Hey LmL, if you're into tea recommendations, I am hard-core into Palais de The (in the US only ships from the East Coast) *Amazing* mint tea, amazing black teas, amazing _everything_ . For a more local, perhaps more affordable option, try American House Coffee and Tea - they have good and diverse stuff, but some are a miss. So I buy an ounce or two to try different flavors. Also really love their spices! Keep that throat well taken care of 🙏🫖✨
I have to wonder how bad of a guy the Bloodstone Emperor really was. The tales about him sure are fantastical, but so are the tales told in Westeros and elsewhere about Daenerys and her reign in Meereen. And we see that those tales have a nucleus of truth in them, but have been twisted to make her sound evil (in small you see this with the stories told to Oberyn about baby Tyrion). Could this be the same with the Bloodstone Emperor? Given that Daenerys will kick a popular Faegon off the throne and probably destroy a good bit of King's Landing doing it (inadvertently by wildfire or otherwise), and that likely the Long Night will fall shortly after, I could see tales forming about her in future Westeros that are not so positive. And she could do the transformation of Bloodstone Emperor to Azor Ahai after that as well. Just pondering 🤔
oh for sure Marc, we always have to ask that question. I *think* the big twist is that AA is actually a bad guy, and that the BSE myth is intended to reveal the true nature of the "hero" AA, but it's of course hard to say for sure and we may never know. They are archetypes for the current characters to fit into more than anything - Euron is "acting" like the BSE of legend, while Dany might get perceived that way even though she's someone else (NN, eventually, sacrificing her life to save the world).
ooo that tea sounds amazing. I remember going to tea at the grand Floridian with my roommates when I was doing the college program there and the only tea I remember was this amazing vanilla tea. The Inca's had an Empire akin to the Roman Empire. Tainas in the Caribbean had more rights than European. They weren't savages, the colonizers erased our history. Edit: Is it weird that I think that the Targaryen had a bigger role in the beginning of the Valerian empire. They bread dragons for war and that's how they conquered. Maybe they lost their power but obviously they are more gifted. We can't deny the dragon dreams and we don't know if other valerian had them.
Maybe one family or a set of families decided to get rid of some rivals that are located near one of the flames and thought it won't affect the rest of the freehold 😬

There is what looks a heck of a lot like a sunken continent, or sub-continent, already on the map. Maybe you bring it up later, as I'm not done watching, but the fact has been bugging me. Look to the north of Mossovy and Nefer on a map of Essos. You'll see a place called The Thousand Islands in the Shivering Sea. Usually, as with Oceanea, a sunken continent under the Phillipines and *I think* New Zealand, a whole bunch of islands in a cluster this way indicates that there was once land there. Another Hammer of the Waters, perhaps? We do know Essos has its equivalent to the CotF. Also, I love cockatoos. I've never met an aggressive one. They're always super friendly. If I didn't have Maine Coon cats, which have about the same prey drive as a bobcat and males can weigh in excess of 30lbs at their largest, I'd love to have one. Nice birb.
via evaporative cooling and other complex effects, (im perdy sure... :\ ), the water buildup can also be inside glaciers. I believe that scientists today are finding that water can be completely invisibly held inside icy masses and can "burst" out from detailed satellite image studies. Atlantis is Santorini that Thera Volcano blow up 3600 years ago. It was the Minoans the pre Greeks that built up these civilizations , they made a city in Crete before the volcano erupt they soon disappear after the eruption. I believe it combination of natural disaster and war why they disappear from history. Before that it civilizations of UR then Sumer, were the ones and first building blocks for Rome and Egypt, Greece. Pluto in his time line this happen 900 years ago that turn into a legend. This event also link to the Exodus.
I do think the Santorini event absolutely influenced the Atlantis tale and the reception of it among the Greeks, but I do not think it was entirely based on that by any means. But that’s the event that establishes the groundwork, that a great people call suffer doom in a day due to nature’s violence

I love how engaging you are with your audience. You don't see that much. I have a gut feeling our politics don't align* but talking about anything else, I imagine we'd see eye to eye and work off one another, as you seem like a pretty sharp individual. *My politics and philosophy are based around the writings of Ayn Rand and Robert A. Heinlein, along with the Founders, sans slavery, though I believe they left too many holes open for corruption. At the end of the day, I just want trans people who chose to transition at 25 or older - Buck Angel started at 30 and he's a fucking stud for a guy whose nickname is "Tranpa". He doesn't look like he's about to turn 60 at all. - to be able to guard their marijuana gardens with AK-47s, and possibly a few well-placed booby traps. Really, my politics can be summed up with a sentence: I just want to be left alone, and want the same for others. I love charity and once I hit a perfectly realistic goal with my small business, I'll be donating half my profits to charity. P. S. The only reason I said 25 as a good age for transition is because this is the age at which the brain's development is fully complete, but if someone wants to go ahead at 18 or 20, that's respectable. I just worry about kids getting into something they don't understand, or teens following what even Bill Maher said is starting to look like a trend, and detrans folks really break my heart. I know there aren't that many, but more are coming out every day. There is a whole Tik Tok community, because the only people that are there for them are one another. It's a complex issue that deserves to be taken with nuance.

28:00 The 'Greek Dark Age' is thought to have lasted about five or six centuries. Mycenean Greece was one of several cultures which fell apart during the Late Bronze Age Collapse. This is the same event (although it was more a process, a chain reaction, than a singular event) which involved the Trojan War, the Egyptian wars against the Sea Peoples, and the Egyptian Empire losing control of the land of Canaan, which is probably the kernel of truth which eventually morphed into the book of Exodus. This happened around-about 1200BC. There was a Greek alphabet during the Late Bronze Age, but after the Collapse there's a complete absence of it, with no archeological artifacts with writing from after that date. This is why Homer, and people like him, had to memorise stories instead of writing them down. It wasn't until about 400, maybe 500 BC (that's off the top of my head, may not be exactly right) that the Greeks reacquired literacy. This time, they borrowed and altered the Phoenician script, rather than imitating the old Bronze Age Greek script. What I find really interesting is that the Egyptian character was aware of this Greek Dark Age, with the detail that the Greeks used to have literacy, lost it, and eventually regained it. This suggests an institutional knowledge, with history books having been handed down within Egyptian academia for hundreds of years. Obviously I'm not saying that the whole Atlantis story is literally true, but it's interesting seeing these tidbits of true information.
The mention of the Mediterranean and the 'other sea' "For the sea that is within the straits of Heracles is only a harbour, having a narrow entrance, but that other sea is a real sea and the surrounding land may be truly called a boundless continent. There is a very important word in that sentence "surrounding". The surrounding land. It's not describing an island, it's describing a sea that is surrounded by land, like the Mediterranean is. I have no idea how someone can read that sentence and think it's talking about an island. Unless it's a misstranslation, and then people should stop using this quote and use the real translation.
You thing I find interesting that didn’t get much focus was that the R’hllorists were a supposed cause for the Doom. Were the maesters just connecting the Doom being a fiery cataclysm to R’hllor fire magic or is there some bad blood between the Valyrians and the R’hllorists that doesn’t get exposited?
Would the Daynes be descendants of non-dragonrider peoples from the great empire of down and the Valyrians be descended from the dragonriders from the great empire of dawn? There's no indication that the Daynes used to be dragonriders (that I've noticed, at least). It makes sense for dragonriders to go somewhere full of active volcanoes since fire magic is a big thing for them (and volcanoes seem to have some cultural importance to them since most of the locations we're told dragonriders went to seem to be close to volcanoes and the Valyrians even thoght the dragons came from volcanoes, which while unlikely to be factually true, may have come from an earlier sense of importance attributed to volcanoes. If anything, continually doing human sacrifices in order to keep a ring of volcanoes from exploding in your face for 5000 years seems incovenient, but the Valyrians don't seem to have ever considered the possibility of moving somewhere else, then again, maybe it's just hubris), but if someone isn't a dragonrider, dorne seems like a nice place to go to settle down.
It seems to me that the things said about the bloodstone Emperor are very similar to the things said about Dany in ADWD. Perhaps it's fake news and there is more to the story than we think. Kind of like with the war between the children and the first men. The truth is muddled because the Long Night is a historical bottleneck.
Could you recommend a good arya steam you've done bro. She's my favorite character from the book and show. I've tried to watch other videos about her but I can't watch more than a minute lmao
in the King Bran series I talk about her a lot. The first one is Greenseer Kings of Ancient Westeros, tons of Arya, then theres an Arya Livestream later in that playlist. Then there's the Weirwood goddess series, that's older and heavier but has lots of Arya. Also a winds of winter predictions with Quinn about Arya in Braavos

Much of free folk/wildling society has already been lost and this is thematically and symbolically addressed. There was a sad song about the extinction of the giants and Mance names himself Abel. A name Mance chose as an anagram of Bael but which GRRM probably chose as a reference to a biblical representative of hunter-gatherers murdered by his farmer brother. Jon Snow knowing nothing is another way to stress that there is an entire society and culture up there that is alive and alien that nobody south of the wall knows anything about. When they get wiped out by the Others nobody will remember them. The silence will last long and long and all that.

Atlantis an amazing metaphor for hubris and all, but it is just a story dont know how people are so fixated on it, even the real events recorded by the historians at the time are hard to validate, Troy as an example.
Well there was a Trojan War, several of them actually, there are 6 or 7 levels to the city showing that it was sacked and rebuilt several times, similar to how Rome's subway system still finds full buildings completely underground. Atlantis itself almost certainly isn't real in the fantastical sense but it could have been based on the very real destruction of Santorini by a volcano, which would have been a distant memory to the Greeks at that point in time. They could have forgotten in the chaos that Santorini was a Greek city-state like the ones on other islands and thought that it must have been a massive heinous empire to have the gods' wrath brought down on them like that.

I loved this video and I also agree there should be a story about an Atlantis like civilization I have been working on a story of my own for quite some time and I always liked the idea of a glorious conquer civilization being in the present and sowing the seeds of their future destruction.
I love that the bird and I have the same first name 😀
Love the content even more obviously. And I look forward to reading your story when it's available
Perfect idea!!! This world DOES NEED another story about Atlantis! 🔥🔥🔥
Also, what about Lemuria myth? Not so much info and stories about the latter one
People really need to talk more about Lemuria.
Egyptian priest: YOU KNOW NOTHING JON SOLON
thanks for another great stream. this was an interesting topic and discussion.
It’s crazy to me how many times I’ve watched a video and you said that originally you were going to do another video but needed more time, and yet you are still able to put together a multi-hour video on a completely different topic. That’s crazy impressive.
I could probably freestyle about Atlantis pretty much anytime hahah. cheers and thanks
Dude you totally deserve it Your first great empire of the dawn video is absolutely epic
1:33:23 - ooh, raining down Dragon Glass and black blood?
Lookit George, who has weaved together such deep symbolism in his world that he is able to bring us ancient Nights Watch imagery even while describing the other side of the world burning down 🏆
I’m not sure but I remember something about the point that Arda was literally designed as ancient earth with end of the third age being, approximately 6,000 years ago and 20th century being the beginning of 7th age of Arda.
BTW Love your work, I’ve learned many things from your contact man. ♥️
Finding a great quality asoiaf content channel? Great! But finding someone who loves Atlantis lore without believing it is real? Priceless.
That’s really threading the needle isn’t it. I read Antideluvian World, loved it. As inspiration for fantasy writing hahah not as fact
@@DavidLightbringer ...and now I am heading to audible to add that to my libaray for when I finish my current AGOT relisten. Or to listen between breaks of not being able to handle Ned making ongoing terrible choices.
I can’t wait to read your book! Given your background on studying mythology, I feel like you will be able to create your own fascinating mythology. Also, an Atlantis themed fantasy will be breath of fresh air to the genre. It’s not common at all so I’m really excited to read your work!
Love all this symbolism. These videos always make me look at the content in the books in ways I hadn't considered. Keep it up man! Smashing great work!
Eheh I actually was thinking of Waymar Royce a lot ! 😂
Great stream !
confirmed: went and busted out my "robert frost selected poems"
fire and ice
some say the world will end in fire
some say in ice
from what ive tasted of desire
i hold with those who favor fire
but if it had to perish twice
i think i know enough of hate
to know that for destruction ice
is also great
and would suffice
this was my favorite poem before i ever got into GoT
side note: what if the bronze age collapse was just another sneaky cataclysm instead of sea peoples. (sea peoples could survive floods and cataclysm easier though!)
also, this is only the 2nd video ive heard you discuss your novel on.
also, "the adam and eve story" by chan thomas relates to these themes. cycles of destruction
Go to New Orleans if you want the Atlantis pre cataclysm vibe
Hey LmL, if you're into tea recommendations, I am hard-core into Palais de The (in the US only ships from the East Coast)
*Amazing* mint tea, amazing black teas, amazing _everything_ .
For a more local, perhaps more affordable option, try American House Coffee and Tea - they have good and diverse stuff, but some are a miss. So I buy an ounce or two to try different flavors.
Also really love their spices!
Keep that throat well taken care of 🙏🫖✨
Oh thanks! Awesome!
Great stream
💀💀💀 shout out to the fall out parallel of atlantis to america is a grim foreshadowing 😅😅👌🏼
that may be another reason why the Atlantis myth has so much allure. It’s the cautionary tale for all empires - thats explicitly the point the fable
Great stream, lovely artwork, Cleo is being a boss. What more could you ask for?
1. Dragon Bomb
2. Drogo Coffee
3. Iceberg part 2 soon
4. Vibes

I need to buy some good vanilla tea again lol I bought some once but I ran out years ago
(where why UA-cam recommended this older video but it's perfect!)
I know this is an old video but I absolutely recommend exu: calamity, it's a 4 episode spinoff DnD show thing that is about an Atlantis style flying city right before and during the end(calamity) and it's really great.
LML on the great empire of the dawn is awesome! Love his analysis!
LML, you mesh two of my passions so well together - mythical civilisations and ASOIAF 😊
Maybe one family or a set of families decided to get rid of some rivals that are located near one of the flames and thought it won't affect the rest of the freehold 😬
great stream dave, have some blood for the algoweirnet
I don't mean to bug out when I ask, I just get paranoid that paypal failed to send my messages and they get lost in the ether. Looking forward to Iceberg part 2. My girlfriend was listening in the background and had to check on me when you pulled up my pfp, I was cackling like a madman.
heh heh YES that's what I was hoping for exactly, muah ha ha ha!
Not sure if Doggerland(Landbridge that used to connect England with Denmark back in the day) is Atlantis or the Arm of Dorn
Arn of Dorne is the bridge that copy of way the Native Americans across from Serbia to North America.

Don't take my word, i'm lazily not checking this one. Heard it from a friend a couple years ago.
There a hundreds to thousands of cultures that kept old languages, translations, and common tongue. We called them Citadels.
Could we talk about how Sothoryos and Ulthos are almost certainly the same continent? What's up with people not sailing south enough to figure that out?
Asshai'i berries are very high in antioxidants.

The doom was a national tragedy.
Love this and all your other videos - was wondering if you are a gardener or architect type of writer? It sounds like you are most likely an architect.
Haha perhaps! I think I’m a bit of both, I do like to architect my world building, but not the action of the story. That’s got to come fresh from the chaos realm haha

The 'Greek Dark Age' is thought to have lasted about five or six centuries.
The mention of the Mediterranean and the 'other sea'
"For the sea that is within the straits of Heracles is only a harbour, having a narrow entrance, but that other sea is a real sea and the surrounding land may be truly called a boundless continent.
It Santorini that Atlantis Pluto was off a bit of his location.
I miss the intro, lucifer epic sound
You thing I find interesting that didn’t get much focus was that the R’hllorists were a supposed cause for the Doom. Were the maesters just connecting the Doom being a fiery cataclysm to R’hllor fire magic or is there some bad blood between the Valyrians and the R’hllorists that doesn’t get exposited?
I can recommend you a very good gunpowder green tea with spearmint. Just don't know whether you can easily import it from Germany! 😉
I NEED THE BOOK
I don't care how many times I heard said. I will never read it any other way than Ass High. And I think that's kinda the intent.
What mints or candys are you eating in the video I want some
Could you recommend a good arya steam you've done bro.
I've watched the whole series with you and Quinn. I loved it. Thank you I'm going to look now

no worries and no rush, you've had a hell of a month and I understand the sometimes distracted brain thing lol. Thank you as always for all the great content!
@@Evilanious omg yeah, true. I guess the real question is how many societies have already been lost and how many more will be lost before the end. Oof, that one hurts to think about...
Thank you!
the eye colours in danis vision could be down to the fact we only know of very few valyrian groups thus given the way eye colour works and them being linked in anyway to the great empire of the dawn we would not know all the valyrian families eye colours only the few that have ever been recorded and eye colour can change within a family over time hell im the first person in my family to have blue eyes that change from dark blue to a really light pale blue depending on light however 400 generations ago there are mentions of family members with my eye colour it is like any other gene we have it can be repressed for yrs and then show up at random or it can be one that in some always shows up
Atlantis an amazing metaphor for hubris and all, but it is just a story dont know how people are so fixated on it, even the real events recorded by the historians at the time are hard to validate, Troy as an example.
I guess cause it our past. These civilizations are building blocks of Western Civilization. By the way Troy was real built in Turkey.
