Defender25 vs Avata

- Here we have the iflight Defender 25 go head to head with the Dji Avata. Flying in the same conditions this was a much more eventful morning than I expected. The results really show who each drone is best for.
When people come up to me, I NEVER take my goggles off. My main priority is my quad, and thats it.
agreed. I have had "park police" come up to me and they always understand when I say "hold on one sec. Let me bring the drone in safely so I don't crash into anyone" and they have always been fine waiting. In one case of the park police he was even very interested to watch me fly it back to us and land and wanted to know more about it. He was very cool but let me know I couldn't fly there again, even though it was 6am and the park was otherwise empty. Apparently they had previous issues with people flying camera drones in a crowded park so had to enforce the ban.
Interesting, I flew in my neighborhood park with lots of family and kids would point at my avata and follow me then families would come to me to ask about the drone and I even showed them how it works... It was a really good experience
Master Airscrew is in the process of developing propellers for the Avata …it may offer some performance benefits but only time will tell.
Awesome scenery shots. Just received mine. Cant wait to fly it tomorrow
You should have told him, "I also came to relax peacefully by flying my drone". Who does he think he is telling other people what they can't do legally in public space
I'm new to fpv & own an Avata. it is also good the I would be able to use the goggles 2 and fpv controller 2 with the Defender 25 seriously considering it as my next drone. Thanks for the videos.
Definitely a good choice as a second drone if you have the avata - it’ll also give you the opportunity to start learning to tune pids, filters etc in betaflight if you want to get more serious with FPV
Brave flight over water. Would def love a defender 25.
Great video and comparison. Just subscribed and look forward to your future reviews.
Thanks and great to have you on board!
Thanks! Really enjoyed this content - keep posting
Thank you so much for your support - my first superchat on this channel! Hope you enjoy my upcoming content
Nice man nice video. Keep up the good work. And thank ,s
Very useful information, I think as both are noisy screamers they will atract unwanted attetion at times the Defender would be my choice as it is not easy to find a place to fly where there are no Karens these days.
Yes it’s probably not as noisy as something like a 5” racing quad but on another level of noise compared to something like a DJI mini3
All the flight restrictions made me return my Avata within the 14 day return policy. I just wish someone could come out with better battery life!!!! DJI beats everyone hands down on battery life. Come on folks get on it, get us over 5 mins jeez at least 10minute!
Thanks for this. Loved the video.
As for the male Karen, Daytona Beach, Florida is known for Spring Break, Race Week (NASCAR), and Bike Week. I shit you not, we'd have people come and buy a home right off Main St. and during Bike Week complain about the noise. Seriously would want to shut down a half century of traditions simply "for their peace."
People who lived there for a while knew when these events would be coming. They'd stock up on supplies and bunker down for the duration because the traffic could be horrendous. Of course, many of us would partake in our activities of choice. I loved it.
Also, as a cop now I sometimes have calls because kids are playing too loud. No kidding. What do I do, let the complainant know that I'm not going to tell kids playing outside to be quiet. They are the ones that can get earplugs if it bothers them so bad.
Should have said I've come for a peaceful fly not be bothered by you. Now jog on.
Spot on!
Thank you for the great video. Does the Avata have Return to Home? Can the displays be changed to Imperial?
Thanks! Yes it has return to home and you can also change the displays to imperial 👍
Belas imagens 👍 😎 🇧🇷
great video, thanks! The iFlight ProTek 25 and 35 were amazing drones and the Defender 25 is the next progression in that series (with the O3 air unit, etc). I also have the Avata but cannot stand all the nanny features. Forced firmware updates, requesting authorization to fly (which often doesn't seem to work), and now having to connect your phone every time you fly in the US for remote ID. It's just ruined by all that but the
Just ordered a defender. Can’t wait. The protek 25 seemed a bit louder than other drones I have with similar size. Do you know if the defender is similarly as loud?
@@JamsouRy sorry but yes the defender is also very loud. Possibly the loudest quad I own.
If that guy wants a peaceful experience with no disturbance or people around, the toilet bowl is a better place. pretty peaceful.
always try to show empathy with karens, it will keep you both calm, we've all had bad days. more people need a hug, than a punch in the belly.
I don’t think he was in the mood for a hug 😂. I do agree though - respectful and civilised approach often goes a long way when you’re faced with a Karen
It's not just about having a bad day. Some people are just miserable and like to complain.
@@rkwjunior2298 that’s why more people should fly drones - you end up tinkering, repairing and editing so much that you don’t have the time to worry about what other people do 😂🤷🏻♂️
Avata is obviously better equipped with technical features and battery time. But for me, I justify myself that if I buy the defender, it will be a very good starting point for me and I will be able to fly anywhere I want (probably more indoor friendly than Avata as well). If I want to have a second quad later, I can get sth like Evoque that will fly better with open spaces etc (if I get Defender with Googles&radio and having a Gopro already wont set my wallet back too much with getting another drone afterwards). Do you think its good reasoning?
Regarding which is better for indoor flight- this depends on your skill level, if you are a complete newcomer, the avata is probably easier as it has more autonomy (even without gps lock it will hold position thanks to optical flow technology). The main reason I would go for the defender over the avata is if you frequently fly near uninvolved people. Other than that the avata is simply the better drone. On the other hand if you really don’t want to buy into a dji system and have your eyes on moving onto an Evoque, the defender might be a great choice too.
nice to meet you It will be divided into hobby and commercial use, and will be divided by price. I haven't seen the actual flight of the 25, so I can only speculate through reviews. Avatar is louder than you think. Avatar is considered to be the best hoop drone for non-commercial use. Everything is controlled by the controller, and you can control the camera angle, recording, etc. very easily. Both are not GoPro's high specs, but if that's possible, I'll choose the cheaper 25. For us, FPV is best suited only for Acro. However, I think I can tell that the durability is much stronger than the avatar. wonderful review. Thank you for those kind words.
It is AVATA my man not AVATAR ;)
Hi, is that cottage straight from the air unit? I assume you colour graded it? I have a defender 25 and love it. Be very interested in how you got footage this good.
Hey, the footage is indeed straight from the air unit onboard storage. I didn’t do any colour grading, normally I’d film in manual mode, fixed shutter speed, fixed white balance but keep iso on auto with an iso max of 400 or 800.
Also, good lighting conditions do obviously help
Ha cottage I did mean footage. Very funny
@@dronewilder5234 awesome. It looks so sweet.
@@goonbreathfpv thanks! Yeah I’m happy with the quality of the footage from the O3 air unit. There’s some more locations filmed with this in the following video:

get the avata, if u need dji care refresh 👏
Great comparison. What camera were you using? It seemed to track you.
Thanks - I used two camera tracking systems in this video - one is the DJI osmo 6 on tripod, and the other is called Dave (my spotter) 😂🤷🏻♂️
@@dronewilder5234 Is Dave being sold anywhere? 😜
@@SunriseWaterMedia I’ll have to see if he’s got a price list… wouldn’t surprise me 😂
@@dronewilder5234 Lmao
Remember, a "man-Karen" is a Kevin.
There is no "male name""equivalent...
Not even a Kyle which is a different archtype of person.... a man-karen is a man-karen much like a man-child
I thought they were Kens
Great video but poor audio: music much too loud for your soft voice so I couldn't hear half of what you were saying.
Thanks for the feedback Kay, I’ll address that in the next videos
uaaau onde fica isso? amazing place dude! where is it?
Thanks - it’s at a place called st Margrets in south east England. Some lovely chalk cliffs around there.
Hello, great, I don't speak English so I didn't understand very well, I enjoyed the images, I'll use a translator, I would like you to tell me if you have had problems with the latest firmware and when you are in manual mode with the Avata it suddenly changes to normal mode without press any button, because I do?,,,, Is it because I am in a geo zone? ,, you haven't had any problems with weird movements of the Avata, vibrations etc?,,, excuse me, the variety of questions,,,, Thank you!!! 👍👍👍
Hi, thanks for the comments. So far I have had no problems with the latest firmware but like you say, it could certainly be due to entering a geo zone that your drone enters normal mode as that’s the only way it can physically restrict your movement. This hasn’t happened to me yet though although here in the UK we don’t have to connect a mobile phone to the goggles in order to fly- this no cellular data link to update NFZ data.
In terms of weird movement, the Avata does fly a bit “slack” generally but you get used to it. It handles won’t conditions better than the defender due to the heavier weight and more power. In windy conditions you will also notice osscilations - especially on the yaw axis become noticeable as the optical image stabilisation can no longer deal with the fast movement. I’m generally very happy with the avata though.
@@dronewilder5234 hello, thanks for your answer, sorry, what is NFZ data, .... I live in Colombia and we do not have to connect the cell phone, yesterday I flew near a geo zone but I was not inside and yet the same thing happened to me to switch only to normal mode, I do not understand, when I started to fly at low altitude stopped happening, I will try in a place even further away, thanks!!!!
Hii @@dronewilder5234 thanks for this wonderful video, sorry about the ken though. Is that an insta 360 AI that is tracking your face?
@@Mithilesh44 Thanks, no the face tracking was done with the DJI Osmo mobile 6, either on tripod or hand held by my spotter.
Hey I own a avata and it’s almost impossible to fly near beaches with the wind. Did you encounter this?
Hi, it does get progressively harder with stronger winds but it really depends on how smooth you want to fly. Are you flying manual or sports mode?
@@dronewilder5234 I can do manual at slow speed. But it’s hard to manage with the strong winds. The image in the goggles is sideways and I can’t seem to counter steer the wind. So I switched to sports mode and landed. Thanks for the reply btw.
@@iAmSelectaSupa It’s quite tough with light drones like the avata. In manual mode you can allow the wind to drift you a bit so that avoids the lean you described. As you get more confident you just have to be quite assertive with your throttle control when cornering. Think of it a bit like a car in slippery conditions - you have to apply power in the direction you’re trying to fly (if that makes sense). Of course in 20mph winds and above all that won’t help much. I’ll try and post a video of me flying the avata in 25mph wind and 50mph gusts soon - I clocked 135kmh downwind 😂😂
@@dronewilder5234 all the beaches here in Trinidad is pretty windy. Would definitely need to practice a lot more before I try flying over the beach. Already subbed. Looking forward to seeing that video. Have a great night. Thanks you.
hi. mine defender out of the box seems to be a bit to sensitive on the sticks. what are your rates please.
Have a look at some videos by Joshua Bardwell on rate tuning- he’s a good source for betaflight info. Otherwise you could just start by increasing expo in small increments.
@@dronewilder5234 will do for sure and coudl you possibly share your rates so i have a starting point ? as I think that may be something way of on mine, thank you in andanve
@@chrisdera I believe I left them on factory rates. If you lost then you should be able to download all the settings from the iflight site- they normally have them availlable for download.
I'm a Real Acro FPV Freestyle pilot. GPS is for kids. 😎
The defender 25 doesn’t have GPS 😜
what country ?
Hi, This is in the UK, south east coast
@@dronewilder5234 I was going to guess Wales .. nice
@@qcbs2315 I wish- wales has some stunning parts
Humans and their toys 👍✨✨✨✨✨
Costa coffee!!!
👏👏👏video molto bello ma a parità di prezzo l'avata émolto meglio per me
Avata 💯👍
i hate people that own the beach.
Darren is a male Karen!
It's against the law to interrupt a pilot during a flight.
The Avata is the better all round drone.
Nice area to fly. Have a good day!
Yup you’re absolutely right about it being against the law to interrupt a pilot. I’ll get a better spotter next time!. The avata is a good backup drone to use if public surroundings need a sub250g drone but for sure, the Avata is the better primary drone.
lol you got scared, shuda told him to piss off, owell he won tho😂
Made some decent content so I’d argue I won 😜
A male version of a Karen is called Ken. For future reference that's my experience is they are called Ken. I don't know what's worse Karen's or Ken's.
Lol well on this occasion Ken came to talk to me about his ruined experience and his Karen friend just walked over and stood staring - they must have very boring lives!
@@dronewilder5234 Sound like they need a drone. I recommend the avata as it's lots of fun. And it will end their boring lives.
I actually like man-karen better tbh
@@clarkjamesdigital I hear some call them Ken.
You are breaking a law in any country. FPB requires a spotter. Where is yours?
Mine was right next to me thanks.
@@dronewilder5234 sorry, didn’t see the person. Didn’t mean to bust your balls on it. Not that I care, since you were flying in a non populated area. I have myself become more sensitive towards those who impose their freedom on my freedom… loud Harley’s making a racket here in the US, or people not restraining their loud mutts. Having been in aviation for 60+ years, aircraft are a natural to me but I understand that they are noisy and not everyone shares my programed life as they have different programing and many are not gear heads like us. I do wish the Avata is more quiet..it is kinda buzzy like a loud insect😆Cheers
@@renscience thats ok no offence taken - just didn’t want to come across like a bad example - that’s also why I put some guidelines at the end of the video 😊. I agree it would be great if the avata would be quieter. The defender 25 does seem to have a higher pitch and could be deemed even more attention seeking because of it
In the US, that dude woulda got shot. In the face
Haha yeah - I’ve been to Texas a few times and heard how things can roll 😜😂
People without drones are annoying🤣 ... there should be a law against Karens.
Y do people get mad at camera drones when they carry a cell phone?
