    This is excellent all around. I need to learn this song and this is a tremendous help. The way you are explaining these voicings and showing them repeatedly at the end is pure gold.

    I love how you accompany yourself while singing. Would you make a video about fill-in type piano phrases while you are not singing( while you are singing a whole note)?

    • @Gerard_2024

      I echo this request. A video about fill-ins would be very interesting.

      Yes! I'd love to put in a lot of phrases and rhythmic patterns to add variety, but exactly how do I do this? For example, the 3.5-second passage that begins at 2:26, it sounds fantastic but what is that? I can't see from my angle what keys are being played. A whole video on "typical" passages and fills would be great.

    And, by the way, I'm writing this in 6/10/2020. I expect you'll find out exactly how roaring these 20's can be.

    13:02 on D7: "Thing of it as F#m7b5 chord" Oh, that's the same as Am6 which I think is how Barry Harris teaches most often to do scales of chords on Dom7. Barry calls the Mark Levin scale the Dom7 diminished.

    Very nice Tony . Love to hear some of your own compositions ( if any ? ) and
    your thoughts on song writing . And.....not wishing to push my luck....have song
    writing standards declined since the 30s and 40s ? Or is that just the opinion
    of an old fogey ? Ta !

    Hi Tony, what equipment and software do you use to make videos? I like to make videos to help my students but don't know what to use. Thanks!

    • @TonyWinston
      @TonyWinston  2 роки тому +1

      I use two sony cameras, both in the 300 dollar range. I capture audio with Tascam d40, edit with Sony Vegas, about 50 dollars. If I was starting over I'd get one good camera and use an external mic. Hope that helps. Some people use their iPhone with decent results.

    • @rebeccabennett-pianostudio

      @@TonyWinston thank you! I recently purchased a pair of sE Electronics sE7 Small-diaphragm Condenser Mics that I use with a Focusrite interface for audio. For video I use a webcam or iphone. I wish I knew how to get the sound from my condenser mics and use it with the video that i record on phone. Do you use any software for that?

    Great video as usual!!! May be one day a tutorial about Keith Jarrett's chords on Be My Love....Is it possible to contact you by Email for some specific questions? Thank you so much for all!

    • @TonyWinston
      @TonyWinston  6 років тому

      fairy tail13 winstonpiano@gmail.com I listened to be my love. He plays the song through 3 times without soloing, just nice chord voicings and no unusual reharm. Open voicings, some nice movement in the inner voices, pretty basic for Keith, good study for the rest of us

    • @mistycat1228
      @mistycat1228 6 років тому

      Thank you so much. Of Course, pretty simple version of Be my Love by Keith Jarret but as you demonstrated
      brilliantly for My Romance, basic approach is the best way for beginners to understand the meaning of lead sheets and how to begin successfully jazz standarts study! Here, inner voicings might confuse new students...I do love your incredible teaching of all topics becoming so clear! it only remains to work hard now!

  • @ingvildhh
    @ingvildhh 6 років тому

    Do you have a sheet with complete chords? So it mirrors the things you are actually playing. I feel like the reharm sheet is simplified by taking some chords out? Maybe I have the wrong idea, but it would be great if you have a more "difficult" and complete sheet :) Thank you.

    • @TonyWinston
      @TonyWinston  6 років тому

      ingvildhh good comment. Sometimes the chord symbol is simple - like Dm7 - and I play Dm9 or Dm11. I'm taking a break from videos this week but I'll address this in my next video.

    Why is it called relative two please?

    • @TonyWinston
      @TonyWinston  6 років тому +1

      Quit hunt the relative 2 chord is a minor chord located a 4th below the dominant 7th chord. Examples:
      Dm7-G7, Am7-D7. Ebm7-Ab7
