Very useful Andrew. I’ve got the kit for my Alphas Air SV but had no instructions.
I'm looking forward to see this review tonight. I bought this reel in oktober last year and haven't yet open the box. I will see it tonight
Hope you enjoy it! Personally I am impressed with the reel. Hope it will work on the water well.
@@AndrewsKnots Hope you will do a new video when you are on the water with that reel. Witch rod are you going with for the reel?
It will be Kuying Teton TTC662L. I will consider doing separate video about but, if not you should see me using this reel in unrelated video and then it will mean all is good with it. 👌
Máquina demais! Show de carretilha.
you are the only one who points abt no screws placed at handle side plate..nice built reel..
Funny you mention it, I just traded my Curado BFS to a guy for his Alphas SV. I'm a very happy camper 😃
How does the SV handle lighter lures? I'm really considering getting one as an upper-end BFS/Ned Rig reel.
@@RAW040 pretty well. Down to 1/8th oz, below that it gets kinda tough unless you have a dedicated bfs spool.
@@jpap967 Awesome! Thank you for that. I'm currently using a Shimano MGL 70 for heavier Ned Rigs (1/6), and a Kastking BFS for lighter Neds (1/16 with 2.5 inch or shorter plastics). I'm eyeing this Alphas because it seems like it might be able to be an in-between of the two reels I'm currently using. A finesse TRD on a 1/10 ounce jighead weighs just over a quarter ounce on my scale. That's ideally what I want to use this reel for.
@@RAW040 the newer Alphas 800s has a shallower SV spool and can probably handle BFS lures better than the 2021 model. Same reel, just shallower
@@jpap967 Dang! I wish that reel was already out. I was just about to click "Buy" on an 800 when I saw that you had responded. I wish they would list the spool weights on these reels as a part of the spec sheets.
Hello and greetings from Canada. Great video. I am researching the Daiwa Alphas SV TW. How do you like the reel after having some time with it? Have you had any issues with accidently adjusting the brakes? Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I’m lookin to picking one of these up. Does anybody know the inches per turn in the 8:1:1???
Much appreciated and great video.
Between alphas sv tw and zillion sv tw, which one would you choose . I usually use 4-10lb rod which is the heaviest I'll go so which one do you think is better. Money is not a problem
I have both... I would get the Zillion for heavier gear M up to H. Both cast like a dream and are very close to a Shimano's DC line. No back lashes after proper adjustment on the alphas or zillion.
How does this reel compare to the ALLOY M? It's about 5x more,
Alloy M is $90 USD. Alphas SV from Japan is $180 USD. The Alloy M is a good value, but this Daiwa is just in a higher class. Smaller, lighter, better brakes and spool design, better line guide system, better bearings, etc.
the spool tension is set from the factory and does not need to be set, dont turn it!
Thanks for the nice video. I really like this reel and just installed the drag-clicker kit. One thing... you no longer get the blue-colored washer that installs after the clicker. It is now a different shape and is silver in color. Still worked well. If you are doing this installation, I would have a parts diagram handy. I had 2 washers fall out with the ball bearing that came out on you fall out. I didn't see it and had no idea where they went. The parts diagram helped get them back to the correct place. Keep up the good work on the vides and thank you!
Welcome. Thanks.
