Illenium is the best current melodic EDM artist. Easy. Legend.
Highly disagree. He may be the biggest but definitely not the best. A lot of his stuff is very repetitive and boring imo. AU5 is the best melodic EDM producer imo in terms of sound design and composition.
@@ItsBabaEro I second this. Illenium is really good no doubt, just repetitive ideas and very saturated similar to how certain generic metalcore bands can sound.

Ben Walter, Nurko and others are great for melodic dubstep which is my go to. Illenium's older dupstep remixes were awesome though.
Pretty crazy how both the EDM and Metal scene have grown together over the years. Both of them took elements of each others genres and took off with it.

My musical taste has changed so much over the years. It started out with alternative, rock, and a bit of metal; moved into pop and house music; then into melodic dubstep and future bass. I've been so excited that everything is all coming together!

Sullvian King is a great artist that mixes dubstep, edm with metal its fucking dope you should check him out if you aren't already familiar.

Illenium is one of the best. He is a legend. He did a really good song with I prevail. I think he has done a few other metalcore features but i cant think of them off the top of my head. Kayzo has done a bunch with metalcore too (Bad omens, underoath, and few others)
Highly recommend his collab with I Prevail as well!
I love how I'm an Illenial (Illenium super fan) and he does collabs like this and introduces artists of other genres to me. I now have a Spiritbox playlist.
As a massive edm fan, I stumbled upon this song a week ago by accident while listening to ILLENIUM’s music, and I am obsessed, never knew metal would be a genre I listen to but now I’m obsessed with Spirtbox’s music

Favorite Illenium album is Ashes and favorite song Afterlife. This collab is super sick, great to see these two types of music collide like this.

The Sandstorm intro made me chuckle hot coffee onto my chest; thanks for that :) I like the crossover of metal and eletronica that's been occurring. Hopefully we can make dark techno heavier with some sweet riffs and scramz. Would love to see a collab between Spurrrrrrtburx and Sierra (check out Sierra's Unbroken for dark cyberpunk vibes).

I can definitely say the metal + edm thing has been going on for a little while, though most of it was from like two guys, PhaseOne and Sullivan King. That is unless you count all of deathstep since it's basically just death metal/deathcore influenced brostep, but I don't usually hear guitars or screaming, or see features from those kind of bands.
I’d like to see more metal acts collab with artists like this and also Carpenter Brut. This track is definitely a vibe

Such a good song! Spiritbox is well on their way to be one of the defining metal bands of the 2020s. These are the kind of collabs more metal bands need to do.
Saw the Livestream of illeniums ultra music Set und couldnt believe it, when i heard Courtneys vocals... Was blown away right away
I’m so happy for them, I just hope they reach back to the singles collection days and release something very similar in the future or even go as far back as aphids. It’s what drew me into them. But couldn’t be happier for them.

you need to hear masquerade from kai wachi. i rarely see any reaction to this guy and he could probably bring you a little bit more into EDM through the hard and unpredictable drops and insane melodies. anyway, i love your reactions and u earned my sub

I don't see any mention of the heavy edit of "story of my life" the trippie redd part in not the biggest fan of, but the rest of it is a banger. The main vocalist Sueco performed it live at red rocks and he has a verse to fill trippie's part that is much better. Pretty sure that version is also on UA-cam.

Being a fan of spiritbox this collab worked well bring 2 different style of music together, worked on different levels and recently we've been getting collabs that we never knew we needed 🖤🤘 #quakeroatmeal

I haven't listened to this type of screaming rock stuff in a minute (Like "oww wa ah ah ah down with the fitness" long). I listen to EDM these days. But edm has been putting some of this type of music out (Sullivan kings stuff/some phase one songs) and it works well to me.
Been a fan of Illenium for 6-7 years now. As a metal head. I love this

Illenium is part of the alliance. He’s part of the melodic EDM genre that draws a lot of influence from the metalcore and pop punk scenes.

I've been a bit of an EDM fan for almost 10 years at this point though it's mostly been dubstep that I've liked over the years with some other music sprinkled in, though since around 2019 to now I don't find most of it to be very good, those damn French! I've personally never been much into melodic dubstep unless it has some kind of bite to at as well like what Au5 does or one of Illenium's older collabs with Excision called Gold (Stupid Love). Speaking of Excision and collabs with Illenium, they also worked with I Prevail a couple years ago which I thought was cool when I heard about but I don't find the track to be very good (which makes sense, since it was released in 2020, after the riddim takeover ruined everything) and it'd probably be unlistenable without any kind of vocals, let alone I Prevail's.
Back when I was really into it though, I remember Excision, PhaseOne and Sullivan King being among my favorites with two out of three being clearly influenced by metalcore. And it was by then I realized that those two genres are like a match made in heaven. Hell, PhaseOne also has features from a ton of metalcore bands like In Hearts Wake and Northlane who are fellow Aussie boys, Crystal Lake, Periphery, Sleep Waker and the deathcore band Thy Art Is Murder. Meanwhile Sullivan King just kinda screams like a metalcore vocalist and sounds like an American Matt Tuck when singing.
Riddim single-handedly made me abandon the genre I was so invested in since I was 11. I’ve been dabbling back in with collabs like this and stuff from Sullivan King but not sure if I’ll ever be a true fan again.
Did if you want a great ride listen to the Illenium and Excision Back to Back show. It's like an hour and a half of amazingness! You don't have to react to it obviously, but it's fucking awesome!

There are some edm artists that grew up as metal heads and core kids. Skrillex being the most obvious. And then there’s Krewella, Modestep, Zedd, and Steve Aoki.

Also, did not understand this song. It was a bit too repetetive for me, nothing really interesting happened and about the breakdowns; I found them to pretty must the same both times. Pretty boring for me, unfortunately.

Eh nah man this isn't it. I hate EDM and don't like how it's making the transition into metal personally. Maybe it's cause I'm 36 years old and feel like a grandpa with a "get off my lawn moment" but it's just not my vibe.
