This week's Mutation Mission is done on the Void Launch map. This map is great as it allows for a wide variety of strategies, as the enemies are coming to you, rather than you fighting them directly.
Because of that we decide to go for Karax and Swann, and focus on as much static defense as possible.
Amon will stop at nothing to destroy you. Even in death, his minions strike back at you with a final, devastating gambit. Keep your distance as you dispatch your foes, or you might join them in defeat.
Aggressive Deployment: Additional enemy units are periodically deployed onto the battlefield.
Self Destruction: Enemy units explode and deal damage to nearby player units upon death.
Alien Incubation: All enemy units spawn Broodlings upon death.

those scientists in those shuttles are so crazy, like "umm, captain, there are a bunch of Zerg in our way, shouldn´t we turn back?" "nonsense, we must research those damn relics, even if we die!"
I just assume those transports are merely just robotic transports for robotic probes/rovers

Straightfoward mutation this week, it went pretty smoothly after the first attack ( I could've defended that a bit better :x ). All in all it was pretty fun, gg! Also thanks everyone for the happy birthday's :D.

Something I have wanted to try in Coop for a long time is: use Raynor's drop pods to spawn units in the enemy base/at the objective point. With the drop pod attack speed increase and stim they should be able to deal tons of damage in no time flat. You could try something like this with Artanis' warp in and Raynor's drop pods. Don't build up a force, just spawn units exactly where you need them when you need them. Once they are no longer needed at that location "a-move" them towards the enemy base (to their deaths). It could be a fun challenge, you would probably need extra production structures and some static defenses.

It's been mentioned a few times, but lurkers(kerrigan) and impalers(dehaka) would be very amusing, probably most effective on train robbery levels.

For those who are having trouble with Aggressive Deployment, the extra waves always spawn near your army, so make sure to keep your army on the map to prevent economic and infrastructure damage. Other tips:
- It's always better worth to go for vespene drone mastery over laser drill mastery. The 700 minerals you save in the early game goes a long way into things like static defense and saturation.
- Best economic opener for Swann: 14 Depot, 15 Factory [Use 4SCVs], 17 Blaster Billy at expansion [x2], salvage after breaking rocks, then use 8 SCVs to make your expansion.
- Flaming Betties should go in front because they have less range.
- Swann's static defense has area damage. Not sure why you thought Karax would deal more damage.
- You should go for a single Hercules with 8 Sieged tanks inside, to pair with mass Goliath. It's basically mass goliath with a "hero unit".
Do you think it would make sense to have a line of spinning dizzies in front of the anti ground defenses, to soak up some initial attacks and disrupt movement, but not die, since enemies would quickly retarget to the flaming betties behind?
Betties also have the most health and cost half as much as devastation turrets. I also think supply depots should actually be put in front of them with some gaps in between them because the enemies don't really target them and so they help funnel melee units in more manageable amounts.
I'm triggered because Lowko didn't use the vespene drones to harvest extra free vespene for him and Karax, specially for Karax since he's in the need for too much more vespene. >_< Lowko I expected today the SC1 Remastered continuation!

they both masses Static defense with no units thus were probably both flooding gas.
karax burns through gas even with defense. especially when they have 3 points to defend.
Still could've been useful:
--Karax' Khadarian Monuments cost 300/100
--Both tower upgrades (+2 range and +25% attk speed) cost 200/200 each
--upgrades for Shield Battery (Fortification Barrier and regen energy rate +100%)
--Shield upgrades are relatively costly (200/200, 250/250, and 300/300 for lv1, lv2, and lv3 respectively)
And his Monument towers are expensive, but nice. They have the range and DPS to take down Hybrids like nobody's business

Hey Lowko,
As you asked for feedback (also for other players):
- Dont build "military" buildings in your base that can shoot ! In this mutation this attracts enemy spawn drops. Both your expansions would have been perfectly safe without the static defense buildings near your base (except you let the normal waves slip through your defense line of course). Clear the expansion rocks with the airdrop or sell your static defense after the rocks are down.
- If this would have been an enemy baneling/Scourge combo , you could have used swanns air transporters. It will tank a lot of scourge hits while its cheap and easy to replace (or warp away at low hp). This also prevents scourges to gather over your buildings as you dont have air units around to attack and then drop a ton of broodlings/explosions right in the middle/behind of your defense line when your anti air tower shoot it down. In some cases, scourges just keep flying into your base eco when there is nothing to attack, which causes you to return to base and attract even more enemy drops in your base.
- Build your defense buildings more to the front under the cliffs were the waves walk along and some betties along the passages to low ground. This way you can avoid the massive explosions from the broodlings on your buildings and block melee units. The broodlings get taken care by the betties. Use Karax spotters or swanns transport ships on hold positon to keep vision of high ground
- As Zerg player (especially Kerrigan) you can use nydus canals right next to your lair, so produced units dont walk all the way through your base and immediately dissappear from near your drones. This greately reduces the chance of enemy spawns near the eco and prevents intercepts of freshly produced units on the way to the front.
- This mutation is finally perfect for Abathur with mass queens and tumorskills play. You just have to get a Brutalisk out until the second wave. Was able to solo it on brutal against protoss heavy ground.
- You should have used the vespine drone skills. In general its better than the laser drill update time, since you will be able to update the drill earlier as more gas is availabe so same timing effect as with the other skill that you cant trigger without enough gas for the update. But in addition, this also helps your allies and you will get more gas heavy units earlier. Just try it once and you wont go back :)
- Also you should have used the vespine at your expansion. Even without SCVs the drones would have helped Sushi a lot as Karax´ upgrades are very expensive and the Obelisks cost a ton
- Maybe it was due to the strategy to only build static that you and sushi used, but as Karax he should use energizers. This also buffs up Swanns building a lot and turns your anti air into machine gun rocket apocalypses for enemy shuttles..
On something like this, I've found you clean things up even faster with less danger if you just set a few blockades/distractions out in front of your buildings. For example, Build your defense, then put some quick supply depots or pylons in a wall to stop the wave of exploding death minions, so the defense can safely fire stuff down. You'll have to keep rebuilding the wall, but it's cheaper on most commanders than the defense buildings. Just can't built it too far out or the defense won't have the range. Alternatively, on the shuttle map, if you build up defense at the base of the cliff and get vision up top you can kill a lot of stuff before it can reach you to damage you--works great with Karax's towers since they have such a long range. I just put a few pylons up top, because they give vision and the enemy will ignore the pylons and run along the cliff to get the defense at the bottom (if placed right) giving lots of time to shoot them down en route.

Same! Also interfering with the karax' defensive formations by building inside his pylons, and not building more bettys when he sees the drop pods have a ton of lings

17:29 on the minimap you can see the research shuttle get yanked back by a viper. I didn't know they could do that to those.
Previous mutation on the shuttles map with the infestation and disease mutations. Karax and swann together made it laughably easy. Karax massacred hybrids and swann swept away the infested swarms. Both were an impassable wall for the shuttles

Before Dehaka, Karax and Swann were *easily* my favorite commanders, so this video is really a happy dream come true.
I did this on brutal with Artanis mass Tempest and Karax as my buddy. Worked great, even completed the bonus objective.

Hey since I just heard you say that you try to read all of your comments (and therefore you'll probably read this), I thought I'd leave you one. I love your videos! I used to play starcraft 2 quite a lot, and was like a platinum-ish zerg player. I used to watch HuskyStarcraft all the time but then he fell off the planet or something. I discovered your channel a few months ago and sort of re-kindled my starcraft obsession. The game has changed quite a bit! Anyway, keep up the good work Lowko!

You can take this strategy further, by loading 25 scvs into a hercules, and using tactical jump to brings your scvs to the front line and mass building turrets as offense. Also, if you mass build turrets without using shift, the leftover scv's will automatically help build structures in progress, allowing you to build frontlines really quickly

Hi Lowko! I think Zagara could be a good options in this mission! Or at least could be funny to try it ;) I have completed the mission with her. You could make Banelings and Scourge. They can clean all enemies easily! It was a piece of cake!

Heh, don't know if you've really done this, but bunker/overseer/siege tank on Dead of Night can be seriously powerful; once you line up 3-4 bunkers, back them with 3 siege tanks, and an overseer to provide vision. It does have a weakness though; spotters, or Tempests can take them out without getting in range of the bunkers, but an ally with solid anti air can cover.
Lowko, you Have to try They are Billions. It is an RTS survival game where you protect your steampunk colony from infeste- I mean zombies. It is addicting.

I had a huge sucess with Alarak / Karax on this one. Alarak's ability to push everything out while dealing damage is great vs. these minions that are being spawned after u deal with the basic units. Shield batteries can regen alarak unit's shields and ascendants deal with everything that basicly exists. GG.
Gas drones. Not as important for this strat, but if you or your ally were going for mass science vessels or observers, (reveal the entire map strat) they're good.
Mass idle workers for Swann. It seems counter-intuitive, but having lots of idle workers makes building construction, and repair, almost instantaneous.
Good win. Buildings everywhere.

More games than not, the shuttles get intercepted and destroyed far before the transport points. Nice to give them a "fighting chance" in this game, and let towers shine more!

Mutation I did a while ago with Swann was. Korhal Rifts. With Rift Stones and Mines. I just made all 4 bases safe. And my ally stomped the rest. Support from Swann was the Laser Drill and a few Sci Vessels. Ally was Han and Horner. It worked great on Brutal. I would just spot mines take the hit and heal my vessels with each other. And Rift Spawns got obliterated by Swann static defenses with Tanks. It was glorious.
Honestly. I think they should make Swann more Turret centric. His Laser Drill covers the entire map. Kind of fun to have a different playstyle from the regular. If you wanna just mass units and that type of thing. We do have Raynor, Kerrigan, and Artanis! :-).

i just wish i could find competent person to play brutal coops, and many random coops end up on hard or normal, because brutal cant be found :(
Along with abathur, Matt Horner is my favourite StarCraft character. What do you think of the new commander. I like it but from the way winter's video went, you don't really get Matt's units. What was your experience with the commander?
I think a Zagara going only Scourge and an Artanis going only Aiur/Whirlwind Zealots would be challenging but entertaining to watch. Probably would work best on Sgt Hammer's Mission or the one in Augustgrad where you kill the Towers.
Lowko, I suggest you try Raynor's SkyTerran of Banshee Viking. Banshee and Vikings get splash upgrades And they can get Medivac Boost upgrade.
They are Really maneuverable and very powerful as Vikings can kill Overlords and Obs while the Banshees can 1 shot turrets. Maybe get Horner for full Terran Calling of the Fleet.

I had trouble doing this as like 5-6 commanders then I went stukov and I've cleaned the whole map while doing main and bonus objectives. Infest structure is really nice since mobs explode and spawn broodlings which also explode.

@lowkotv if you want a good combo, or at least a funny one, try alarack with max overcharge building stuff and then mix it with dehaka. Dehakas buildings at the beginning with alaracks overcharge make a hilarious clearing force at the start.

Lowko, I think you killed more units than Karax simply because of the Flaming Betties. They absolutely wreck Zerglings, broodlings and whatever other small creatures that dare to dunk their heads in liquid nitrogen... or flaming whisky... Never know what fuel they use for the flame turrets. :D
White really didn't really pull his weight wich is surprising as protoss makes quick and solid static defense lines in the blink of an eye. Lowko had all the defense lines on lock.
Lowko, what about a Queen only strategy? That would be hilarious.

Also stuff like Swann and just Cyclones, Stukov mostly mech.
In fact, you could try reversing the mastery point allocation for each power set and trying to utilize the "polar advantage"
You should try using Fenix's disrupters in your army comp because no one seems to use it but it's actually really powerful

Fire turrets against broodlings will definitely net you some kills! Next time try to do a mass cloaked Dark Templar + Corsair (with permanent cloak upgrade) army as Vorazun. It's actually extremely good (Disruption web rocks!)

Hey Lowko, you should try Vorazun with mass Dark Archon. Mind Control your opponent and in SC2 they can attack too :D I'd definitely like to see you do that.

Please, Lowko, build the flaming betties at the front, they have a short range.
Also don't build anti armor turrets instead of the AoE ones when your enemy is just Zerlings and broodlings.
Everyone else is too busy being triggered by the lack of Vespene Drones while I'm too busy being triggered by how spaced out those turrets are... It's like he's never even placed two turrets down before.

Only ground attacker and only air attacker (Guardian + phoenix/corsair for example) PS: At 17:22 - 18:22 that research transport just kept getting yanked by that viper xD
