I have always been amazed by the creators and writers of Gunsmoke radio episodes for their foresight and advanced thinking on matters like racism and the way they included their compassionate thinking towards it. They must have been very very intelligent people.
Originally broadcast on September 26, 1953. The last "sustaining" episode for a while, as General Foods [for Post cereals], became the first regular sponsor of the series the following week.
Very good ..its like I was watching a movie
Dramatic radio has that effect on people. 😀
This episode was later adapted for television {April 4, 1959}.
Great one!!!
Wow, a relatively happy ending - seems like a rarity for these old Gunsmoke programs
The Wild West was full of pathos and tragedy.
I really liked this one. The right people got knocked out and the right people lived happily ever after.
Thank you
Old Trail is the theme song
A very touching episode which truly highlights the bigoted ways of years gone past... 14 Apr 2024
A little soppy but a standout episode,..in my top 5
A little bit sugary, but the racism was well done for a programme that was released in the1950s when things were very different.
I loved it

John Meston wrote the best scripts.
@@fromthesidelines Yes sir, he most certainly did.
I laughed when Matt says to Hunter, "Well?". 🙂
As always, thank you for posting.👍
