    Normally I speed my videos up to 2.0, but tonight I’m grateful that I can slow it down to .75 to take in the reo at a beginner pace I’m in and actually be able to be present with it. Love this! Thank you

    Great episode! I also resonate with the uncool to be Māori phase. But yourselves and many have really helped the resurgence and it’s been awesome to observe and now join that haerenga.

    My born language is Maori from Arorangi in Rarotonga. Your falas closest to us is Taranaki mita. Our closest to your reo is from the north, Penryn. Same same.

19:34 Kī mai koe ehara te Kupu “empire” no tēnei whenua. Heoi, mehemea I pērā ai tō whakāro māmā noa iho te whakamahi I te kupu “kā” mō te “car”? I te mea e hara te kupu “car” no tēnei whenua.

      He pai ou whakaaro. Ki au nei he orite te "car" ki te "waka". A means of transport. No reira he mea tenei no tenei whenua.

      Ae ka tika te whakaaro if there is a concept in te aohurihuri like “empire” / emepaea then me hāngai ōu mahi whakamāori ki ngā momo Kupu pōriro. Pēra i te motokā mā te motor car nēhā because our tūpuna never had moto cars … and while a waka has been considered associated with motor cars and aeroplanes etc in Faith to the whakaaro here it’s fine to employ transliterations.
      The world rapidly changes and for te reo to stay agile and resilient and adaptive and relevant we should allow ourselves the opportunity to transliterate our Kupu hou.
      For example
      iPad = īpapa
      Ka whakahauhau au i āku tamariki ki te hanga kupu pōriro i ngā wā katoa mā ō rātou aokikokiko.
