• 'Life With Roger' finds the title character (played by Mike O'Malley) about to commit suicide; a doctor comes along and talks him out of it. Meanwhile Roger talks the doc out of his impending marriage. So naturally they move in together, but can two men share an apartment without driving each other crazy? One season on The WB.
• 'Homeboys in Outer Space" Two mismatched buddies (Flex and Darryl M Bell) fly around the 'verse in a ship with a smart-aleck computer; Paulette Braxton co-stars as a bounty hunter. One season on UPN.

Fun Fact: Kevin Guillaume, the composer of the theme song of Homeboys in Outer Space, is the son of the late actor Robert Guillaume, of course, famously of Benson and Soap.
Homeboys in Outer Space did one thing very well: It reminded me how fantastic Red Dwarf truly was.
They called their ship a "space hoopty," for spirit's sake!
Kevin Michael Richardson is nowadays part of the voice cast on The Simpsons.
I'd love to find out what it was like pitching Homeboys in Outer Space. Something about the concept seems outright goofy to me.

Life With Roger was from Robert Griffard and Howard Adler, who created "Going Places", which also starred Hallie Todd. The creators would have Hallie appear on yet another one of their shows after Roger's cancelation, when she guest starred on "Two of a Kind".
Jeez, Homeboys in Outer Space. Yeah, I am embarrassed to admit, I watched about three episodes of that. I knew it wasn't going to last more than a year, even on UPN.

Flex was known prior to Homeboys for appearing as a dancer in Crystal Waters's Gypsy Woman video.

@@andrewbarton2590 Flex was also on "Where I Live" prior to Homeboys. Although the former was short-lived, it seems to be held in a higher regard than Homeboys, and it actually got a second season before it was abruptly canceled.

As I mentioned above, Hallie was already a go-to actress for show creators Robert Griffard and Howard Adler. She had starred in their series "Going Places" back in 1990 (which was produced by them along with Miller-Boyett), and, after Roger was canceled, she guest starred on Two of a Kind, another Griffard/Adler production.
