- Crest toothpaste, Evelle Younger for Governor (running against Jerry Brown- Jerry Brown's now running for governor of California again, but Evelle Younger can't because he's dead), Scope mouthwash, Mrs. Butterworth's with the talking bottle (talk about false advertising!) Saturday Film Festival bumper, Obsession game from Mego, and Malt-O-Meal featuring Edgar and his talking stomach!
Appears that each alternating commercial here is on 16mm film and videotape. - Розваги
Man, this takes me back. I was reciting the Scope spot after 30+ years, and Mrs Butterworth's copy is still burned in my brain. Don Draper would smile and pour a drink...
The late great Paul Frees did it again with that Malto Meal commercial.
There's a great biography of him, from Bear Manor Books.
A young Kim Fields in the Mrs. Butterworth's commercial who would go on to play Tootie on Facts Of Life and is now a film maker/director. One of the few instances where a child star grew up and moved on successfully as she matured.
Whether it is or not, the voiceover on the Crest ad sure sounds like John Charles Daly.
...that's Charles Kimbrough in the Scope commercial!...i remember that ad very well but don't recall him in it...
Kim Fields in Butterworth commercial
@eyeh8nbc I imagine a lot of folks taped that broadcast! That was about the time VCRs became more popular and somewhat affordable. Yours probably cost around a grand I assume! Oh- thanks for the post. I really enjoy these local area commercial breaks.
2:15 I'm looking forward to buying this at an antique store or flea market next time I see it
Never could find chocolate Malt O Meal. Used to just add Nestle Quik to regular, LOL.
@dannystrat It was Hard Day's Night. Funny thing is I got a copy of the commercial breaks from this from one person, then years later from an Ebay seller I got a collection of Beta tapes that included the same broadcast, but recorded by someone else.
Jerry Brown Had Just Been Re-Elected Governor Of California.
that was taken in 5/30/78.
@dannystrat Yep- sadly I (or my parents rather) didn't get a VCR til 1985, though I begged for one years before that! Never even lived near Los Angeles either. That makes it even weirder finding 2 different copies of this same broadcast though.
I wonder which Beatles movie was on?
@dannystrat Whoops! Just read that you didn't record this!
Tootie!
who played that kid in that Malt-O-Meal commercial?
@reymatt76 Yep!
Look at Kim Fields!!!
Jerry Brown still saying No.....Yawn.
