And just by the way, you are the best (in my opinion) of all the drummers I have seen on youtube. Hey! I really appreciate the kind words. It all depends on the track, but for the most part I just know the song progression and then I just jam along/improv my way through. This song was probably 85% improv while some other videos may be closer to 50% or less if I'm playing a lot of the original drum part. With pop songs like this I get to have the most fun creating my own parts. I like to leave it all live and just see what stuff I can come up with on the fly!

+pudelplays From personal experience, as you improve youy learn how to play more and more rudiments, grooves ect, even time signatures. And as a result you 'libary' of grooves ect grows, then upon improvising you have more to draw from! It all has to do with confidence at playing a wide range of styles as well, you see +COOP3RDRUMM3R using a lot of doubles on the toms, hi-hats ect, varying kick placements ect. And ofc he has a great deal of skill not just knowledge :D
My 6 year old son just got interested in drums and you are one he watches and jams out with his drum sticks and buckets! Thanks for being a top knotch performer!!! Now time to save up for drumset and lessons

I was attempting too awhile ago; however, I do not have the proper microphones to go around the drum system and they can get pretty expensive. I want to have the sound right and I want to be able to go back and listen and watch what I am doing to fix mistakes as I think it always sounds perfect while I am playing. Any suggestions?
