Food Fighters were never released here in Brazil. But as a kid I got a General Burgerdier while traveling to Florida in 1990. I still have him in my collection, in great condition.
That's awesome!
Instablaster
Food Fighters was one of my favourite toy lines as we kid. Not sure what happened to them over the years, but been slowly buying them back now. Awesome line!!
Oh Dan! Remember the slogan? Hills is Where the Toys Are! My grandfather bought me ALL the food fighters line. He just recently passed. This video, oddly, just brought up so many memories for me. I can sincerely say....thanks, bro!
My ideas for new members to both sides
Kitchen commandos:
Colonel Kernels (bucket of popcorn)
Corporal Cup (cupcake)
Refrigerator rejects:
Sizzle Strip (strip of bacon)
Choco-Loco (candy bar)
I just realised there is a custom Pixel Dan Funko Pop in the background. Cool!
Yup! More on that soon! ;-)
I want one.
Me to
Josh seems very nice and congrats on your toy haul! I felt the magic and warmth of how this line really sparks the imagination of both you. Sadly most Toy Collectors loose their ability to get into the world of their toys, as they used to when we were kids, just like Toodles has lost his marbles in Hook. Thank you for this playful video!
Joe is playing with his food again mom! (Quote from the commercial!)
Haha!
allsome
Funny ha ha
Wow to find those in their original backing is so amazing that guy hunted that stuff down . It is so simple but allows kids to have that imagination. My mom was that way too when I wanted those. Wish I had that stuff still so I can pass down to my son
Food Fighters and Visionairies were my 2 favorite toy lines. I had 2 of the jigsaw puzzle as a kid. I might still have 1 in storage. Never knew of the coloring book, that looks awesome.
1 thing I haven't seen here on UA-cam and have thought about all these years - I don't know if it was a commercial ad or an actual animated short like Looney Tunes. But I absolutely recall all of the characters fully animated in an all out war shooting at each other like crazy, a siren goes off, they all stop and look at the screen, LUNCH is screamed, then you see all of them sitting at park tables eating lunch (good guys and bad guys mingling too maybe), another horn, then they go back to war. I need to see that again - that always stuck with me.
I'm from the Midwest and we had Hills here. "Hill's is where the toys are!" can't tell you how many boob jokes we used to make out of that slogan! And I totally have that coloring book somewhere!
Thanks for the in-depth vid! I collected these casually as a kid, mostly because our local Hills store went out of business and had these on clearance at an INCREDIBLE $1 a piece. It was the greatest deal of my life at the time, and even my mom was nice enough to make sure I tried to pick up one of each that I needed for my collection. Tbh I wasn't really crazy for their designs, but for that price, wow! I know for sure I had the hamburger and the hot dog, they were my faves.
I'm from Chillicothe, OH. Hills was my fav place to shop toys. We don't have a Hills here in Tampa FL. I still remember all the he-man figures on pegs. and also an TMNT arcade that I spent lot of time on while mom shopped. Great memories..
Thanks for bringing back memories!
Pure awesomeness! My parents didn't have a lot of money but I had so many of these and even the bbq vehicle. They must've been cheap lol! Loved them so much! Thank you!
They likely clearanced quickly since they didn't last long, too.
The Border Geek k
They were 3.99 per each figure
These were my favorite childhood toys.
Old video, but I had these. The egg cartoon vehicle I had in my collection until like 1998 lol. Their helmets always came off though and the dog chew toy quality always made me laugh.
Food Fighters!!!!! Damn i remember and loved these toys....i remember the hamburger guy!!!! Awesome to see this!!
So that is where those weird backpacks/weapons I come across in my GI Joe collection come from (or at least I think so). I know it is Mattel, but the accessories sure resemble Joe stuff. Very awesome toys and collection!
And those are the pieces always missing! You should definitely hang on to them when you come across them. Likely some folks looking for them! :-)
Is there any site that would help to identify the accessories?
This was a really fun toy review...I totally loved this!!!
This video was fantastic!
Pre-internet toy hunting is just a different thing. We take for granted that we can reference and cross reference nearly every toyline, but there are a few that remain nearly obscure.
I knew there was a colouring book but never knew about Halloween costumes.
That's great Dan! Awesome collection acquisition!
Thanks Kev!
never heard of of those growing up, but seeing them now i think they're pretty cool. i like taco terror and private pizza.
Holy Crap! I also have a complete Food Fighters collection... except they're all out of their packaging... and stuffed away in my mother's attic. :-(
even if they are out of package, they are still awesome
Oh wow... I forgot all about these. I had Sargent Scoop. I also vaguely recall a corn on the cob. Maybe that was another toy line though.
I believe food Fighters would make a great Pixar movie. Like Toy story but with food.
I love Short Stack. Thanks for the great review.
This is how Dave Growl came up with his band name The Foo Fighters!
I loved these as a kid! We had a lot of the characters. We had the chocolate major munch here in Canada when I had him
Great review Pixel Dan. Wow, what an amazing & fun line. I had very limited knowledge of this line, so this was very cool to watch. Keep up the great content!
These were awesome toys, I think I had all the main figures except for scoops, I don't think i ever saw him in store. Surprised these weren't a hit.
I'm in the UK and I had the variant Cone guy when I was a kid, but I picked him up second-hand and never knew what he was until your video where you first talked about them.
Dude, I had/have a few of these. What a blast from my past.
Sweet!!
HNNNNNGGGGG FOOD FIGHTERS! I had all of them as a kid.
Great video and great collection! We're still missing the helicopter. There were amazing ads for this toyline on the Topolino magazine, showing the figures fighting, with ketchup for blood.
Awesome!!
liprandi I remember commercials during Peewee Herman episodes.
Derek Jones I don't remember seeing tv commercials for Food Fighters here in Italy, but there's an awesome one in stop motion here on UA-cam. It's in French if I remember correctly.
Found! It's on the ToyGuruMan channel!
It aired here in Canada. Mixed animation and live action shots if I remember correctly. The Burger (my favourite) had a really high voice if I recall.
very cool pick ups dan. I know you ll take care of them. pitty mattels not going to release another food fighters toy line .
I know i'm late to this video but I love this video. I have the enitre collection but I do not have them on card. The vehicles I have in box but the uncarded figures. This collection is beautiful.
I loved Food Fighters!!
My first one was the pancake guy, then came the rest. I remeber walking into the super D as a kid and seeing them on a rack, thinking of how awesome they looked. Thanks for bringing back some good memories
I just grabbed the Mattel catalog on ebay last week. Been collecting food fighters over the last 4 months since I had them when I was a kid. Got a mint condition FF lunch box in my stash as well! I have all the carded rare variations except for the macadamia cookie one, just have three of those loose. Alot of fun trying to find these toys.
Wow! I rember that refrigerator playset pic, it was printed on the back of the Mickey Mouse comic book series when I was young! Damn I wanted it! Loved this bizarre line when I was young! Can't wait to see your whole haul, hope the Combat Carton is included! Thanks for the blast from the past Dan!
Loved these figures! I had the Taco and my brother had the donut.
Awesome!!
Those are so cool
I bet some Mattel worker has that playset somewhere! it needs to be found!
I hope that's the case! I need to track it down!
Groovy!
Wow I had all these guy's, loved them I just never got any of the playsets or vehicles I had the chocolate version of chip the ripper thanks Dan great memories 👍
I’m from Akron, Ohio... that’s “up North”. We had Hills. After Gold Circle closed they all became Hills.
hey everybody its the infamous floor burger. I am dissapointed that the Hoff wasn't hid in the background somewhere lol
That moment when your history teacher from 7th grade is in a Pixel Dan vid.
Haha! WOW! :-)
My 7th grade history teacher was an elderly white woman...
Who?
I want to get some of these cool review Dan huge fan keep up the good work
Thanks!!
That's pretty awesome. I hope that you may get the time to talk about boglins. I just recently found out about those.
Boglins are great! I only have 1, but love it. I do have several of the mini figures and did a video opening up some of the blind bags. :-)
Food Fighters love bro!
Love these figs! I only have short stack tho lol...Every time I seem to hunt them down carded or loose they are a little pricey. Im hoping to find them in the future for a better price. You are one lucky guy to get them carded!! Great video!
Just throwing this out there but have you thought about doing what Pat and the Game Chasers do, going to flea markets and yard sales? It might add a bit of thrill to the videos if you find vintage toys at someplace other than a vintage toy store or a vintage toy con.
@Pixel Dan "Hill's is where the toys are!"
I loved this series as a kid. Soft plastic doesn't store well though. ;(
This is a line that came out just after I got out of toys (temporarily lol) but it's one I want to pick up some day. Not the entire line, but a couple from each team to give my collection a little... flavor.
Is that Mr. Flood?!
It is! :-)
nice to meet Floorburger :)
love it
we had hills down here in Virginia and I remember going to our local hills and seeing about 5 Gi Joe USS Flaggs lined up on clearance for 50.00 a piece.
I used to love this toyline. Wish I could get some again but the prices are up there. I also liked another obscure toyline I think from a year before. Barnyard Comandos.
The BBQ bomber is like when an invading army would catapult plague corpses over the castle walls to spread disease among the inhabitants.
I heard about this toy line thanks to Robot Chicken!
Almost December!
Almost! :-)
Never knew about this toy line when I was a kid but seeing it now I really wish i had.
I really want that coloring book
the food fighters was the first vedio of that new toy smell
Yep! One of my earliest reviews. That video was the birth of that show. I actually had that video done before TNTS was conceptualized. I held it to use for the first episode. There's your fun fact of the day!
So nice to talk to you I think the first time I watched you was when you did a review on the nicklooden tmnt and suine Hallock botleg tmnt action figures I've been wondering how to do a toy review with nothing besides a tablet for a camera cause the one toy reviews that I've been whanting to do that there is no single reviews on UA-cam is the 90s playmates star trek toy line that I got a few figures I've been doing a few weird vedoes at school with my friends the one friend that help me start youtube that has his on UA-cam channel his name is mrbobfan1 I just wanted to make playlist of music then one weekend started to make my on music video with lyrics the first vedio I did was from a movie in the 80s called shocker the song was sword and stone all did was put my tablet up to my radio and let my tape play if you listen to the beginning you can here me putting a cassette in I did another song by a band you should now YOU WANTED THE BEST YOU GOT THE BEST THE HOTES BAND IN THE WORLD KISS I think what I trying to say is how would you start a toy review channel
*****
I have the taco terror and I plan on getting the other's 1 down 9 to go!
Floorburger!!!!!
What No Hoff cameo?
Food Fighters would have been interesting to see as a cartoon in the '80s. I know it would have been really "cheesy".
Do you think you'll open the vehicles?
Ooooh..i member food fighters! Member Star Wars?
LOL
that refigerator is somewhere!
I hope Mattel will re-release these awesome figures someday like how they & other toy company's keep re-releasing old toy lines like HE-MAN, Ninja Turtles, Transformers & more The Food Fighters need a comeback!
You have Killer Instinct music playing in the background ;)
Yup! Check out On Being Human (link in my description.) They rock!
I cant remember I had these small toys that had many different cool characters on wheels.. I think they came in A Four pack.
They were called expand... Savage Mondo Blitzers by Kenner I'm guessing.
did barnyard or food come first? great obscure military lines. what was the other vehicle that wasn't shown?
Please 2020, do one thing right and bring back the Food Fighters 😭
Do I hear battle toads music playing in the video? :)
Yup, done by the talented On Being Human! Check them out!
I ended up buying the whole set, including the vehicles, on sale for next to nothing at Venture with my birthday money. I wish I would of known how valuable they would become I would of bought another set a put them up. I still have the cards from them, with the clearence stickers, paid 99cents for them.
But now i'm so sad he had to sell his collection, he clearly still love them very much!
I got all the characters for my birthday
Are you gonna review the loyal subjects he man figures?
I had the burger and my friend had the taco, chicken and pizza guys. We didn't care about good guys or bad guys because they all fought our Army Ants who would try and eat them.
Combat carton is missing
can you scan the book so we can color it?
What was the song in the background?
Lots of various songs, actually. All done by the awesome band On Being Human. :-) Multiple video game covers in this video.
yea, I was digging all of the background music here. I'll check out On Being Human. Thank you!
Food daners😝

These toys are so quirky and stupid I want them.
We need a Food Fighters/Sausage Party crossover.
Actually, make that a 3 way crossover with Veggie Tales!
You now grossery gang action fig grubsub nick name is meat head
