It has an outside clutch, so if you get pinched while dogged in and have to take the bar off then you’ll have to break the chain. Usually with your axe. 390’s have the newer style inside clutch design. So it doesn’t have that problem, which makes it one reason the saw of choice for professional tree fellers.
Great video. Great job on getting those trees on the ground. You definitely have to be on the same page and trust the man working the boom when you’re that close and in a tight spot like that. Thanks for the video 👍
You are a awesome tree cutter my friend. I didnt know what you were doing after you cut your notch out until you set the camera up close to you. Never seen it done that way. but it dang sure works well. I would love to see a challenge between you and whoever cutting trees with the 395. Shes a hoss. Keep uop the great work my friend and the great videos.
Do you leave more hinge wood when you have a machine pushing the tree over? I would be afraid if the operator pushed two hard he could break the hinge.
I miss falling trees, though I never done any cuttin in your kind of heat. Worked mostly on small mountain sides and cut firewood when work was slow. Ya'll keep the heat. lol Stay safe, Tim and keep smilin! All best from Catt County, NY.
Great job Tim, I am a paramedic in Georgia and have to ask, Why no eye protection?, You guys are so safety minded and seem to have very few injuries and I have seen what wood chips and even metal shavings off the chains can do to a persons eyes. Again you make great videos that are very educational, Keep up the great work.
I can’t with the amount of sweat pouring off me and even with a screen, I can’t stand it getting into the wire mesh. I knew someone and I’m sure more will mention that as the video is viewed.
Believe me I am not finding fault as I sweat like that too and it is very annoying notbeing able to concentrate on the task at hand. You do a great job, I was just curious as I have seen all the other safety concerns you guys are on top of all the time. Keep up the great work.
Ones vision has to be quite crisp when doing such risky work. Like you said some these guys never where them. That says it right there, since you never see some these guys where eye protection it must not in reality be that important. The saw dust is going behind and in front of him, no where near his eyes.
Can anyone explain to me wy does he cut twice on left side if he have the machine to help him cut on one side them cut the other do not waist wood,,am i right
Hi Tim.👋 I’m a new subscriber and l like very much the videos you put up for all of us to enjoy and more importantly to learn from on all points. I am buying a new 395XP very soon. (I have one on order) I can’t wait to get it, as l have so many large trees to process. (Mainly “Blowdowns”) from a recent “mini-tornado” that come through my area. Lost quite a few cattle & sheep too.🙁 All the best mate, Brian, from “Down-Under”...Australia.🇦🇺🦘😊👍👍
Great vids. Miss cut n . started cutting for a local timber co in 1979 a senior in High school. Fun to watch you but nothing like the smell of 2 stroke and wood chips. :)
Great job Tim I can tell youlove cutting them big ole pines trees Do those big pines get dead inside they sure are some biging. Glad your brother there for back up for you Been watching this on my TV instead of my cell love your videos
Another enjoyable video. At least you only had saw chips in your drawers. When I was wrenching on cars for a living I had hot slag from the cutting torch in my drawers more than once! I don't care who you are or where you are them drawers are coming off! I know what you mean about having people to work with that know what you are doing and just what to do without having to tell them what your next move is. I worked with a guy that was like that.
@@cotontop3 that’s half the fun doing it yourself. I’m looking at what saw I should get. I have a bunch of BIG cedar to mill. I think it would be too much for my 562.
Great video, Tim. From watching this and some of your others, I bought a 395 and love it. I'm sure it's been mentioned before, but what brand of chaps are those you're wearing? I'd like to get a set that fits a little looser than the ones I have now. Thanks!
Like a surgeon with a scalpel! Yeah, that is hard work, especially with a big saw. Always dripping with sweat and heart racing after taking down a tree, even in the middle of the winter.. You have a Great Team!!!
as someone that works around Cutdown machines, I know the equipment operators that I can trust and the one I can't. The ones I can't trust I give a wide berth too.
great video Tim some nice sawing with the 395xp but i'm like you i hate a new chain most of the time i'll sharpen them before i use it be safe and have a blessed day !
*Hello Mr. Larry, Hope your'e doing well* Nice job Tim, I'm very glad your'e healthy especially the job you all do, and seeing you all in sync makes it awesome to watch, man they were big pine for sure, Have a great day Tim, and clean your pant's out (too funny)..
Thanks, I was just checking that saw as a replacement for my MS460 Stihl. The 395 is only two pounds heavier than my 371XP. The 460 is well balanced with a 36” bar mounted and has a lot of torque. It is a LOT heavier than the 371. The Stihl can be a real POS to start in hot weather, whereas the 371 is always ready to go. If it is cold, no problem, but sometimes you need to work in the heat. Nice to see a well used 395 (with a bad chain also) in action in hot weather. I think I have the information I needed. Best thing to do with those pine trees is run them over with a bush hog when they are young.
I like your videos and i like you, you seem like a pretty good dude. Btw I hate saw dust lol. I've done tree work since i was a kid. Nothin worse than working with your shirt off, sweaty as hell with sawdust stuck everywhere and then putting a shirt back on to go in the station. When it's real hot I'll work in shorts and tennis shoes, that time of year I'm putting my clean socks on with sawdust jabbin my ankles because it doesn't all come out. This time of year when i take my hoodie off in the house a bunch of sawdust falls out of the pocket onto the floor because i forget every time to shake it out outside lol. You ever have to climb any trees to knock the top out before dropping the tree? Stay safe

I use this saw with a three foot bar on it quite often for my job as an Arborist. The 395xp is an awesome saw

Yep it's an awesome saw all right.
I've actually got a 385xp, and am pleased with that. But a 395 is a real powerhouse.

There is nothing like the sound of a big tree going down!
Great video Tim some nice loblolly pine good teamwork with processor pushing for direction be safe

I've taken down a good number of hardwood trees that were much larger but 10:11 and 25:45 are still a thing of beauty. This guy is possessed.

Great teamwork !!!
Are you bore cutting them from both sides and having them meet up because your bar isn't long enough?
Thats a real man no joke.
That saw is a beast. Great video
Yes sir. You do what you have to do
Is a Humboldt cut a preference or for a specific situation ?
Nice straight trees, those pines. Those spinning blades are a distraction when you are on a chainsaw. Difficult work.
I wish you could still find good stands off old yeller pines like that

Awsome teamwork Tim. Now that's one way to handle large trees. I felt the ground shake over here in Alabama when those loblollys hit the ground. 👍👍👌
Wow imagine what that thing will do with a fresh sharpened blade , one heck of a job Tim!👍
Robert Bradford, no blades on chainsaws. They are called chainsaws not bladesaws lol. Take care.
Circular saws have blades.
592 or 395 for milling in your opinion?
The 592. Milling with a chainsaw is brutal for the one pushing it. I'd find someone with a mill and gladly pay them to saw some boards for me lol
