I agree, Chris & Jordan (Petapixel) and Gordon Laing were the only few creators who do provide fair and honest opinion on cameras and lenses in their reviews. Nice purchase Matti! Can't wait to see your new videos shot on the A6700. People often misunderstood our intentions, but for most parts we buy gear that we need to actually use! We don't just buy something for the sake of buying something. The A67000 seems to fit your needs really well.

I bought one too - it's a noticeable step up from my A6400. The focus is magnificent. I don't mind the smaller EVF and the screen is now just fine with the touch settings. I was doubting whether to get it - even thinking of the Fuji, but this blows it out of the water. I shoot wildlife and I need things to be in focus every time, and so far this nails it where the Fuji wasn't always so accurate.

I gave my ZV-1 away because I do videos in 4k over hours at a time. Now I have the ZV-1M2 and love it. 18-50mm focal length is excellent. Great in the studio and Car Vlogging. I bought a crossbody pack and a dummy battery which has helped me tremendously. I have Nikon, Sony, and Canon cameras and want to downsize until I put some fantastic glass for the interchangeable APSC and Full Frame and decided I still need this. Either I am becoming a Hoarder or a Collector. I just have to remember that someones treasures is another person's junk. I went to my local camera store without intending to buy it. But when I checked the display unit it felt so good in the hand and couldn’t resist. Walked away with a brand spanking new A6700 with 18-135 mm G lens. This camera is so satisfying! Also my first Sony that has the new menu system. Can’t wait to shoot landscape photos with it soon! Hey Matti great choice. This is in my opinion the best APSC camera. I have read a lot of comment on internet saying it is not that that great as Fuji APSC cameras. People say Fuji X-T4 is the best, but personally I think it is very bulky and expensive for a APSC camera. Yeah it could be better than any Sony APSC but that’s because Sony reserve some features to full frame camera therefore you get more for what you pay.

Very good Sony improvements but too expensive in Europe for a mediocre display and Evf and same shutter speed as old models , so i switched from a Zv-e10 to Canon R7 and got cashback Canon summer sales. A6700 shines more on video features over still photography and there must have some considerations about recording long periods because overheat limitations.

If I was going to carry around a Sony as heavy as the a6700 I would carry the a7c unless you need 4K60. Sony made very special lens for the a7c; the . 24mm f/2.8, the Sony 40mm f/2.5, the FE 50mm f/2.5 G and the Sony 28-60mm f/4-5.6. All have double linear auto-focusing motors and are all very small/tiny, fast focusing and tack sharp lenses.
FYI, the 28-60mm when new was a $500 lens so it is a quality zoom but not that fast but covers all the street photography focal lengths.

I had the Canon R50, R7 and R6 and traded up to the R6 II which i loved. The R50 was too small for my hands but I loved the features and the compactness of it. R7 I did not use much because I haven't had any interest in wildlife shooting. I am more video centric. R6 just overheated too fast for my taste. The R6 II had more savings for video and pics, (C1-C3) Three settings for each which gives me a total of six. If it can do the job and you use it there is no problem I see in buying the A6700. Congratulations! Cheers!

Canon’s are sharper. My R50 with 18-150 mm lens produces sharper photos because of the powerful DigicX processor, compared to the A6700 with 18-135 mm. Of course I’m talking JPG straight out of camera. For Raw, both are sharp.

Hello Matti, I have a question. During your experience of using this camera for video work, do you have a serious issue of overheating? I guess you make many videos in 4k60. Ok, I know that you have a temperature conrolled environment, but I've heard many complaints about crazy overheating of this camera. Is it true? And if it's right, have you thought about fx30 instead of the a6700?

This is thing I've learned.. You can have lower fidelity photos and videos with versatile small sensor cameras, sensor sizes between 1/2.3" .. 1". They got fast, noisy sensors with high pixel count.
Larger sensor APS-C and fullrame are video centric, or photo centric. Video centric cameras has more speed instead of resolution. That is the cost of getting highest fidelity is that, you need cameras both for video and photo. You can't have both in same camera body.
M4/3 is kind of interesting format but cameras are easily photo centric, or there are like video centric like Panasonic that fails on autofocus. I watch this format closely what is coming. Most likely issue in M4/3 is not the format or lenses, it is that Sony is so far ahead now.
Olympus perhaps has the highest fidelity camera suitable for vlogging in M4/3 but it may be problematic as it is known to be photo centric camera, I didn't see OM-Log profile support in software so it may be issue on grading, and also usability in videoshooting is a bit question.

I wanted a lightweight set-up to use on long walks, on business trips and when out with the family and have just got the A6700 with 70-350 G lens. I am really enjoying using, it serves exactly the purpose I intended, and although the image quality is never going to have the wow factor of my main set up, the AF is great and it does well producing sharp good images - and the main thing is it weights only 1kg (against 4kg) so I can take with me virtually everywhere, so am always prepared if I see something I want to photograph.

Vlogging type shots in ZV-1 works in my opinion, shooting in 1080p without active stablization, using small and cheap gimbal. I got Zhiyun Crane M2. All sharpening need to put minimum as it cause visible artifacts to video. 24mm lens with a bit more distance using gimbal and in camera optical stabilization gives excellent results.
4k is something for more carefully planned footage, like shooting short movie, more room for editing purposes or some beautiful cinematic shots with stable camera. It drains ZV-1 battery fast and heats the camera so it is not suitable for long shots that are common in vlogging. Think 4k that is something where shots are mostly less than 30 seconds.
When producing video to UA-cam, resolution doesn't matter that much. UA-cam compress video so heavily that all 1080p content need to be uploaded at 2160p. In vlog type videos there is easily more movement in image that affects compression that it should not make much of difference if video shot 1080p and upscaled to 2160p or shot 2160p. In fact 4k content may benefit in UA-cam if it is softened.
Sony A6700 has heavy rolling shutter effect in 4k footage so you need to shoot almost all content on 1080p. And if camera is not in stable tripod, it causes nausea in 4k after couple of seconds so 4k doesn't work on vlogging type shooting on that camera.

    • @mattisulanto
      @mattisulanto Рік тому +1

I'm happy you have found a workaround for you vlogging with the ZV-1. However, it does not solve anything if I want 4K and don't want a gimbal😀 I'm still happy it works for you though.

4k for vlogging is hard. Put that in perspective, you rarely see a movie in theater higher than 2k :P
What I've watched from UA-cam, 4k vlogging are mostly done with bright sunny day with highend camera phone or action camera, and those fails when it gets dark.
I believe there are some 1" 4k vlogging camera with 16mm lens and active stablilization but I expect that it dumbed down somehow and have tradeoffs.
I bought ZV-1 as versatile, multipurpose tool. It is just my swiss army knife with that gimbal. But I don't vlog, just tested that it can be done with bulkier gimbal and HD and got that way professional result.

It is excellent when shooting 1080p, but at 2160p it is just at the threshold where it causes annoyance. And A7iv is photo centric camera so I don't even consider that.
What I'm talking is A7s III or FX3 is the video centric camera where you can get uncropped, good 4k without annoying rolling shutter. With price and size. Sony ZV-E1 has same sensor so it should be capable of doing that too but camera body is so small and full frame lenses are big so I'm not sure is it practical, other question mark is battery life.
Rolling shutter has been large sensor CMOS camera issue all the time. You need small sensor made for video, or large sensor where you shoot lower resolution.
I think Panasonic GH5s was the first consumer budget, larger than 1" sensor camera (M4/3) that was able to shoot 4k properly. A7s III was full frame after that. Common thing to those is that they got megapixels somewhere 10-12 range. High megapixel APS-C sensors would not shoot 4k properly.

My vote for best APS-C would be the R7. Bigger and better EVF properly placed in the middle, not off on the side which is just a terrible design unless it's a rangefinder camera. R7 has a much better rear screen, better IBIS, 1/8000s mechanical shutter is a huge win, faster electronic shutter, way faster continuous shooting, better battery life and two card slots which is also a big win. It is a very big advantage that Sony have the same E-mount for both their APSC Cameras and for their Full Frame Cameras, there are now at least 257 new Full Frame E-mount Lenses and 136 new APSC E-mount Lenses, so if you fx use a APSC Sony Camera there are 393 new E-mount Lenses to "play" with, you can also use the APSC Lenses in APSC mode on the Full Frame Sony Cameras. I do 99.99% of all my still photography with manual focusing, so a joy-stick is a must have for me.

Because of price. A stacked sensor costs more, around $500, compared Fuji X-H2 and X-H2s. If you want a hi-res viewfinder (5.8m dots), then the camera body will be larger. So, it will cost a minimum of $2k.
I think Sony is not interested in APSC, only in FF. Maybe after 4 years, we will see APSC from Sony with a 40mp or stacked sensor.

@@infantfrontender6131 No, Camera body do not need to be larger, the screen can be smaller ! Many was waiting for a high end Sony APSC Camera, the A6700 is not a high end Camera. So many was prepared to pay more ! Fujifilm cameras are priced too high, I also think that it would be less than $2000 for a Sony high spec APSC Camera.

Again, congratulations on your new purchase.
Who is going to argue you are a Sony shill? The only reason to purchase gear is you need it. Maybe you want to upgrade your body because you want it. That falls more in the camp of GAS. A camera is merely a tool for a creative. That sounds like you.
No camera is perfect. If the camera does what you need it to do then of course buy it. Of course you don’t need my permission to purchase the gear you need for your business. You are happy with your purchase? The camera meets your needs? You can afford it? Enjoy your new camera.
I am not going to tell you what gear to buy. That is your decision. Only you know if this new camera will make sense for you. Nobody can, or should, tell you what gear you should use. That is a personal decision only you can make. You review gear as part of your channel. You should know what the gear from each manufacturer can do. Especially since you are a one man production you have special needs. I’m sorry your previous Sony body and glass didn’t work out for your particular needs.
I watch your YT product. I want you to have the gear that makes the production of your YT product as easy as possible. Thank you form caring that your video production looks seamless and consistent. There are a lot of choices for you. Quite frankly, I don’t care what gear you choose to you. I use Fuji and M43 gear. I like when you say nice things about the gear I’ve purchased. Don’t like the gear I own? C’est la vie. We have different needs. What works for me may not work for you.
If some of your viewers disagree with your purchase that is alright. Most people are entitled to your opinions. If some viewers think you have gone to the dark side that is alright too. They can vote with their feet and no longer view your videos. If they think you don’t have integrity maybe they should watch other YT producers. That attitude suggests they don’t respect your opinion. I do.
In one aspect this is a revealing video. Someone as experienced as yourself made a mistake in your gear selection. That hurts when I make that assessment for myself. Enjoy your new gear. I hope this new setup will make your productivity easier for you. You didn’t mention this in this video so I hope the purchase of this new gear makes your shooting experience more fun. Please let us know if the Sony A6700 is all, or mostly all, that you need and want. After all we, or I, watch you because of the content you provide not the gear you chose to create it with.
Again, congratulations on you new purchase. I hope this Sony will make your life easier and more fun. I hope you don’t have the need to upgrade your gear anytime soon. That could be expensive.

You can shoot Sony if you want to, I mean, they're excellent cameras .. who argues that? :P I wonder what you sold off, if it's older stuff you've never shown on camera, or you decided to part with MFT or Fuji after thinking about it ...
Personally I view Sony as maybe not the camera that people enjoy using the most, but a very good tool that just about always gets the job done well. Many beautiful youtube videos being made by Sony cameras, though perhaps less, I suspect, by the ZV1. Why a6700 vs ZV-E10?

Thanks. The ZV-E10 is a great value, but it has no IBIS which is the major deal breaker for me.

Aren't we all. The dark side can have many names like Canon, Fuji, Nikon, Panasonic, Olympus/OMDS, Sony...😀

Nothing better than Canon R7 or the Fuji latest models. Just OK camera, which is kind of 'meh' these days. Yea ok second camera for Sony users... but why downgrade from the A7 models?

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I'm very happy for you that you have found the perfect cameras (Canon R7 and the latest Fujis) for your photography or video. However, I'd like to ask why would you downgrade from FF Canon or Fuji GFX?
