While xi-on is still active and even released a new album during C101, Faai stopped doing rock/metal arrangements in 2013 and his last contribution to xi-on were some tracks on Electric Bamboo Beat during 2015. For this and future Faai videos I'm only going to consider everything from 1st Spell to 12th plus some extras (probably will do a best of xi-on post spells era later, though).
Faai is one of my favorite Touhou dudes and everything he did was absolutely majestic.
I have always thought his music is weird in a sense that it definitely feels like hard rock and metal but also doesn't really feel too heavy most of the time, he's super skilled (he covered Steve Vai and Liquid Tension Experiment) but a lot of his tracks don't even have solos, he can be super proggy but most of his discography is on 4/4. It's like he never felt the need to show off his skills.
What he does though, it's extremely beautiful.
His way of blending Touhou with guitars and keyboards is amazing and he's the reason why I use pianos on everything.
I bet you could easily show Faai music to someone who doesn't listen to rock or metal and they would like it; it's just super accesible and likable.
I love all he did in xi-on but specially I think he did the best Lunatic Princess and Broken Moon remixes I've heard.
I don't know what happened to Faai after EBB. I just hope, wherever he is, he's having a good time.
It's been 10 years since 12th Spell...
13th Spell 'till when?
Spoti version (I can't find OddTime Ensemble though)

Ah yes xi on, another circle aside from Demetori where I actually have almost all of its tracks on my phone
Faai (Fai? Phai?) is one of the goats in the toho guitar scene. Versatily, groove, timing, chops, man got it all. Sooo many good and unique tracks. Best Ultimate Truth arrangements everrr.
I would love to know if he got tired and wanted to try different things, or it was a circle thing. Ain't a big fan of their non-spell releases.
Groovy Moon is a banger tho.
Same. I want to know too. Maybe he just thought he did everything he could with guitars. Fusai, Spring Blossom and Banquet are fantastic, probably will do a video with my favorite tracks from those
I also love their broken moon and lunatic princess arrangements. If demetori isn't release lunatic princess last year, i'd probably agree with you. Thank you for the playlist
Even with Demetori's version I still think Faai did the better remix. Of course this is obviously just my opinion but Demetori's Lunatic Princess is not their strongest remix, I feel like is very similar to The Harm while Faai's being extremely emotional. Both are good though
i'd waited so long for their eiyashou songs, maybe that's why it affected me this much. But i understand what you mean. Both are a masterpiece
this is a genuine contender for demetori now as my favorite touhou band (?) ever
Actually if it wasn't for Demetori Faai would be number one for me haha
Came here from a Demetori mix. Gotta say, some tracks are so goddamn groovy I'm playing air guitar, the drums, all of it. Ultimate truth is one good example.
Good shit mang. Playing it in the background while playing hero shooters and I'm kicking ass.
it's always hard to find xi-on albums (at least not behind a paywall or anything) so i'm glad you're doing these
Never heard of these guys before, their stuff sounds amazing! 🤩
Whoah I thought they were famous among the Touhou rock circles
@@nvrmltice xi-on does sound familiar to me, but Faai is a complete blank for me.
@@LaykWr it's been a decade since Faai was the main arranger of xi-on so it's fair
8 minutes ago im quite early :)
yet another great playlist lol
This goes so hard holy shit
Ikr! Faai know his stuff
Truly Beautiful. Thank you for the mix!
i swear xi-on had a retribution of the eternal night with maiden's cap and love colored master spark in it
I think is Dream Battle + Master Spark
I was at C101 and essentially bought their complete collection (1-12 and the two extra albums).
Edit: I think I met Faai there, judging from his niconico videos
That's awesome! So is he still part of xi-on?
I'm not entirely sure, since I didnt think of asking at the time. The members there spoke some English, which helped with my poor Japanese. I will try asking, since I plan on going to comiket again.
@@bkawbtrs I had the chance to visit their booth too (Got the 10k yen rock compilation but didn't have the presence of mind to get the EX albums since I forgot they weren't best-of albums unfortunately) and managed to squeeze out an approximation (in mangled JP) of the question "Rude question, but why did you guys stop making rock music?" I forgot the nuances of their response, but I definitely caught the phrase "we wanted to try something new". Very respectable response (and my brain was reaching its limit from translating), so I dropped the question after.
I'm not sure if Φ participated in the creation of クリムゾン - I don't think there was any track that particularly stood out to me, whereas most of the spell series albums had at least one track that I found interesting - though I hope he was there. I haven't been following xi-on as thoroughly as I did back when the spell series was still active since I felt like quality tapered off a bit since 2013 (subjective opinion since I know some others that prefer their non-rock albums), but the whole group is back and I just didn't notice, it might be worth revisiting the albums that I missed.
Where would I go if I wanted to download or buy this guy's albums? Its amazing but its a crime I can't get the files for it.
Doujinstyle for free and dlsite if you wanna pay
i'm offended history of the moon isn't on here.
Don't worry, is just part 1
hey where did the time stamps for each song go? is youtube having a spazm again?
Kinda. They removed them from all my videos cause I got a strike for posting a danbooru link. How are chapters related to anything? I have no idea
They are back. I won
@@nvrmltice holy shit, pog
