I cheated with my spindles , I brought them ready primed . Also I prefer to paint the final coat with everything installed that way I can use decorators chalk . We all have our own preferences 👍. Your stairs do look awesome by the way.

Thanks for the feedback 👍. I had to paint these ones off the stairs as they fit next to a wall as they enter the loft so no choice unfortunately. Thanks for watching.

I've got wood in the house that I've treated with knotting solution, and it has stayed perfect. I've got other wood that wasn't treated and you can see the knot showing through....some only appearing after a few years! I've done a video on how to use it here....

Is that a slinky you have destroyed to hang the spindles?
Used to love playing with those things when I was a kid

Yes, the kids favourite toy! No, just joking, it was a coil of garden wire.

Well done, thanks for sharing! I use a stain blocking primer when painting previously stained oak trim. It's pretty thick stuff. I've never noticed any, but I think it would cover knots.

I really like your videos ☺️. Am a subscriber......in this case you went straight to undercoat without primer?
I thought you could miss out undercoat but never primer.
I know there are primer and undercoat combined, but I don't think this was one of them?
    Looks great by the way

Jesus christ i hate painting the stair rails. Ive managed to put it off for 4 years this time. 🤣
Going for 1 more year then i will have to give in and do it! I will be a grumpy man that day! 🤣🤣

Everything you do is grand just touch the knots with knotting .

Pouse I’ve tried both methods with and without knotting solution.. I usually find with out a few come through
Agree with above Zinnsser bin primer and you can avoid the need to knot but cost a fortune

Probably money we'll spent if it works though. Thanks for the feedback as I seemed to get the same results as you. Thanks for watching 👍
