Do you understand that he took anesthetics ? It wasn't "poison" poison like, idk, cyanide. It was the drug to put yourself into deep sleep, slow down the metabolism, lower the body temperature, slow down blood flow, etc. This is the drug that he used on Feixiao to put her to sleep when he first meet her and were performing operation on her wounds. Literally right next to Lingsha, you can find "Jiaoqiu's Follow-Up Medical Report" and you can read everything yourself. In short, they didn't cut him open, just bite him all over body to drink his blood. Borisin bites appears to have some kind of toxin in their mouths, which caused the flesh surrounding the wounds to decay and atrophy. They literally left him there to die after they learned about the Tumbledust, but Tumbledust + Boresin toxin from bites are the reasons he didn't bleed out completely and survived long enough to be found. Then Bailu herself had to use her magic (aka, revive him and sustain long enough to stabilize his state). Even with Bailu and her miracles, he has fudged up liver and kidneys. Lost eyesight. Myelosuppression and Inflammation were also observed so lorewise, all he can do right now is just to walk around, slowly, like an old man and he can't eat spices he loved so much. Details can be read in the Report I mentioned earlier.

The 13 Flame-chasers truly, faced tragedy, no matter their universe counterparts. Welcome to Honkai everyone, where you cannot count on if everyone will come through the story alive. Unlike Genshin, where no important character will die. It's only a matter of time till someone important actually dies in Star Rail. And I feel, Himeko will be one of them, since she does not survive to the end in all prior Honkai series games, no matter the universe incarnation. As much as I want Himeko to not die, the past track records of Honkai series Himekos, and the fact in an optional easily missable dialog in the Penacony arc, where she basically implies she dreams of her HI3rd counterpart's life, I fear it's only a matter of time before Star Rail Himeko joins the previous Himekos in the Himeko death count

Is it a hot take to say Jaioqu should've died? I loved his sacrifice bit in the story, but when he suddenly plot armored out of it... made it feel like there's no real repercussions for the characters.
Not sure how hot of a take it is, but I personally differ from you on this point. I'm not the biggest fan of including death for the sake of death. I feel that there are other ways of life-changing permanent consequences, such as the loss of his eyes. His arc ended there for the sacrifice, but now he has a new arc of learning to live with his condition. I feel it presents more opportunities for character growth and writing, getting to live and metaphorically see the consequences of your actions. Now, if they brought back his sight next patch, then I'd be upset with the writing
@subtlesong8936 I'd agree if maybe the consequence actually made sense. He drank 'the most lethal poison this world knows' PRIOR to his stomach being gouged. And he lost his eyes. That's like if I kicked someone in the nuts and because of it they got a sprain on their wrist.

Tbh, if they did kill him off, then I would've been very sus of new foxian characters from here on out and be like "Oh okay, so are they gonna kill this one too?" 💀
@@HazeOvO It makes sense to me. Some medicines have unexpected side effects. Some painkillers for example can exacerbate stomach acid issues, even when not taken through the stomach at all. Stands to reason poisons might leave traces in unexpected places too.
Wild that Topaz's VA has the gall to play through Hoyoverse's games with such emotional engagement, considering she was quite vocal against Natlan's "whitewashing." So what? Was it all just performative clout-chasing? I bet it was. 😂
@@samsladevo Well damn, I did not expect to get a response from the VA herself. XD But yeah, I'm still callin' bullshit on this one, lady.
