Never like carrying off duty but did anyway. Never had to engage off duty perhaps because I was carrying. Guess I'll never know. Still carry all the time and hope to never need it as much as when on duty. Be careful out there.
Good Points Sgt. However, if you live in the great white north (Canada) the national police force is not authorized to carry off duty. Even when specifically asked by the members to carry in the new age of cops becoming terror targets, the head of Canada's national police force said no. "Stop or I'll say sorry again". Works in every boardroom of the nation when uttered by perfect policemen in no crime areas.
Always amazed and shocked me how damn near no one I worked with would carry off duty. Me I'd been carrying gun almost always since my teens and didn't see reason to stop. Went to a training class on Military base once and was advised leave weapon to avoid turning it into M.P. at gate for stay on base. We get there and M.P. asks for our weapons. My partner says he was advised easier to leave it back home and when he asks I tell him the same. We goto class, go out for steaks & couple beers (literally no one got drunk so please save the sanctimonious bitching for more appropriate time please)that evening, then return to sleeping quarters on base. I gotta say that I was shocked at the shock my partner displayed when took off my holster and .45 and put in night stand drawer. He had actually believed that I left my gun back home. I told him damn I thought we knew each other better than that! Never needed it off duty (used it on duty however) since being in L.E. but used a shotgun to change direction action and intentions of dude who.had a handgun or was bluffing that he did when I was 15 still can't imagine relaxing anywhere, anytime, unarmed.
As good intended as this female instructor may be, there is a color of title divisions in her wording for Law Personnel. why doesn't she refer her instruction to "ALL LAW ENFORCEMNT OFFICERS" both active & retired? That would blanket ex. Border Patrol, Correction, DEA, FBI, Police .....& so on
Why should they need to identify themselves when they aren't in costume, and or retired? We are all earthlings,, not one of us should have any more validation because of a label!
Absolutely wonderfully said.

Does This Go For Corrections Officers Too? Or Just Police? They Didn’t Really Specify In The Video. Cause Corrections Should Be Allowed Too.
Most CO's are permitted to carry on the way to the jail so I imagine on a totally free day it is allowed.
Example: NYC COs are Peace Officers with powers of arrest mandated by S-155A State Criminal Statue -. Learn the Law!
Yes, it applies to correctional police officers, in New Jersey correctional police officers carry a firearm at all times.

I didn't hear you mention "retired" Law Enforcement Officers. Why?
Play it again Sam.
We all have the right to carry guns legally in this country every where we not just cops
