I’ve had my ps1 slim for probably 20 years. It sat and collected dust for a long time. It’s been great getting it into the game rotation again. Love this stuff!
@@MrMario2011 How can I load these files onto a Mem Card Pro? I am trying to do a BIOS dump via a BIOS Dump CD I have but, I need tony hax or a mod chip to play the dumper CD. Lol. I have everything I need I just can't figure out how to load the TonyHax Files onto the memcard pro from 8bitmods.
Just to clarify for everyone, you do NOT require an "original" memory card, 3rd party cards work just fine if you don't have an original or can't find one. Also, when copying the saves on PS2 from USB to your memory card you can just press "X" on the folder directory "../" and it will select all files at once. Additionally, be aware that it's not recommended to use "Paste" as it copies saves as files and you lose the timestamps which some games use as a security measure. So if the timestamps from the file system are different than the save data, it will refuse to load the save and display a message that the files are damaged. I don't know if it really matters with the exploit, but keep it in mind when copying saves.
I've been meaning to do this but never got around to it until this video and figured ok It's my day off so I'll do it. Thanks for the motivation. I tested on a PS1 and PS2 and it worked great
Thanks a ton for this tutorial! Took a bit to get everything running but it was a pretty smooth process. Now I'm able to use tonyhax in conjunction with the 240p test suite to help calibrate my setup; no mods or disc swapping required!
THANK YOU THANK YOU I CAN NOW PLAY PS1 GAMES ON MY ORIGINAL PS1 I LOST TWO GAMES SPYRO THE DRAGON AND CRASH BANDICOOT I'M GOING TO TEST THOSE OUT AND SEE IF THEY WORK
Another awesome tutorial. This is the most amazing accomplishment ever! That said, until I actually try it myself, do you have any idea if the drive will stay unlocked after choosing a GameShark load and then using the backup game? I have the original GameShark disk for Playstation with the green label. Much appreciated if you can test this.
I haven't tested it yet, but shockingly some people I've seen have said disc swapping works. In their case it was swapping the GTA games to play the London expansion.
@@MrMario2011 Very interesting. Wonder if this will work with a disk swapping game like no other... Legend of Dragoon. With that game, you need to swap from like disk 1 to 2 to 3 and back to 2 and so on. Been a long time to play that. Just might load it up again someday.
I wish this worked like the DVD video hack on ps2, having to run a game to run a game seems time consuming, and if I have to reset for some reason I'm doing it all over again.
I saw a video about this a while ago. I don’t have a ps1, ps2 backwards compatibility makes it a bit redundant. But I think the ultra tiny PS One is super neat and they don’t cost much so maybe I’ll get it to play around with
Thank God I have Crash Bandicoot Warped laying around; the very first video game I ever played in my life! Just ordered a pack of 100 blank CD-Rs. Now I'll finally be able to enjoy my old original scratched games again via backups on the PS1. Already have Free MCBoot on my PS2 Slim so I'm good to go! ^^
thanks for this tutorial. looking forward to play NTSC-J games on a US console. will you be creating a tutorial for the PS3 memory card adapter method?
Any ideas as to why Ulaunch elf can't detect a blank ps1 memory card? It recognizes it in the ps2 browser but not in ulaunch. Please and thankyou boss!
PSA for anyone attempting this on a fat PS2: while the program loads up fine (as long as you have a compatible PS2) there seems to be significant compatibility issues for (as of now) an unknown reason. If the game you're trying to load hangs on "SYSTEM.CNF" in the tonyhax boot screen and then fails to load, it isn't your disc or console but an issue with tonyhax on PS2s. Resident Evil (NTSC-U), Resident Evil 3 (PAL), Nightmare Creatures (NTSC-U), and Kurushi (PAL) are all known to be affected by this issue but there are likely many others. Just to reiterate, this is ONLY an issue on PS2 consoles, PS1 consoles can run the games just fine.
LOL, for sure, and definitely the most accessible for most people out there. I'm sure many won't have a DexDrive, or USB memory card adapter, or MemCard Pro on hand.
BTW, I watched the video several times, and I'm not 100% sure, so before asking someone or buy a memory with the hack copied already, is PS1 (Model SCPH-7501, NTSC U/C) compatible? Thanks for the video!
Can this software work on 3rd party ps1 memory cards ? There are some ps2 third party memory cards that can work with free mcboot theres even a software you can put on ps2 memory cards that will allow us to play DVD movies and tv shows from other countries if they are NTSC like ours
so im confused on the ps2 part... if i have a modded ps2 like yours (slim) i can just use that to do the hack no? all its required to do is transfer saves right?

Thank you!
So once you have it on the memory card you still need the Tony Hawk game?
yes
Can I swap the memory card once the burned/imported game is booted?
Yeah
Are those instructions also good for old fat ps2? (I have 30004)
i cant get it to work! cant find the file BESLES-02908TNHXG01
I was about to buy the Castrol superbikes PAL and another one because it was cheap but it seems both have issues now
They're not booting up for you? I haven't tested either of those.
i've done it too :)
Super easy!
BUT! i want one that can boot to ODE & save on the laser unit.
they're just too old now.
For sure! I've got a PSIO so I've held off on the other options, but the others are nicer.
A laser is like 20 bucks..
Place your original in a safe place, install the 20 buck one from China, and use the hell outta that laser.
What is attached to that PS One?
Oh, that's the screen attachment thing isn't it.
Can this be combined on the PS2 with free DVD boot and/or free McBoot?
It should be fine if you have ULaunchelf running v4.43a. That version detects PS1 memory cards and 2tb hard drives.
As long as you can get the saves over.
Do you need an Original Tony Hawk disk to do the tonyhax???
pls reply???
Yeah
So for ps2 does this only allow you to play ps1 titles?
Correct.
usb ps3 memory card adapter
Don't worry, if you have a 1000 model PS1 all you need is a tooth-pick.😉

free psx boot makes it completely obsolete xD

You should try to do a tutorial on how to add more games to the compatibility list. Or at least check if a game is a good candidate or not.

You put in Crash 2 and not THPS2 in the video. I hope people realize you mistakenly put that disc in since THPS2 footage happens afterward.
Stack them all on top of one another for super hax.

In my opinion, no. If you have a modchip you're good to go.

Might not be burning them slow enough, or using a media the PS1 likes, or your PS1 laser might be getting weak.
