      Add a page or two in the rules of what the different icons should look like. This idea reminds me of kill marks on a ww2 fighter or slashes on a gunslinger's pistol grip.

    As a member of the tribe of lazy painters, I heartily support the idea of earning the various painted on details after victories. Of course, that also means that I will be tempted to loose all my battles so that I won't have to paint anything else on my bot...

    • @livanbard
      @livanbard Рік тому +2

      Why not just glue stickers/decals on? That could be cool.

    • @fr.davideynon6984
      @fr.davideynon6984 Рік тому +8

      @@livanbard The tribe of lazy painters has a rule about stickers and decals. We are totally against them. Instead, I think might put one or more toothpicks on the backpack of my bot. For every win, I will put a bead onto a toothpick. If I am feeling ambitious, I might add some eyes to each bead, so they represent all the "skulls" my bot has collected through all of its battles.

    26:45 idea for a terrain piece. A travelling weapons stall/caravan that has a metal strip you can stick all the spare attachments on to keep them safe.

    Sadly my friends aren't much into tabletop games outside D&D, but I'm sure I can trick them into playing it by having a beadbot companion they can control so I actually look forward to the full game and the following episodes.

    I love the idea of bots earning their stripes over the course of a campaign. I just would like the symbols to be kept as simple as possible because it's going to be difficult to pay complex symbols if you have a limited skill or time

    • @Bluecho4
      @Bluecho4 Рік тому

      I can imagine using masking tape to create thin vertical, horizontal, or diagonal lines across parts of the bot. Or better yet, cutting geometric shapes into bits of the masking tape, applying it, then using it to stencil the shapes onto the bots.

    My 18 yr old daughter and I will definitely be playing your game together! She loved your Tonks battle report and the tank you built too - she's a big fan of tanks 🙂
    You may already have one but can I recommend a needleworker's magnetic pincushion, either for your desk or one for your wrist (as often seen on the Great British Sewing Bee!)? I sew and knit and so on and I have had a basic desk version for over 20 years now. They are so incredibly useful! You can just throw anything small and metallic (as long as it has some iron content) in its rough direction and it will grab it!
    It's also incredibly useful for those moments when a CAT knocks a box of pins off the table as you can just hoover them up off the floor with it 😀
    I really envy your seemingly endless well of creativity, Bill! Whenever I feel like mine is waning, I come back and watch some of your videos.
    I know that it's not an endless well because UA-cam Bill is NOT IRL Bill but as someone who has an endless urge to create but always struggles with coming up with ideas, thank you so much for sharing your work with us nonetheless.
    And please take care of yourself, protect that well of creativity, burnout is a very real thing that happens to UA-camrs.

    Looks like I discovered this channel at exactly the right time. My son and I have started collecting bits for 'bots and I'm looking forward to the game.
    I have a couple of questions that I've not been able to find answers to in the vids or website:
    1) I see you using various gauges of armature wire - spine, arm and finger (?). what would be some good widths to start out with? I got 2mm on order, what else do I need?
    2) You spray the things every so often - what is it and why?
    3) Where'd these beads come from?! I thought I'd be able to easily order a variety of wooden beads online, but it's weirdly hard.
    Thanks!

    17:50 I _do_ know what that is. It's from a Transformers Construct-Bot kit... that probably would have been part of a thigh or upper arm frame. They make for odd actual Transformers, but they're a treasure trove of useful parts for kitbashing.

    I'm assuming you've watched 'em before, but in case you haven't, I'd recommend you watch 1987's "Robot Carnival". It's an hour and a half film that is a 9 part anthology with the only common element in the shorts being "robots are involved."
    The "Opening" and "End" segments is how I imagine the Gutterlands in motion, and "Franken's Gears" feels like a story that could happen in your setting. "A Tale of Two Robots" tonally feels like something you'd like, "Presence" is just a classic, and "Nightmare" is your exact aesthetic.
    Each segment had at max a staff of like 5 people, so it's rad to see what a small team can and want to actually make

    As for the decals, what if they serve as either like you suggested l the amount of kills or specialty your bot provides but also what if it serves as sponsorships? So maybe you get different kinds of decals depending on who sponsoring the bot.

    Awesome video!! I think I enjoyed more the dino-riding beadbot from episode 44, but this one comes close.
    YES please, we want to see more beadbots for Bangarang, I think the remaining 3 types are going to be even more interesting!
    I had not made beadbots for a long time, but now I am shuffling aside projects to make more beadbots.
    Also love the idea of medals and glyphs! Can’t wait to print and read the rules and get my kids to make their own bots.

    I really appreciate how you explain 'warming up' the inspiration by sketching in the sketchbook. I only recently found it to be a great way to get motivated to start working. As for the bots accumulating awards for their successes,, you mind find the idea of battle streamers useful. They'd have a back banner similar to those worn by Samurai, but for each victory they gain a streamer. The number of battle streamers they collect over time could be quite intimidating. Maybe the head of a defeated adversary as a pole topper. Peace!

    Love the idea of the victory emblems/details, also I think doing one of each type would be great.

    Dude, I'm so psyched about Bangarang! I made my first steps into this hobby by making a beadbot, so the prospect of a beadbot game is AWESOME!

    I love playing I spy with your bits collections. 17:49 that is hip/shoulder joint from the transformers constructibot toy line. Basically it was transformers trying to copy the formula of bionicle. Got a bunch of the fellas for Christmas as a kid; they were a blast! Great video as always!

    That sketchbook looks amazing! You should get that scanned in and release a PDF or use the Illustrations in your game manual. Either way, great work!

    Great video as always. Gotta tell you, my nephew texted a pic of something he crafted & I told him that he needs to check you out. I thought he'd really like you. I get a text back, "Is that the guy with the weird cardboard cat?" I couldn't recall another one & I told him "Yep." So there's you at least 2 fans from my area. LOL
    Also, Cat, please let Bill keep on Making Stuff!!!

    Oh no, fact checking suggested in a Bill Making Stuff video! Might want to fix that in the edit... oh, editing's done? Whoops. Loving the game plan... er, the game you're planning, not the "game plan" like... uh... I'm just going to shut up now. Earning stripes/decals is awesome! What you REALLY need, though, is a weapon pack of some kind, to store each of the hands/guns in. Something that can roll along for Bangarang, keep up with the bot so it can swap out the hands as needed. (And so you don't lose them. But that's just a handy side effect. Yes. Definitely.)
    I do have a request, though, that maybe you might name the pages of your Gutterlands website something other than "copy-of-creatures", "copy-of-creatures-1", and "copy-of-world". Kinda grates, like all the baking soda that's gotta be under your fingernails.
