  • Built in the 1940's, this hotel catered to couples who wanted a retreat into the mountains and into nature to get away. With Heart Shaped Tubs and Giant Jacuzzis this resort was all about comfort. Built with three different hotel room styles we will explore the entire resort and what it has to offer , from Egyptian themed, to ones that are stuck in the 1980's with its not renovated floor plans. Walking around here was very enjoyable as resorts / hotels are one of my favorite places to visit. If you enjoyed the video, it would mean alot to leave a thumbs up! and perhaps subscribe for more exploring content! Have a goo day!

My wife and I stayed at this resort in July 2007, in a room that was almost identical to the first room (though it was on the other side of the lake). It was a spur of the moment getaway where we only had one night free from our very young kids. Unlike its sister resorts, this one didn't force you to book a multi-night stay to get the Champaign room, and since it was a mid-week visit, the rates were a bit more friendly as well. The kitsch was part of its charm, and we were disappointed when it closed just one year later.

We went there for our honeymoon in 1997. I wanted to go because it was so tacky. My wife and I love kitsch although we stayed in one of the villas, not the champagne towers. We went in January to go Skiing and it was record cold that weekend. They canceled the snowmobiling and other outdoor activities because it was dangerously cold. they had an indoor skating rink ( I think that was the building near the end of the video)The food was decent and they kept us entertained. We had a great time. Sad to see it slowly rotting away.

David W Ryan. It was a lot of fun. And they did have a lot of things for Us to do. I'm might check into seeing which ones are still opened. Depending on what is happening around the World. I watched a few videos, one shows you how to look for spying bugs. You would be shocked where they can hide them. Even in smoke detectors and so many other places. The other video gives you suggestions to bring from home. Like a small bottle of bleach in a spray.bottle. make sure you clean the toilet and then the bath tub. Don't put anything on the bed cover. That's when the dark blue light will really show you stuff you don't want to see. Bring your Own Blankets and pillows and pillow cases. Bring wipes, make sure you wipe the telephone down. In case you have to call Service / Office. Wipe down the t.v. remote. Bring your Own towels and either bring flip flops or slippers. Although right now with this Covid stuff going on, they have to really clean the rooms. Still don't want to take a chance. Thanks for sharing the info. By the way the two videos that I just told you about. They were shown about 15 years ago. Since then it didn't matter where We went I still did what the two videos stated to. That includes at Disney, which We won't go there ever again. When We use to go to the Casino as well as other places We traveled to. Stay Safe Guys. God Bless.

I remember seeing signs and stuff for this when I was younger (back in the 90s). It was still kept somewhat nice then, but it was starting to get run down. It's a shame that they couldn't find ways to update it to more "modern" times. I understand that sometimes you can't, but with theme hotels becoming a thing again, it's a shame it couldn't hold on longer.

It was closed in 2008 and that was right about the Recession and the housing collapse. A lot of hotels and properties closed down or sold out to other property management companies that used the land for something else (or nothing else). Considering the timeframe the Recession was likely the reason why it closed down for good but many other commenters in the area of the resort say that it was starting to get on its last legs before then.

In my worldview, a heart-shaped jacuzzi with champagne-glass jacuzzi, a sauna and round bed (I had one in the early/mid 80’s and it was really cool to sleep in! Finding bedding for it was difficult back then) do not mesh well with an Egyptian motif. Somehow I can’t imagine there were many pyramids, Egyptians or camels in the area.
The toilet room in a home with indoor facilities when it was new was named the “water closet” and they had a chain pull to flush.
I’d opt for the one furthest away from the children’s area, whichever room that would be.
I have to say I’m surprised you didn’t run across any deer. I’m certain they’ve taken the grounds over and it’s probably overrun with them when no one’s around. Cool explore, gentlemen!

This particular resort is/was in the Poconos still operating into the early 00's. Those 'champagne glass' whirlpool tubs were it's signature attraction. Always surprising to me how such investments are left to rot. I'm curious as to know why this resort did not sell-off most of the hotel assets when they were viable items to be reused elsewhere. The two-seater, compartment shower stall was over $3k at the time and by my guess the champagne glass whirlpools with attachments would have exceeded $15k back in the day. It's odd there is still 'paid' security on-site. A place which may still have life in the 2020's. Just a wee bit of financial love to do it.

Hey guys do you wanna hear something really funny?… That first Egyptian room you were in all the way down the end well my husband and I was not my husband at the time stayed in that exact same room in 19 92 and it was absolutely gorgeous. Nobody needed a kitchen when you stayed in that room LOL and that thing the big heart shaped thing is a swimming pool not a hot tub. And the champagne glass you wouldn’t believe how it would bubble over one turned on after using bubble bath and then you would have to get lots of towels to clean it up LOL we had a blast. It was so much fun they were shows at night we were able to do bow and arrow and this is true I had never shot one of my life and I kept getting Bullseye after Bullseye. We went skeet shooting somewhere around there and my husband kept hitting all the skates and he’s never done that before we had a really good time it was really awesome see you in that room again thank you.
There’s more to the story that I completely forgot to add. You know how the room was nothing but mirrors everywhere you walked well my husband fiancé at the time was walking around with a video camera now we’re talking to the old video cameras all of a sudden he saw some men staring at them naked… Well that man staring at him was himself because of all the mirrors LOL it was so funny.

The advertisement at the end was really cool, showing what it looked like when it was in use. I Googled (easy to find when you use certain keyword features from the property) and the pictures of it back in the day when it was still an active resort are very neat, too. Oh, and there are some UA-cam videos of people cavorting in the champagne glass jacuzzi tubs. :)

There's a very similar resort to this that's down the road that is still operating. I just stayed there with my husband in November and it honestly doesn't look much different from these rooms at all, except they were much cleaner obviously. But the tubs/pools/beds are still very of that era. I could have sworn we drove past another similar resort that looked abandoned, but we took a different way home and didn't get a second look, I bet this was it!

It's crazy this particular resort is abandoned but the company as a whole is still in operation! You'd think they'd be defunct or something but when I checked them out, you can still book with them and such. Amazing find man!

Both styles are architecturally interesting, if a bit bizarre on the Egyptian side. I think the hole in the wall once contained a safe for people’s valuables. As always you have done a great job of showing it. The “Presidential “ suite was a bit of overkill to my thinking. I liked the Murphy Bed in the family cottages. The time for this style of resort has had it’s day, and isn’t likely to return since there are so many alternatives now...and newlyweds tend to honeymoon abroad. At varying points in my life I could have enjoyed staying in any of the styles, but these days I go Air B&B. Stay safe and keep enjoying what you do.🖤🇨🇦

This kind of reminds me of the place my wife and I stayed at for our honeymoon. But ours was Western themed. It had a lot of unique stuff also. I don't much care for the Egyptian theme, but still enjoyed you exploring this place nevertheless. Personally, I'm with you. I liked the last room that you explored the best. Very open floor plan and could of been a very nice getaway from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. I enjoyed the old advertisement you showed at the end. It really added some perspective to the video.

I remember these commercials back in the 70ies as a kid. I wanted to go in that champagne glass jacuzzi so badly😆 this resort was in the Poconos! My parents went there for their honeymoon in the early 60ies...their room did not look like this though..They had a sunken walk down tub and that was as sexy as it got😆
