I’m Glaswegian born and bred but my ancestors are from Pakistan. Every time my relatives in Pakistan ask about the Scots people, I tell them that most Scottish people are the true embodiment of the word ‘brave’. Here is an example of that.
I agree. brave Scottish heart. This is my experience with Scot’s people over the years. Palestinians face such aggression and hostility many times every single day though.

I'm Israeli citizen. It's really dad's they have too do this. Their are so many terror attacks and they were all Muslim. The Israeli people love most everyone but it's like a war zone over here right now. Just a terrible situation for everyone.
I live right near the Al Aqsa mosque. 10 minute walk. Muslim and Arab ppl are just like anyone else. With terror is just a really messed up situation right now esp. Israelis are good ppl too. It's the govts that are fighting. Salaam.
Israeli here, these questions sound standard to me, especially for unusual travellers. Even as an Israeli citizen, when I was living overseas I'd get questioned and even detained (especially when I mentioned staying with an Iranian family on one of my trips). The questions they ask everyone include why you're coming, how long you plan to stay, did someone give you something etc. If you have been to an "enemy" country or certain areas considered a potential security risk, you'll get more questions. Also probably if you present as Muslim (although not necessarily). I think the main reason they detained you for longer is because you didn't have a return flight and you'd recently been in several "suspicious" countries. In any case, there's nothing to fear and while it may be uncomfortable, if you're coming legally and don't have anything to hide, just be honest and patient and all will be fine. There's no reason for visitors with Pakistani heritage etc to fear.

When the Romans conquered Israel and expelled most of the Jews, they decided to change the name of Israel to Palestine to destroy any connection to Judaism and changed the name of Jerusalem for a time to Cathelina. @mars mars There is no such thing as a Palestinian people, Palestinian culture, or Palestinian language, or Palestinian history. There has never been a Palestinian state, nor any Palestinian state. Not a Palestinian archeological find nor a coin. Today's "Palestinians" are Arab people, with Arab culture, an Arabic language, and Arab history. They have their own Arab states from where they came to Israel about a century ago (Egypt, Lebanon, etc). This fact is revealed if you study the family names of about 80% of the "Palestinians" you will be able to see that they are actually not natives to the land - A huge families go by the name "El-Masry" (The Egyptians) and "El-Soraney" (From Tyre in Lebanon) others from Saudia-Arabia and so on. This is the historical truth.
Very similar experience. I am Palestinian and I went with a French friend and his sister. We got separated, to compare stories of course. After hours of questioning, one of the interrogators told my friend’s sister “ if you are with a possible terrorist, me, you’re a suspect yourself”. She filed a complain after returning to France, I am sure it was tossed in the trash.

I used to get questioned at the airport as an English woman. When I was asked where I'd been staying and I answered honestly - in an Arab village in an Arab household, that was it! Why hadn't my fiance come to the airport with me? He has! He's there! So he got questioned too. Luggage tipped out, stuffed back in. Taken away, told by female to strip down to my underwear, metal detector passed up and down my body. One time my calculator wasnt working - it was rubbish - told me to show them how it worked - it wouldn't! Taken away to look at it. To be fair I learnt after calculators could be used as detonator. I was eventually let go to get my flight. I didn't mind that much, I understood why they were doing it but some are better than others. Another time, totally different approach. I still remember him today.
Hey Callum , I’m not surprised by your experience.I understand your perception of a strange line of questioning , however, I know their security have experienced scenarios which would prompt them to be suspicious of your travels. Also I am interested in your demeanour while being questioned. That is what they focus on , where you so calm and collected at that time as any nervousness would alert them.I have a cousin who is a bit highly strung , they removed her from an El Al flight under suspicion and she is Jewish.
It's how the State of Israel works I think. They don't the people coming in and going out. Threatened from almost every direction, they gotta do everything possible to keep disruptive visitors out.
This is why I like watching Callum’s videos, he’s a genuine guy making videos of his travels. Just imagine if you had brown skin and a beard you still would have been there 😂😂 Keep up the good work
You're comment is pretty racist since most Israeli people do have brown skin and a beard.. Let me remind you that many Jews migrated from Morroco, Tunisia, Iraq, Syria and Egypt to Israel. There's an Israeli actor called Tsahi Halevi who was voted as "most handsome man" a few years back (and he's married to an Israeli Arab woman)
@@HackingWithPanda I’m sure he meant if the person was Muslim. And let me remind you that the mizahri and Sephardic Jews themselves are discriminated in their “own country”. don’t forget about the Ethiopian Jews that were sterilised by the Israeli state with forced injections.
@Mohammed Naseer The original comment was about looks. The following comments were about that racists comment. The majority of Israeli men look exactly like that. It’s the truth, not a “default attitude”.

Just imagine the oppression our muslim brothers and sisters are going through in 🇵🇸 plus plenty of people from the uk who are born and bred here and not travelled to any of the 'High risk countries' you have travelled to, when they go to palestine are questioned for hours on end. Most oppressive regime in the world
Thinks that an exaggeration . They let him in , didn’t stamp his passport so he can go to countries that don’t have relations with Israel , let him travel to West Bank and let him record throughout Israel . Try convincing me Israel is the most oppressive regime in a world which includes North Korea , Afghanistan , China , oppression of women and gays in many middle eastern countries
Could it be that “Palestine” is controlled by trrist groups that look for any opportunity to attack innocent civilians in Israel? Maybe that could be the reason for screening people at the borders, funny I dont see Christians, Buddhists, any other religion or cultures calling for the destruction of Israel and you wonder why Muslims get screened more thoroughly 😂 you ppl bring this on yourselves then cry victim everytime its pathetic.
@@shed101 Funny how Christians, Muslims, Jewish people living in Israel have the exact same rights as one another, Muslim Israelis can vote, own land, become doctors, lawyers, judges, politicians, openly practice there religions, you know what Jewish people can do in almost every Islamic run country? None of the above, non Muslim people arent even allowed by Law to set foot in many parts of Saudi Arabia so tell me again who the oppressive regime is again? Nice argument these people have 😂
If the Palestinian people didn't commit tones of terror attacks against Israeli civilians for more than 100 years, there wouldn't be a need for strict security in Israel's airports.
Hi Callum.thanks for sharing. Had the same experience with my sisters.we are Muslim. We went to Jordan in 2019 and wanted to do a day visit to Palestine to visit Al Aqsa Mosque. They took our passports and kept us waiting for about 5 hours! In the end we were questioned briefly and then were let in.we didn't have much time so we quickly visited Al Aqsa then returned to Jordan.

Hi Callum! I don't know from which country you belong but you are a very genuine person.i love the way you praise Muslims, my country and Pakistanis🥰 keep spreading love.may Allah always protect you from such evil people...
They're just doing their job, nothing evil about it. If they didn't then the real evil people would be doing a lot of rather avoidable disasters in Israel
Good vlog. I'm a Brit (Atheist) who lives in Malaysia. Sadly of course this goes both ways, when you try to enter certain Muslim countries with an Israeli stamp you will also get questioned. All we can do is continue to ignore the politics and religious extremist groups and enjoy the world and the (mostly) wonderful, friendly people in it.
This parallels my experience in Israel. By the way, I'm an American who's half scotch and Hungarian, and I've never been to a Moslem country. Please let us know (if you can) if misadventures magically befall you in the UK or elsewhere. This inludes landlords wanting $10,000 US every month for apartments where the toilets and sinks back up. This is after telling one the rent is $1050 per month. Of course the landlord will conveniently neglect to send one a contract.
If it's any consolation I have dual UK and Israeli citizenship, and I've also had some weird interactions with airport security when travelling alone. Hope it didn't destroy your visit. Incidentally my best friend in UK was Pakistani. Sadly died of cancer last year.
Trust me Paul it would pale in comparison to what I experience when travelling to Israel, my visits are normally 5 days and at least 12 hours are spent at the airport. same repetitive questions, worse on the way out especially when they have to take every individual item out to scan it and test it. then off to the body scanner, and after that no exit slip comes out the machine so I have to see numerous people who question me again at every stop, until I’m given my exit slip .
If you think that's bad, try going back to any of those countries with an Israeli stamp on your passport. The authorities in those countries won't be as nice.
One teacher used to say, that the only time he will visit our third holy site is liberating it. Anything less is humiliating. Imagine how they treat us Muslims when we visit
There are tones of Muslim tourists visiting Israel. a young man who visited countries that are not exactly tourist destinations but are hotbeds for Islamic terrorism, and did that even more than once, surely raises suspicion.
And where is your third Holy site? Because there is nothing Holy to Islam in Israel. The al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem was not named or built until 70 years after Quathem's death. There was no Muslims in Israel until Umar. And there was a garbage dump on the temple mount he cleared in order to build a small mosque. The real al Aqsa mosque that Muhammed had prayed at is in J'irrana, Saudi Arabia.
I can relate to that .. we were made to exit our vehicles before we even reached the terminal for our flights back home and were made to wait in a room … for hours, with cameras of course .. whole idea was to make us agitated so that we do something silly out of frustration ! My husband specifically told me to keep my face straight 😀 Oh and yes they went through our luggage without us being informed

Hi Callum, fellow Glaswegian here. I follow you on TicTok. I've been living in Tunisia for nearly 3 years. You weren't asked strange questions by the Israeli guards, it's VERY strange for you and anyone who wants to travel to these countries. Even though we are free to do so and our intentions are pure. But they don't see it that way. You have to just roll with it. Stay safe happy travels
" our intentions are pure" ! So if your intentions were to help the Palestinians or shed a light on thier suffering or showing solidarity with them then these intentions would not be pure? My intentions are pure ,I am here for sightseeing ,I will just overlook the ongoing persecution, who cares anyway ,all is good, don't worry. Human beings never fail to disappoint.
'Are you Muslim?' 'Do you intend becoming Muslim?' 'Why did you visit so many mosques?' 'Why do you visit the enemies of Israel?' Are these not STRANGE questions? It smacks of Racism, Paranoia.
Hi Callum, Israelis are very direct with the way they ask questions in general so it’s nothing out of the ordinary given all the countries you’ve been to. The truth is the main threats to Israel come from Muslim extremists, and sometimes they use westerners to try and evade suspicion. For example an Irish girl back in the day went to Syria and met an intelligence officer there who gave her a “gift” to take on a flight to Israel, which turned out to be a bomb. That’s why they wanted to know who you had met and if you were thinking of converting to Islam. Hope you had a great trip otherwise, cheers
there is a difference between being direct and arrogant behaviour of selfishness and suppority and put others down. In honesty isreal real enemies is itself .
Israel has good reason for security. Theres a procedure in place. If you fit a certain profile, they ask certain questions. You answer a certain way, there’s protocol on what to ask or do next. It’s unfortunate there are so many people out there who would love to do harm.
Hi my name is Idan and I am in Israel citizen I am very sorry for what they have done to you in the airport . The situation is very very complicated in terms of Homeland security .If you want we can talk and I will explain you What was the incentive of asking all these questions. Also from Glasgow, had same happen to me in Boston, usa - 4 hours asking about ethnicticity, had I been to x country, had family been. I started becoming cheeky in that Scottish way, told the officer Murphy isn’t a American surname what’s your family history. His boss had to step in and I was freed

As an Israeli I can tell you that you are just complaining!!! You speak from the eyes of a foreigner who suffers from zero security problems. Israel is surrounded by enemies and must be protected from them. I would like to present a certificate of excellence to the security personnel at the airport.
I hope you enjoy everything in Israel!! You have to understand the situation we are in Israel with all the enemies in the Middle East and especially in Afghanistan. Both Muslims and Christians live in Israel, so that's not the problem.
Israeli person here. While I might not agree with my countries leadership and such, at the end of the day we are bordered by 'enemies' at all sides, so we must make sure that nobody with malicious intentions enters the country. I do think they are a bit harsh regarding such topics, as at the end of the day people just wanna see the world and tour many places, regardless if those places are enemies with one-another. I'm Israeli, and I really wanna visit Egypt to see the great pyramids and the ancient ruins there, but because of where I live, I cannot go there, which I think is very unfair. Governments and security should judge people not by the places they went to or by their place of origin, but by their intentions and motives for visiting.

I'm a British Jew and have been through Israeli security many times. I've got to say that I've often noticed how certain types of people are targeted for more questions than others. People travelling alone definitely stands out, having stamps (and videos) from Muslim countries will also make them nervous (because they don't know who you might have met in these countries that may wish harm on Israelis/Jews), and to me the biggest one of all (which no-one seems to have mentioned yet in your comments) is that you didnt have a return ticket. I think security in any country, not just Israel, would look at that and be rather concerned, as that doesn't fit the bill of a regular traveller. Sorry to hear you had to go through this unpleasant experience - let me try to explain why you were hit with the questions you received: Israel has a long line of enemies who are openly calling for its destruction and are going to great lengths to do so. Because of this danger, Israel has become incredibly good at sniffing out people that are a potential danger. As a young man traveling alone without a return ticket, no apparent contact person in the country and a history of visiting basically every enemy country (of Israel) you are a prime target for questioning. Israeli border and airport security follows a differenct concept than that of most, if not all, other countries. When looking for the danger, we're not searching for the weapon, we're looking for the terrorist. During the questioning, they are looking for any discrepancy in your story. For any sign that you might not be telling the truth or that you might have a different motive than traveling. You would be surprised by the number of Europeans and Americans that come to Israel to travel to the West Bank to "help" the Palestinians, but in reality just want to take part in riots agains the Israeli military and then go back home and feel like they are freedom fighters and did something to further the Palestinian cause. I'm happy to hear that you were let in at the end and had a great time. Israel is an incredible country with some of the warmest and nicest people in the world (also some of the worst, like anywhere) and a week is definitely enough to see even a fraction of it. We are multicultural, multireligious, multiethnic country with its fairs share of problems, but when you manage to see past what you hear in the news it is an incredible place and there are plenty of places where Jews and Arabs coexist as neighbors and friends. Hope you can come back sometime soon and explore more

@@rachelsamuel3328 well literally speaking they are indeed, many are held in detention centres with no fresh air in airports however that may not be wholly relevant to Israel airports. Personally speaking even from close friends I have heard many a story of bad treatment. If there was a scenario or opportunity for it to happen in Israel then absolutely it most probably would. How would one even be able to tell about it?
like your videos pal, but I really don't know why you found all the questions strange. You've travelled around various Islamic countries who have a historic hatred for the Jewish state of Israel, then you go and travel to Israel. Totally understandable from their perspective to be a tad weary, It shows their intelligence services are doing their job. Enjoying watching your travels through some of the most historic lands in the middle east, some of those mosques are stunning and hold centuries upon centuries of history. Really shows there is a lot of fear mongering against Islamic countries when in reality overall they are lovely people and their hospitality to visitors is first class. Good luck on your future travels from a fellow jock. Im off to Nepal and Turkey next year, cant wait 🙂🤜
I agree with security and agree with people being stopped and questioned to make sure they ain’t a threat but here’s something that I did find STRANGE .. Here’s something that stood out for me “ Callum, I find it strange that you visit mosques but you aren’t a Muslim “ Well I’ll be visiting synagogues while I’m here but it doesn’t make me Jewish…. I totally get why they ask me about my recent travel destinations but I clearly told him that I like mosques, I don’t speak Arabic, I’m not a Muslim and he yet again told me that he “found it strange that I visit mosques if I’m not Muslim” Cmon.. that’s not strange… if Muslim visitors to Scotland were going around visiting some local churches… would you find that strange? I certainly wouldn’t… Anyways I had a blast! Met some amazing people and have no ill feelings at all 😀 Just a man simply documenting his travel experiences 🤜🏻🤛🏻
This is standard procedure in the Ben Gurion airport, the interrogators and the border security were doing their job. It happens everyday. They've seen the stamps on your passport and the countries you've been in, so they had to check you, whether you're a spy, terrorist, or anything like that. If you're not any of these things and you're telling the truth, there's nothing to be afraid of. There's plenty of Muslims crossing the border every day, too. This procedure is done on past experiences and mistakes. So, nothing dangerous about it, they're just being cautious at the border, as they should be.
.hey man sorry to hear you were detained in the airport, but did you said that you didn't book a return flight yet? That's a reason for problems in lots of countries. Do you know that you can't enter Japan for an example without a ticket to a return flight ? Any how enjoy your stay and God bless.

@@CallumAbroad hey callum I saw the video I am Israeli I wanted to say why the agents were suspicious and interrogated you, basically when you visit countries that are enemy’s with Israel etc. you might go into a interrogation with agents etc. Israel takes security very seriously because you don’t know if your terrorist or not israel is basically banned from the countries that you were visiting or planned on visiting like Syria Lebanon and iraq etc. but anyways pakistan and Israeli relations are horrible there basically enemy’s with Pakistan and once Pakistan threat israel by dropping nukes on major cities, so basically israel bans Muslim enter for some countries like Libya Syria Lebanon iraq Yemen, Pakistan iran etc. also the same for israel these countries also are banned from entering Israel, and more safe travels.

Beautifully said
But do they give a stamp on your passport?
Israel hasn't stamped passports in decades
Stop lying you deceiver.

Israel has good reason for security. Theres a procedure in place. If you fit a certain profile, they ask certain questions. You answer a certain way, there’s protocol on what to ask or do next. It’s unfortunate there are so many people out there who would love to do harm.

Mate thanks for sharing ! I was thinking of traveling through Tel aviv to Jerusalem, but your experience now make me doubt !
Many enemies of israel completely deny people who were in israel to enter their countries, Israel had many terrorist attacks so it brings sense they interogatted them if he was in many hostile countries
As an Israeli I can tell you that you are just complaining!!! You speak from the eyes of a foreigner who suffers from zero security problems. Israel is surrounded by enemies and must be protected from them. I would like to present a certificate of excellence to the security personnel at the airport.
How is this called complaining, you just don't want your country to look bad lol
They are just paranoid, asking so many questions... interrogating you. But you answered all questions brilliantly. Not everyone is a terrorist
Well done mate. It’s tight doing these countries. But keep up the great work!
Cheers mate! Very much appreciated as always! It doesn’t go unnoticed ✌🏻
I’ve just read all of that and I must say… I completely agree! Thanks for taking time to watch the video and leave this comment ✌🏻
"unfair" See how Palestinians live in the West Bank. Now, that's unfair.
Thank God our security services are doing their job, thankyou for sharing!
This is very reassuring!

@@CallumAbroad I have travelled to Israel without problems and most people who do, get a general profiling to make sure people are not entering the country with some hostile intent that can cause genuine security problems. Many Muslims will have no problems entering the country and usually those who openly enter as Muslims will be allowed through if they have an address like a hotel or invitation to be there eg. on business or seeing friends and relatives.I know an Iraqi born friend who was Christian with his Iranian born wife who went to visit. They had questions , but were with an organised group and had no problems after being questioned . Thanks for this vlog, Callum, I'll send it to my Muslim friends so they are forewarned if they wish to visit Israel. I think it will put them off though.
I visited Israel about 8 years ago and upon arrival at Tel Aviv airport I was just asked if I knew anyone there, which places I was visiting and why. My sticker that they gave me started with number 1. The only Muslim country that I'd previously visited was UAE.

I am sorry for your experience, be mindful that your biggest mistake is not having a return ticket. Some countries will make you prove that you have one, or they will send you back where you came from without questions.
This is what I was waiting for. You'll notice they'll have a completely different tone in the comments section but the reality is that they don't allow people free, who can potentially expose their true nature so instead they interrogate anyone and everyone coming in and out, and its 1000x worse for Palestinians. Journalists get similar treatment so it's still very limited and restrictive for anyone who wants to show transparency. Every youtuber I've come across so far has had a similar experience but the only time you'll feel completely humiliated and degraded was if you were a Muslim. Have a look at what happened to Jay Palfrey 😳 👀

But since you're informed I would rewrite my comment - If the Palestinians weren't busy committing heinous terror attacks against Israeli civilians and Jews before 1948 for more than 100 years, I assure you the security scrutiny in Ben Gurion airport would have been very different. If you think that the Arabs in the holy land started murdering Jews only after there was Israel and these Jews were called Israelis then you're dead wrong.
@@abcxyz8787 obviously youre wrong, if you dont understand how long a countries existed then youve fell at the first hurdle and lost all credibility sorry. Respect fr u u r really brave . Thanks to being a honest showing the reality of every county
That many people who enter israel try murdering israelis..?
You seem to have taken your experience calmly and maturely so well done to you
Traveling alone shouldn't be a red flag, but it is for some reason
Damn, they know how to pick the right people from the crowd. Solid security protocol.
You go to all their enemies countries... what did you expect?
Mate stop being an idiot
I expected to be questioned. I didn’t expect them to say it’s weird that I visit mosques as a non Muslim… is it weird that I went to the great synagogue as a non Jew?🤔
Anyways.. loved my time in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Ramallah, Bethlehem 😀 met some wonderful people and great food ✌🏻 Have a good one
Thanks for your honest sharing, a bit depressing to hear their attitude but unfortunately not surprising 😕
It's the situation throughout the middle east, Israeli border control doesn't stamp passports anymore, they give you a voucher you need to throw away once you leave Israel.
They started doing that after several foregin people were not allowed to go into Egypt/Syria because they had Israeli stamps in their passports
Thanks for posting this bro. You got my sub.
Salam calum I can see that the seed of Islam has been implanted in your heart, I have no doubt you will embrace ISLAM the truest and most beautiful religion
So sorry you had to go through this. Love your content bro👌. Hope your relationship with Islam and Muslims strengthens further👍
If it helps I lived there for a year, volunteered in a school and local community and had been several times since. I got a new passport and visited countries that I otherwise couldn't. I was detained for several hours at the southern border. Every time for several visits afterwards I was detained at the airport
I was lucky enough with my new passport to visit Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Dubai. Meet some truly wonderful people and places prior to numerous civil wars which has badly affected some of those places

Also a Palestinian friend of mine told me that the the islrealis would stop people from entering masjid al-aqsa unless you recited something holy to Muslims to deter non-Muslims from visiting and trying to show that non-muslims are not welcome which is untrue and something similar is happening here
Sorry to hear you had to go through this unpleasant experience - let me try to explain why you were hit with the questions you received:
Israel has a long line of enemies who are openly calling for its destruction and are going to great lengths to do so.
Hope you can come back sometime soon and explore more
you are out off your mind

like your videos pal, but I really don't know why you found all the questions strange.
Here’s something that stood out for me
“ Callum, I find it strange that you visit mosques but you aren’t a Muslim “
Well I’ll be visiting synagogues while I’m here but it doesn’t make me Jewish….
I totally get why they ask me about my recent travel destinations but I clearly told him that I like mosques, I don’t speak Arabic, I’m not a Muslim and he yet again told me that he “found it strange that I visit mosques if I’m not Muslim”
Cmon.. that’s not strange… if Muslim visitors to Scotland were going around visiting some local churches… would you find that strange? I certainly wouldn’t…
Anyways I had a blast! Met some amazing people and have no ill feelings at all 😀
Just a man simply documenting his travel experiences 🤜🏻🤛🏻
@@CallumAbroad because most people who visit such places are religious. the average person isnt interested in such places just because
Separation only bring fear. People should not be afraid of each other.
Very Sad but iv heard this before and yes alot harder to get in if your muslim
They did the right thing. Israel has security problems with terrorists. They can do and ask what they want to be safe.
