You can not do ANY performance modifications outside of a cold air intake and custom exhaust. There are NO upgrades or performance tunes for the 2018 Elantra SE. I have the same car and have been looking for almost 3 years. My only option is to do engine swaps.
When you said don’t expect expect audi level i had a chuckle cause they had the suspension designed by one of the engineers from BMW’s M devision and cosmetics designed by a designer from audi
It's good to see tuners and aftermarket support for Hyundais! I have a 13 Genesis coupe 3.8 rspec, that I put 141k on, and she's been great. I only have light mods(headers, intake, exhaust) . I picked up a new 23 Elantra N last year and it's a blast, but I still enjoy driving my rwd Genesis. Nice to see Hyundai getting some love. What size engine is in this Elantra? Is it the 1.6 or 2.0?
I'm curious to find out how long a stock block will last at that power. Every pull would be like playing Russian Roulette. "Am I buying another car today, lets find out." If I had enough money to not worry about that, I would definitely do it lol.
Woah man no need to get worked up, it’s not a bad thing to say. The interior is great for the price and I can’t think of many other cars that are better than the elantra in that price range. But it really is just that, nothing special. It gets the job done and is comfortable but it’s a mass production car, not meant to be special but that’s why it’s such a great car.
@@BenLovrien I am just saying since every car reviewer does the same. For a car one can buy for $19k, no other car offers such a nice interior. But comparing it to an Audi it raises an eyebrow immediately since the Audi or BMW can be no less than $10k more expensive. The only other car this can be compared to in performance is the Civic yet that is a ehh.. interior. Also, i am not worked up, I do like these conversations :)
I upgraded to a bigger turbo, TIAL wastegate, I have it straight piped from the catback, catless down pipe, intake and a power module. I was running a stage 2 tune with a ECU reflash pushing 411 hp at 26psi of boost, then I went back down to a stage 1 tune at 19 psi for reliability in the long run and practically reasons.
@@BenLovrien will the same mods work on a 2018 Elantra GT? My wife is literally driving home with one tonight we just got from a dealer (used, obviously... 36k miles... Great shape, not sport, so it's the 2.0L 161 Hp engine, 6 manual). And which ones break the warranty?
Very nice sounds coming from that Elantra GTS turbo. Better then what I’m been hearing from other Hyundai’s including the N and N line which in my opinion has a muddy exhaust note. When they do resonator deletes and don’t do it right. Starts with the exhaust header on down. Yep even with turbos makes a difference in sound and performance.
@@BenLovrien I can't even convince myself to get a tune :(. Warranty > speed. I am starting small though and purchased the shifter bushing set a few days ago! :P
@@VanillaWahlberg These cars are very reliable, parts are also cheapish if you break them... and generally, the warranty won't be voided if you modify your car - the dealer has to prove the modified part you installed caused a certain part to fail. Getting the ECU tuned, will void the warranty unless you have the ability to revert to tune to stock before bringing it into service. Chips like the AFE Scorcher and GAN GTL/GT won't void warranty since they don't leave any footprint in the ECU when removed, which returns the tune back to stock basically.
I know this since I own a 2019 Hyundai Elantra GT N - Line, I have an aftermarket BOV, GAN GT Chip, CAI, intercooler resonator delete and cat-back exhaust...the dealer didn't really care at all for the parts, they liked it lol. (Also helps I know pretty much everyone in the service department...) It all depends on your dealer, some like mods - some don't.
@@theflukey4114 Unfortunately, I only have one dealer around me and the service advisors seem pretty clueless. However, the actual tech seems decent. We'll see.
I know this is an old comment, but for anyone with this question, check out Elantra Sport Forums. Most will tell you the DCT clutches will be unreliable above 280-290 lb-ft/tq. There is an OEM clutch from a diesel application that has been found to work in the ES DCT that can increase torque capacity by about 15%.
Had to jump on this, good question. Unfortunately not, was put back to stock and sold. Best she ever did was 411hp, she was a beast😂 also yes it was on completely stock internals when it made that. Nothing but bolt-on’s and a turbo.
Hey man! I hope everything is going great with your projects. May I ask, why you got your Elantra back to stock? I’m an owner of a 2012 1.8 and I’m considering modifying it, turbo included. Wonder if it’ll be worth it. Will it go 0-100 km on less than 7 secs? Million dollars question. Thanks in advance
So that elantra was actually our shop car! We had to put it back to stock to sell it and move onto something new. Honestly I would recommend just buying an Elantra Sport if you really want a turbo elantra. Less work and its already turbocharged so power potential is much better!
I sooo what to get to this point! But i dont know where to start! :( I have the elantra sport 2018. So far i have a intake and im at only 25k miles looking at getting to this point. Any help my Hyundai elantra sport turbo lovers?
Well he said he didn't want to grenade it🤣, on stock internals and 28 PSI without doing the headstuds at least is out of this world madness. I wouldn't push it either.
I just picked up an 18 ES manual for a fun, cheap, reliable daily. Now I'm getting bad ideas.

can you put turbo kit for a 1.6 Elantra?
Would love to see some of that stuff on my 18 GTS. Wonder how dct would hold up
We had a big turbo DCT elantra too and max the clutches held 320whp more or less.
Hopefully the GL version of the Elantra can handle 28psi too with stock block. Just planning on installing a bolt on though.
Unfortunately hyundais with N/A aren’t strong in terms of boost they cant handle much more than 5psi even then the rods and bearings have a hard time

so forged internals will do the trick for boosting eh?
