Me in 1993: envious of so many of these looks Me in 2020: still thinks this show, which really set a tone for the 90s, was amazing and still finds inspiration in the collection But hey, as one door closes another opens and I think it was Marc Jacob's destiny to have his own label.
Love the look of all these Perry Ellis designs! The layers and fabric combinations are gorgeous: the creation of a new Barbie! The long, lean green dress Shalom is modeling at 8:30 is the best of the show! It is pure gamine enchantment: i adore it!
the first show to really show how fashion is inspired by music and culture. fashion, music, and culture had always mixed but never for all to see and never so obviously. a few things in the collection could still be worn today (short shorts, Birkenstock's, skull caps, crop tops)
Pretend We’re Dead - L7 The Day the World Turned Day-Glo - X-Ray Spex Sugar Kane - Sonic Youth Catchfire - Jesus and Mary Chain Fait Accompli - Curve Pretend We’re Dead reprise at finale
My guess is that the models knew Marc Jacobs had been fired so they naturally, understandably were "bummed" and felt badly for him. But, then, he started his own design line and made better history than P.E. :))
For me, when Shalom poses and pirouettes from 8:30 to 8:35, it is the penultimate and pure and perfect expression and illumination of her beauty, innocence, coquettish enchantment, and gamine-gracefulness. It is singular and constant as a bright and beaming star in the moonlit sky.
Love this collection, can't believe I'm looking at this iconic show in 2020. So many wonderful models and hahaha Yasmin LeBon! That was hilarious. She was gorgeous and had a sense of humor!
Does anyone know the music playing at the very beginning? The first time I heard it I hated it; now I'm loving and semi-obsessed. It really has a way of getting into your head!
and that dress at 5:50 !! so beautiful and 7:29 is a nice pairing, 10:35 is bad ass 14:00 is awesome 16:25 I want so bad!!! 17:00 is super cute and the one after that is remembered
@Charlie Baker, what made this collection iconic was it got Marc Jacobs fired from Perry Ellis, it also started his career at his own house, and later with Louis Vuitton
Dr. Martens, Birkenstocks, thin/non-existent eyebrows, thrift shops, cigarettes--what wasn't to love about this era? I just remember that at the end of the worst day, I could still take comfort in knowing I was nine-teen. I used to love drinking, too, but turning 21 just sucked all the fun out of it for me. Ah, let's go back in time and do it again! Can't we, please?
You made me remember it all, passing the bottle around, having fun with friends, wearing those semi gothic/ sensual outfits and, true, the eyebrows. Fun times.
Why is the catwalk so tiny? Maybe back in those days wood to build it was scarce? or too expensive? I was born in 2009 so I'm not sure what the world was like during the 90s
Look, I Love the pieces, would wear them back then and still would now, but as a massive grunge fan there is absolutely nothing grunge about this collection. A few flannel shirts under jackets, a couple of beanies and some combat boots doesn’t make it grunge. I cringe every time the words Marc jacob’s and grunge are put into the same sentence.
@@dxnce7593 The directors of Perry Ellis asked Marc Jacobs to create a collection updated to the new Grunge vibe, without going completely out of the classic Perry Ellis style...he did the opposite.
Some of the pieces worn in this show you can still wear today. My 15 year old daughter even loves this.
christ the models today got N.O.T.H.I.N.G. compared to turlington, banks, moss, campbell, harlow, christensen etc....
AMEN, my friend, AMEN.
Just each woman is beautiful
They were just beautiful women walking, people continue to do that, throughout the times.
Like this show or not, or whatever reservations one may have about the concept of luxury grunge, this was an ICONIC collection.
GRUNGE! 💘
Ironic. Marc Jacobs got fired after this show. Rest is history
Me in 1993: envious of so many of these looks

@vargkvinnan. Exactly! you could wear any of these today and look instagrammable.
Creditive director for Lv leather goods and ready to wear
always have to come back to this.. one of my fav shows ever

I wish they had the original music `to the show. The soundtrack for the show was AMAZING.
what was the original soundtrack?
Pretend We’re Dead - L7
The Day the World Turned Day-Glo - X-Ray Spex
Sugar Kane - Sonic Youth
Catchfire - Jesus and Mary Chain
Fait Accompli - Curve
Pretend We’re Dead reprise at finale
Yes! What the fuck is this shitty soundtrack
It seems obvious that the Creative Director of this show asked for "deadpan" or "edgy" attitude, but Tyra can't turn off her "colorful" way.
lginpdx I worked on this collection. Marc made a point to tell Tyra to turn down her normal walk but as you can see that did not work.
+mrblf652 Tyra is an icon 💚 stop the hating
Felix Castillo
Stop the bossing!
mrblf652 you worked? I'm sorry, who are you again? 😂😂😂
I love how that bitch is super rich with that attitude and you are hurt by that.
Felix Castillo you're doing absolutely the most here
The amount of fashion LEGENDS (yes, with caps) is just incredible!!!
Nothing will beat the original models.
I hear you Sheels1976!!💁❤🙌
I’m addicted to this show I come back n watch often!!Simpler cooler times back then.
My guess is that the models knew Marc Jacobs had been fired so they naturally, understandably were "bummed" and felt badly for him. But, then, he started his own design line and made better history than P.E. :))
I love the purple outfit that Tyra wears 👌
I adore Shalom's total outfit at 14:01 including the knit cap with the tassel!:))
Marc Jacobs is brilliant. The sheer ruffled pieces. The crochet. The lush layers. ❤❤❤❤❤
❤Отличная коллекция. На мой взгляд, смотрится абсолютно актуально и сегодня, в 2023..Вне времени,Timeless.
How the hell Marc got fired after this show?
for being ahead of his time, sometimes years out.
Fashion editors at this time found the look "ghastly ". I find this show epic.
Cristina P no shit! He apparently sent the collection to Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love and she said “they burned it”. WTF
@@Fastfoodcommercial that's what all brands do now
@@sophiabadge8551 High fashion isn't very punk rock, it wasn't what they were about.
If Iwas rich I would literally buy these clothes, these looks are unbelievably beautiful ! I love them

- Marc to all the models: be sure to showcase ‘grunge’ on the runway
- Tyra: 7:10
Amazing isn’t it?
Definitely, a cool show looking back. Crazy how much longer runways are nowadays!
Take me back to this time!!!My childhood!!!
Damn ... i still see so many elements of this fashion now !!
I do too.
Love this collection, can't believe I'm looking at this iconic show in 2020. So many wonderful models and hahaha Yasmin LeBon! That was hilarious. She was gorgeous and had a sense of humor!
Lovely Collection. Historic.
iconic.
Oh man, so many Supermodels in one show...
Brings back memories
Does anyone know the music playing at the very beginning? The first time I heard it I hated it; now I'm loving and semi-obsessed. It really has a way of getting into your head!
Surprised that I didn't see Linda Evangelista.
dream living by neil Richardson toby davies & ed thomas
No matter how crazy these outfits were, those girls who showed them were crazy beautiful !
Anyone know how I can watch the full real version of this show with original music etc? I'm dying to see it!
12:51 amazing!!
Helena was STUNNING in the show
Truly. In any show she did. She's still gorgeous
the pastel leather trend! i remember that
The models constantly walking into each other is seriously making me anxious LOL
At 8:31 Shalom Harlow is Pure Beauty, Pure Innocence, Pure Gamine Enchantment. It is a moment in time magical.

This show singlehandedly catapulted Marc Jacobs to household status, and propelled grunge to the forefront of American fashion
@Charlie Baker, what made this collection iconic was it got Marc Jacobs fired from Perry Ellis, it also started his career at his own house, and later with Louis Vuitton
3:58 Christy 💕
ThePaigeBen she is still beautiful

Birkenstock yeah!!
I'd wear it all now
Ironic how the Marc Jacobs label is now more successful than Perry Ellis
how come naomi exits on the left while all the others exit on the right?
She's acts so rude and cocky; no wonder why she had problems with her anger management
probably an accident
@@ThePaigeBen 11:06 nope! She does it twice
I love those white boots, I have similar but less shiny haha
does anyone know where we can find the video with the original soundtrack?
did you find out?
Why is the catwalk so tiny? Maybe back in those days wood to build it was scarce? or too expensive? I was born in 2009 so I'm not sure what the world was like during the 90s
lol...thats just the way they wanted it.
How were the 90's?.... THEY WERE AWESOME.
You’re 8 years old? Or are you being sarcastic?
I’ve never seen a 10 year old with facial hair
Omg
Anybody know the song at 2:50?
Tyra, doing the total opposite of grunge
