂
Just because NWH gets it right doesn't mean the others do as well
@@notAburner.promise Yes. I consider NWH on the same boat as Revenge of the Siths. Revenge of the Siths is a pretty good movie on its own, but it didn’t make The Phantom Menace nor Attack of the Clones any better.
Should update now that Tom IS Spider-Man
The past 2 movies were setting up this transform of Peter Parker so honestly it seems like they were just misunderstood
I never thought of this. You made a really good point here. MCU Spider-Man just feels like a add on to a Marvel superhero game
All we see is Tom struggling not to make shit worse for everybody all while wanting to be Iron Man.
Until the very end of No Way Home. Yay.
Hasn't that already been done?
But today MCU took everything from Spiderman and made his lifestyle just like Andrew and Tobey Maguire
Not Andrew Andrew never had money problem

Tom Holland is now a valid Spider-Man he’s not iron boy jr anymore
Took him long enough...
@@harrambou9468 how bro, “iron boy jr” thing makes absolutely no sense at all

He isn't and will never be.

This didn’t age well
Sure it did. NWH was shit
I’m so glad you made this video. I feel the exact same way. I didn’t like Homecoming or Far From Home at all, but with No away Home, I feel they are finally turning Spiderman into the Spiderman we (comic book fans) know and love.
Tom as Spider-Man is really good but his storylines is what making him feel like a iron man jr
I’m so excited!
with iteration of spider-man he's not really spider-man he's iron man jr
Well Peter Parker was human torch jr in the comics so there's that
as a kid it was tobey's portrayal of peter/spidey aswell as the spectacular spider-man series that i grew up with and was fond of, but as i got older the rendition that i became really attached to was andrew garfield's. the tasm movies came out when i was in high school and as i look back i realised it felt great to see and find myself relating to a character around my age, like peter parker i knew how it was to be an outcast and get bullied, i knew how hard it was to lose somebody i was close to, and i also knew how it felt to have a lot of weight poured on your shoulders for your actions. i really wish i could feel and say the same about the mcu's take on the character as i believe tom holland is great, he just needs a better written take and characterization arc than what he is given
I agree, totally.
Same!! Andrew's portray was the most relatable to me

This is actually a really interesting take, especially after watching nhw... It's like they knew what they were doing all along. He went from having everything given to him to starting over with NOTHING🤭
It’s like directors of the mcu know what they were doing the whole time, who would’ve known, people act Ike the directors are the same from the SW sequels
@@HyperNebula nah they were going either film by film or the writers suck cause the disconnect between the films is extremely noticeable, this being in terms of direction, characterisation, the big stuff. It's more likely that someone of the enormous creative teams they have for these things saw the criticism MCU Spider-Man was getting and brought it to the attention of the higher-ups, so they soft rebooted the character to fix the issues quick and get people back on-board with this iteration.
No Way Home just trashed on this whole video lmao
No way home shows mcu understands spiderman
Your gripes appear to have been addressed good sir
Tobey Maguire is the best Spiderman in my opinion and almost mirrors the 90s animation Spiderman which I love. The 90s Marvel animations is one of the best things Marvel made.
no way home is here. i think its a reboot on to make spiderman understand who he is
NWH seems to have listened to alot of these critiques
I have good news that many of these problems get fixed in this last movie No Way Home
Heyy nice video. I agree with a lot of the points you're making and it made me kinda want to give the amazing spiderman a shot. I'd say you could turn up the volume of your voice a bit though, its very low compared to the movie clips. I look forward to more of your videos~
