- It's One Hell of A Job...
There are hard jobs, there are jobs that seem outright impossible, but in the end, the most difficult job in all creation probably belongs to Hozuki, Hell's hardest working bureaucrat. That's because Hozuki is Deputy Chief to Enma, the King of Hell. Enma spends all his time sitting in judgment of the recently deceased, so it's up to Hozuki to keep the dark half of the afterlife running smoothly. And that would be hellishly complicated even if Hell wasn't constantly short on good help. Fortunately, Hozuki's not the typical bureaucratic hothead you'd expect to find heading a department of infernal affairs. Fiendishly clever and determined enough to dedicate multiple lifetimes to a task (though not necessarily his OWN lifetimes), he'll get the job done even if it means breaking a few unbreakable rules and running circles around Hell's normal operating procedures. As for patience… well, Hell hasn't frozen over quite yet, so the verdict's still out on that, but he doesn't suffer fools lightly, let alone damned fools. After all, that Highway to Hell isn't going to get paved with just good intentions, so if someone has to suffer for all eternity, Hozuki's damned sure that it's not going to be himself in HOZUKI'S COOLHEADEDNESS!

way too underrated!! this anime is one of my all time faves. its just all around good vibes n all the characters are really funny and lovable. been over a year since i watched it but the opening still makes me smile lmao

There is literally a separate hell for animal abusers in this anime, where they get tortured by talking animals. 10/10

Love this anime, characters are great, it's hilarious, so many laugh out loud moments, and it's interesting to learn a bit about Japanese mythology too. I really recommend!

Great anime series. It's like Gintama but about life in hell. My favorite characters are Hozuki, Shiro, Mustard, Ichiko & Niko (Zashiki-warashi girls), I hope it will have season 3 in netflix.

Well, in more detail than that. They sing about the eight great hells, and the various divisions thereof (they sing that there's 272 in all). But they do so happily, saying it's great and fun!

The anime actually described how I envisioned heaven and hell was like. They get punished for how many years depending on how much they sinned and then gets sent to the cycle of reincarnation. I prefer Enma's hell rather than Satan's.

I remember in one scene, Hozuki did explain that people will go to the Hell of the religion you follow so if you are a Christian then Christian Hell it is. Satan does appear in this anime too. Also people follow Buddhism and Shintoism like majority of Japanese don't go to Heaven. Heaven (Togenkyo where Hakutaku lives) or Takamagahara is a place for Gods only. Humans will be reincarnated to another life. Only some exceptional humans will be allow to live in Heaven like Momotaro in this anime, who was a hero that killed the Oni tormented people in Muromachi era.

It'd be difficult. The series doesn't just talk about Asian Mythology and it also mentions Japanese Media. A lot of the time, if you don't get what the jokes refer too, it kinda goes over your head. But yeah, it would be pretty fun to see this with english voices.
GRIM Davis I cannot see dub doing it much justice because they use puns that only work in Japanese
