    nice rig. I have the exact same boat but mines a 2018. this may or may not interest you, but I have the standard 150efi four stroke. I was getting 47mph trimmed pretty much all the way up like you do and was running 6100-6200 rpm. I noticed you were just over 6 k as well. I switched from a 14x18p enertia to a 13.8x20p enertia and trimmed up im actually about 3-4 mph faster than yours is (53mph with the 150), so I picked up about 6 mph. if you went up one pitch I think you would see 55-56 mph, which is no joke in a boat as heavy as ours. these hulls are built like tanks. you might be the type to want everything you can squeeze out of it, or may not see 5 more mph as justification for a $500 prop. super nice rig and thx for the ride brother

      Thanks for the info. I didn’t think the 25hp would be that much more speed. What rpm are you getting with the new prop at top speed?

    • @bryancarpenter3648
      @bryancarpenter3648 5 років тому

      about 5600 which just about smack in the middle of my suggested max. I should add, I run with very light loads. 6 rods and couple of trays of artificials (rattle traps etc) , , , , I think they prop these boats to run heavy by folks that might not know how to really trim it out running flat out. im not sure what prop you have or the suggested rpm range of your pro xs, but I think you would see 5-6 mph.

    • @8michael7
      @8michael7  5 років тому

      Bryan Carpenter it’s a mercury tempest 17p 6000 is supposed to be max. Can’t remember the range for its best. Have to look it up. I have been thinking about doing an 18 but just a little scared with it being 600$ and there is a chance it may not do much or be really bad for the motor. Then I’m back to where I started 600$ less. One day I’ll pull trigger

    • @bryancarpenter3648
      @bryancarpenter3648 5 років тому

      well, my max rpm is 5800 and I was tickling 6100. if you do ever move on a new prop, go with the enertia. its not only designed for heavier boats, but its made from mercurys new x7 alloy. google it. its 30% stronger for flex than conventional stainless and 50% more abrasion and shear strength. this means thinner blades can be used in similar pitches compared to stainless. I would need to know your diameter to suggest one with confidence, but now I think you would pick up more speed than I first thought (with an x7 enertia) let me know your diameter, and I will suggest a enertia, then you run it by mercury in Wisconsin. they are easy to get ahold of and super great to deal with. it definitely wont hurt your motor if you stay within your suggested rpm range. I would be thrilled to help you pick one. jeez, you could see 7 even 8 mph.

      k9mick121 so i forgot to ask about it when I took my boat in for service but did call after the fact to see if it would cost me anything. They did say it is covered under warranty and that the speedo is measured by water speed through a jet. It is prob plugged. But I use the speed on my depth finder. It is gps and super accurate. I wouldn’t let the speedo keep you from buying what you want.

I've never owned a boat before, and seeing this video has helped give insight into launching and retrieving it. I'm curious what that black pole on your trailer is used for. I honestly could not give you great advice on that. My 175 does really good at getting the boat out of the water and runs about 48mph. Does well pulling a tube. Russell Sands power wise no problem. But it has a 5.0L what does suck is the suspension. It really bounces the truck often. But my buddy pulled it with his 2012 ram 1500 and truck didn’t move going down the highway. So if your pulling long distance I would recommend bigger truck or smaller boat.
