I looked at a house next to an air force base. As the realtor was showing me the back yard 4 F15's took off in pairs with what sounded like full augmentation. The realtor had to stop talking while they took off. After they were gone she was just about to begin speaking again when four F16's roared over also in full burn. This was followed shortly by a pair of BONE's and what I am guessing was a tanker (3 engine, MD11/KC forgot what it was called.) The realtor thought she had lost the sale due to the jets. Honestly that was the only good point the house had was a free airshow. The answer to which of these engines sounds better I am going to say YES.

Interesting, but not complete.! From experience, on take off undoubtedly the RR is way louder with it's roar, however the GE is more of a whine, but by the time cruising power/altitude is reached the RR goes almost completely silent whereas the GE still whines, albeit to a lesser extent than on take off.

I noticed that too. The A350 is a much quiter plane than other widebodys I've flown.

The XWB sound great for a modern engine. When flying the 787, the Trent 1000 don't sound as nice as the GEnx engines. I'm still a huge GE90 fan though

Aren't they of different generations? XWB's peer should be GEnx

GEnx is old school compared to T-XWB which has no peer until GE9X is introduced which promises even better fuel efficiency.

When the fuel ignites in the engine, creating a vibration sound in the cabin which you hear

You need to add the P&W PW1000G - see if the gearbox design is quieter, better, etc.

I was flying both the a350xwb and the 77-300ER from qatar airways. According to the decibel meter app on my phone, the noise level during flight in both airplanes is exactly the same. (I even made screenshots)
Just saying because fanboys tend to say "their" aircraft is quitier and so on...

TheDustyRavage hmmm. Was it with q-suites? Did you sit somewhere above the wing? Like in the middle around there? Because i did notice sitting above the wing makes it quieter than if you sit at the back.
