Of course so I am into symphonic heavy metal as well and there are three or four amazing top tier vocalists who I will always appreciate such as Sharon den Adel, Brittany Hayes, Elise Ryd, Diana Leah Simone Simons and yeah even fFoor Jansen to an extent, who have a variety of sound or tone or range or emotive delivery. No matter how long you make your Angelina reaction videos, the Angels will watch to the end. (Stopping is sacrilege.) A guitar musician with many Angelina reaction videos recently commented that UA-cam analytics reported to him that Angelina’s fans are the most patient of all artists he reviews (they hang around longer than any others). Another reactor held a livestream recently, and Angelina’s fans stayed with him for 9-1/2 hours.

Wonderful reaction. I really enjoyed the comparison of the 2 ages. Angelina's dedications in her art shows in everything she does. We are so lucky that we get to see the evolution of this young lady. It's hard to believe that she is only 16 years old at this time.

Our tiny little girl with the grownup voice will be 17 on Jan. 10, 23 and is now 6'1" tall and could be a super model, but I hope the major portion of her career will dedicated to her music and taking the world to a better place. I don't think she even realizes this power she holds over us and need to hear that signature voice to fill that empty void within all of us.

I think you can hear that all the creativity was already in Angelina’s head at 10 years old. She knew then what she wanted the song to sound like. Time and grace gave her an instrument capable of bringing out what she heard in her own head.

I love watching her early years! She throws her whole self into every song. It’s as if she is experiencing the song for real. She is so animated, her voice slides up and her arms slide up, she pushes her body up to get all of the sound out. She’s just adorable❤

@@wayneraynal8487 Yes he did and I've seen it. It was great. My point was that she took a different approach. She was the first one to go back and forth between the two and spend as much time on the first song as she did the second. IMO.

It is so nice to hear the introduction before singing the song. This is a lost art. Her 16 yr version is so beatiful, tasty, soulful and emotional. What a sensational Artist at 10 and getting better at 16. Can't wait for her future versions.

Oh my goodness Bethany, that was simply one of the best ever reaction/analysis I have ever seen when comparing these two versions that Angelina performed. And no, that was not to long, would have been here for another 10 minutes listening to you. The 10 year old version by Angelina always gets me in the tear ducts with the amount of feeling and emotion she gives you and the difference between her speaking voice and her singing voice, remarkable. All that I can say about the 16 year old rendition that she gifted us is that I have been listening to this song for over 60 years and her rendition is simply the best I have ever heard in my lifetime. Me too Carl, this has been a favorite song of mine for 50 years & I've heard a lot of different legendary singers cover it, but none as beautiful as her latest version. It's just stunning. I hope I'm still around if she records this again in her 20's or 30's. I just hope we get to see her singing it for the next one.

Thanks hun. I KNEW you would love (and nail) this comparison reaction. I thoroughly enjoyed every second of it. No one I know of does a better job of pointing out all the nuances in her voice, and in this particular reaction, also her differences and similarities, though 6 years apart. I really think that she did an extraordinary good job at 10, I have to say. This was uploaded in February and she turned 10 on January 10th, so there is a fair chance that she was still 9 when she recorded it. At any rate we're witnessing a VERY young 10 year old here. The same can be said about her age in the last one; she may very well have been 15 at the time of recording, Not anywhere close to 17 at least. I know that what I just said is not very important, but at least to me, it's still worth making note of. 1 year is a whole lot of potential development, at least in HER development speed 😉
Another thing I really liked in this one is that you didn't utter a single word about her looks. We can all see that she is very beautiful, and in a MUSIC reaction/breakdown video like this, her looks is very much secondary. Much love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥

AJ stirs your innermost deepest emotion with each, and every performance. The tears, the shortness of breath, she evokes continually are beyond comprehension.
Bethany, I want to be very honest with you and tell you I was glued to my seat for 26:42 listening to your beautiful IN DEPTH analysis of these two incredibly fantastic video's of Angelina singing 'My Funny Valentine'. The name of the game is always how genuine someone is. Angelina is always genuine. She finds the love in every song she sings and we can hear it in her voice and feel it in our hearts. Bethany, your ":performance" was so genuine, so intelligent, so romantic, I literally fell in love with you during the video. No lie!
Back to Angelina! 🙂 When push comes to shove I will always admit I prefer to listen and see her sing this at 10. Of course, the 16 year old performance is, let's say, 'sensational', and I appreciate how she incorporated her creativity and stylish runs into the song, attributes she is already famous for at 16. The 10 year old version introduces us to a beautiful child sounding very much like a happy 10 year old and then, like magic we begin to listen to a voice which stuns us and to say she captivates us is the understatement of the Century! She's so comfortable sitting in that chair singing for us, with so much confidence and poise we can't believe what we are seeing with our eyes. You took over from there are told us what was going on and then, when the final chorus starts, OMG, just thinking about it is making me start to tear up. And, as if she knew we wanted to hear it again, she did the chorus again and, to me, I might be wrong but I felt she actually put even more feeling into it the second time. And, how does this incredible performance end? Naturally, she reverts back to the sweet 10 year old child, makes a heart with her hands, smiles and says, "Bye!"
Of course, by this time I am emotionally spent. The first time I heard the young version I got up out of my chair, walked around a bit and wanted to sit back down and play it again. But, I couldn't. I had to wait till I regained my composure. Was what I just saw and heard real!? I've since seen the video well over 100 times (200-300 hundred?) and I will never tire of watching it.
Bethany, have a wonderful holiday and share your love with those close to you. They have no idea how lucky they are that you are in their lives. Be well. 🌷

We all love your intricate analysis and your unbounded delight and joy and what she does. Most of us can only delight in the performance without actually knowing technically the intricacies of what she is doing... A little like being a customer in the worlds finest restaurant versus being a chef eating there and knowing how what they are consuming was produced (and the effort that goes into producing it).

Amazing to me how, when I listen to a great artist, I hear new things in a performance even after numerous previous times hearing it. Today, I could feel Angelina smiling while singing this song, in both versions. Morissette almost always makes me smile and Angelina often does as well but today I felt like Angelina herself was smiling while singing this song.
I think that each time I listen to Angelina, as if I’d not heard her sing before, and at the same time so wonderfully familiar and warm.
Angelina's 10 year old version once again left me in a puddle on the floor. So much emotion, putting everything into it for her fans including the intro. At 16, her voice is so polished and soaring that it sounds to me like a vinyl recording on an old Victrola. Absolutely beautiful! In the end though, the 10 year old performance from her living room remains my fave for its emotional tug. Have a great day!
What fascinates me about comparisons like this is not primarily how Angelina's voice has developed. It's that it shows how even at a very young age Angelina knew exactly how she wanted to perform a certain song even though her voice wasn't developed enough to accomplish everything she wanted.
It's also exciting when you realize that even though she's incredibly good today, we have to wait nearly ten more years before we know what she's really capable of doing with her voice.
Thank you for reacting to "My Funny Valentine," when Angelina was a little girl singing, her heart filled with love. I cried the first time hearing her Angel's voice. Now She is a young lady with so much soulful power in her voice that it's hard to compare her voice from then to now. I’ve seen several reactions to these two versions. It’s a dilemma for me because I have loved the 10 year old Angelina version for years and years. It’s stunning to see such a sensitive, but beautifully musical, take from a child. She is sitting on her sofa, singing her heart out in one glorious take-with nuance, phrasing, and power coming together. Sure, her voice is not as powerful and versatile as Angelina today, but really, nobody can match Angelina’s vocal tools today.
Her current version is mesmerizing. I think that now Angelina decides how she wants to present her version of a song, and she doesn’t ever worry about whether she can deliver what she has in mind. So we get an incredible array of color, range, texture, fry, phrasing, and other vocal dynamics that she can combine so effortlessly to create a gorgeous presentation that still keeps that retro vibe. This current version is a vocal masterpiece, but I am captivated by the emotion in her earlier version.

Angelina has had what the industry calls "A SiGNATURE VOICE" even at the age of 7. For me, as soon as I hear the first few words of a signature voice, I know who I am experiencing, but AJ voice is like nothing I have experienced in the past of my 75 years, she has the ultimate signature voice.
I remember one reactor/singer (Richard?), stopping his reaction after 10 seconds and blurting out: “She has THE voice”. Perfect!

This is an excellent critique.
And she slipped in one of her sneaky vibratos on the second half of the word "mouth". That is the sort of thing she has been doing since the beginning. She wows everyone with the bigger parts of her singing but when you hear again and again, you start to notice these "stealth" wows.
This is my 137th time listening to this MASTERPIECE and each time I experience a new level of perfection by our ethereal prodigy extraordinaire, Angelina Jordan.
When you listen to the A cappella portions of this performance at the very end of the song you are truly experiencing the genius of Angelina Jordan’s PERFECT PITCH.
Sinatra, rest in peace Angelina Jordan, the Bare Foot Queen has taken the crown and there is nothing like her in the universe.
When I first heard her perform this. I put it on pause and brought up Sinatra, Bublé, Streisand, Fitzgerald and Vaughan's version of this song to compare it to AJ version, and none of them moved me like this version. It is so hard to comprehend that Angelina from 7 to 16 is the greatest story telling being in my 75 years of experiencing great vocalist and I can't wait for the rest of the story.
We are not only hearing it, but we are also feeling each word as though she were singing to each of us individually. She is the only one in this universe that is capable of making us feel the true emotion of this ballad. There is no way to explain this gift that has been given to the universe, does she even know, or understand the power she encompasses?
I don't know if she knows how great her power is, but I know. She made me travel all the way to Norway last summer🙂
Fantastic reaction! Love your enthusiasm, appreciation of and admiration for Angelina. You do this right! Interestingly (for me anyway), is that while I can appreciate the technical growth in the later version, I still have a stronger emotional response to her earlier version. I am a little sad that we will never have the 7-10 (or12) year old voice of Angelina to experience live again. I so envy those who experienced Angelina through those early years. Big thanks to Grandma Mery and all others who recorded this treasure. The "new" Angelina is not less, just different. You didn’t mention that she was singing in a lower key as a ten year old. Also, did you notice that at ten she was already changing the sound “a” into an “e” at the ends of words and is still doing it today? Also, both of these were Valentine “gifts” to her audience. I felt that she used almost all her tools in her toolbox for this latest version, as if she wanted to incorporate most of her abilities for us with this gift. Also, did you notice that at ten she pronounced the word Valentine as ValentiMe? I thought that was so cute because my kids used to pronounce it like that also! You did a great job here with your reaction. There are other songs she has performed more than once in her career at different ages that hopefully you will cover and compare as well.

She gives us a portal to another time. Her voice carries all those greats that show up with her in these. Her rooftop version of Every time We Say Goodbye , she stands right next to Ella. Which I can’t believe we’re even talking about it. Ella was the voice of the century. And now this happens. Whats thrilling is maybe we get to see her live. I was too young for Ella but i woulda seen her in a heart beat. Angelina’s voice just fills everything, minds, hearts, homes. The compilations on UA-cam as house music or work music just makes home better, driving is great-cinematic even. She becoming an event , a happening.
I love Angelina's early performances of this song. There is another one with her performing on stage which is so good too. However, I was blown away by her furniture store version. It was like she was bursting out as the close to fully formed adult diva she is destined to be.
in the first video, she was everyone's daughter, granddaughter singing her heart out to share her musical love with her family. it's heartwarming to watch/listen to that performance. in the second performance, OMG, it is beautiful vocally as it can get. I could close my eyes and listen to her voice and her singing, and get lost in the feel.

Both versions are amazing. The first one is so sweet and endearing and you can see 10 year old Angelina throwing in all she has. In the second one you only hear her sing and it is incredibly beautiful. 16 year old Angelina slips and slides from note to note, plays with rhythm and pauses and uses her voice in so many ways. She shows so much growth and shows how her voice is maturing.
She has a threefold way of warping time:
- First of all she makes us forget about time for a little while.
- The second way is that she takes us back in time to let us experience music as it was sung back than.
- The third way is that takes classic epic songs and brings them in to modern times.
In both versions she uses the first way and makes me forget about time. In the first version she uses the second way as well and takes us back in time 50 years and let’s us experience the way this song was back than. In the second version she uses the third way and brings this song to modern times and breathes new life in it.
She is growing into her own voice and art. I prefer the new version as it touches me more emotionally, but again both are beautiful.

AJ at 10 was so incredibly precious. Her artistic ability and ear was there in full, but at 16 she is very much developed and delivers a gorgeous piece of art/music... I don't think I can come up with a more gorgeous piece of singing than AJ doing this @ 16. I'm looking forward to seeing Angelina with a band that she's had some time with. I think she will be a household name, she deserves it. And the world needs her, and her goals to sing for the whole world, spreading love and kindness to everyone.

She's always experimented with her voice and as many different vocal techniques as she could learn, yet I have never heard her once OVER-sing any song! I would think that it's tempting, especially for young singers who learn something new, to simply go crazy over this new ability, but not Angelina. The artistry of knowing where and when to sprinkle in various techniques to give the performance variety and color and texture is simply amazing. And just think, her physical instrument, larynx, vocal cords, etc. will not be fully matured for about another ten years! Oh. My. Goodness. Another decade of developing her control, her breath, her technical facility, and her artistry! Watch out world, Angelina is going to change popular music into something really special with not only her talent, but her working at becoming the best singer she can be! For me you could have played all the way through both 3 times and dissected them and analysed them with you very knowledgeable expertise. I'd still be there listening and watching to the end.
For me the 2022 version is as Kenta states the most beautiful version of that song ever and makes me really emotional listening to it every time.
There are plenty of videos from love recordings from her summer concerts in Norway this year ( which I was fortunate enough to go and attend ) and I can tell you, listening live to her was even more incredible than I ever imagined. She is one special talent.

I have to say I have been following Angelina's career since she was quite small. She has grown into one of the most beautiful young women around, and her voice is capable of being so sultry and hypnotic. She is headed for iconic status without a doubt. One for the ages.
