100 Miles :O Blimey definetly a good time for audiobook listening I also have a Eric Brown to read on my shelves New York Nights i'm looking forward to starting it soon :) Good luck with the run!
I definitely need to read The Death of Grass. Too many books, too little time. I would recommend Annie Bot; an exploration into self determination. Cheers.
At least Death of Grass is a quick read, very slender. Funny, I was reading something about Annie Bot today, sounds interesting. Thanks for watching 👀!
I've mentioned him before, Daniel Keys Moran. I'm reading the Continuing Time and other Stories which is great. Moran's ability at Worldbuilding, of hinting at the vastness of the Continuing Time and the Great Wheel of Existence, which he's been working on most of his life, (he took a break to raise his kids, which I respect) is STAGGERING. We find more about the Face of the Night, the Zaradin Church, the Time War, and the Great House of November. Backstory about the family of Camber Tremodian, one of the only two human gods of the Zaradin Church...which was founded billions of years before the evolution of humans on Earth...🤯🤯🤯 Vastly underrated, combining cyberpunk, mythology, and a meditation on the future of humanity, Moran rocks on so many levels. 🤩🤩🤩
I'm touch and go with Sci-Fi, but just finished PKDs Flow my tears...., and it's simply sublime. When it's good, Sci-Fi is great, but I'm realising that I like the New Wave writers most.
I read this book again recently on a buddy read on another channel, and it reminded me of how much I love PKD. His books don’t have any dull moments, and he has this way to tear down reality with a few brush strokes and then run with it. From all authors I love to read, his voice resonates the most with me.
I don't think I'll get to any more SF this year, that said I do have a Robert Louis Stevenson collection of horror short stories I aim to get to (I do like to get in the mood!) as well as a steampunk retelling of Dickens' Christmas Carol, so y'know, trying to fit SF in somehow. A look at some more results from that survey sounds great, as does the roundup of 2024 if you get to it. Good luck with the endurance race! 📚 ❄
Check out the Quantum Magician by Derek Kunsken its a sci-fi heist story, good stuff and i never hear anyone talk about it. Also for alternative history give 1632 by Eric Flint a try. Not to sciency, just a good fun romp.
I read "The Martian Race" last year, but I think there are better Benford books like "Timescape." Also, read Christopher's "Death of Grass" last year. Great. I'm just finishing John Banville's "The Infinities" which is like Booker prize lit fic meets Roger Zelazny.
I just finished 36 Streets, a cyberppunk novel set in Vietnam by Aussie author T.R.Napper. A great read and I've already bought his followup novella. Currently on a reading break from scifi with Jekyll and Hyde - Consulting Detectives by Tim Major. I thought it would be two modern day sleuths with the same names. But no. It's the original guy, Jekyll is the sane one operating in the daytime, Hyde is the scary one operating in the night. The missing persons are building up, some of them are found dead. Can these two sort it out?
Oh for sure, there's a fair bit of walking on these things, especially up hills. V few people can run for 100 miles continuously. Thanks for watching 👀!
@@SciFiScavenger Nice to know you're a fellow runner. I'm more parkrun than ultra. Hope it went OK in this weather. If you need a 'pickmeup' afterwards try Nicholas Eames' Kings of the Wylde. I'm halfway through it and it's hilarious.

Can't go wrong with John Christopher.

I am the opposite I think, New Wave is mainly a turn off for me. I like a good spaceship! 😀 cheers Mark, thanks for watching 👀!
