- Santokh Singh
Santokh Singh was a Malaysian footballer who played for Selangor FA and the national team in the 1970s and 1980s. He was a successful captain and defender who won many trophies and medals, including 9 Malaysia Cups, 2 Southeast Asian Games gold medals, and a bronze medal in the 1974 Asian Games. He also qualified for the 1980 Moscow Olympic Games, but did not play due to Malaysia's boycott. He was recognized by the AFC as one of the most capped players in Asia, and was inducted into the OCM Hall of Fame. He is considered one of the best Malaysian footballers of all time by various media outlets.
As a legendary footballer, Santokh has received several awards and recognitions for his achievements. He was conferred the Panglima Mahkota Wilayah by the Yang Dipertuan Agong of Malaysia and the Order of Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah by the Sultan of Selangor in 2011. He also served as a reference for a character in the 2016 film "Ola Bola" that depicted the glory of Malaysian football.
Although Santokh Singh has retired from playing football, he is still very much involved in the sport. He currently focuses with developing football players amongst the younger generation.
SOH CHIN ANN
Soh Chin Ann is a retired Malaysian footballer who was born on 28 July 1950. He played as a defender and was nicknamed Tauke or Towkay by his fans and teammates, which means Boss in English. He is recognised by RSSSF (Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation) and IFFHS(International Federation of Football History and Statistics) as the player with the most international caps in the history of men's football, having played 219 times for his country. He also held the record for the most appearances in FIFA official matches with 195 caps, until he was surpassed by Bader Al-Mutawa of Kuwait in 2022.
Soh Chin Aun was a Malaysian footballer who represented his country in two Olympic Games and one Asian Cup. He made his international debut at 19 in the 1969 King's Cup and was the youngest player in the 1971 Olympic qualifier in Seoul. He played in all three matches of the 1972 Munich Olympics, where Malaysia faced West Germany, Morocco and the United States. He also captained the team that qualified for the 1980 Moscow Olympics, but Malaysia withdrew from the tournament due to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan.
For his achievements, he received the Ahli Mangku Negara award from the king of Malaysia. He also led Malaysia to a memorable 1-1 draw with South Korea in the 1980 Asian Cup, where he was selected as one of the best players of the tournament by the AFC, becoming the first Southeast Asian to earn this honour.
Soh Chin Aun is the coolest defender Malaysia ever had. Never seen him panic or kelam kabut. Even under the most tense situation he will come and collect the ball with his cool attitude and carry it to safety. Never have we ever seen such a quality defender ever since.
Dato Soh Chin Aun dan Dato Santokh Singh, thank you very much to both of you on you contribution to the country. We will never again have the muhibbah team
We don't see this kind of combination even with Arumugam at the goal.
That was the golden era of Malaysian football! Unlike now!
Son Chin Ann was featured in a Norwegian magazine on world football. I was pleasantly surprised and proud.
Semoga Dato-Dato Soh n Santokh senantiasa sihat selalu. Kamu memang wira kebangaan negara 1970-80an. 👍👍🙏
I am from Spore n Mr Soh Chin Ann is my favourite player even Quah Kim Song many times could not dribble past the towkay😮
remember dollah kassim-muhammah noh as one of the most prolific pair equating hassan sani-james wong with 90% goal scoring chances (my count lah) true entertainers that you are willing to wait hours before the kick-off
It's Soh Chin Aun, not Chin Ann.......
SANTOK my primary school classmate ,best football enjoy by Malaysian, wish you good health DATUK
I grew up watching them, Mokhtar Dahari , Shukor Salleh and others . Every merdeka tournament I will be at Stadium Merdeka. Ironically I ended up marrying Shukor Salleh ‘ s niece 😂. We were a great football nation in Asia during this time. Epic🎉

BUT REMAINED UNACCOUNTABLE WHEN ..RACE BECAME A " MUST "..
Is bloody gd time...Wil never ever come back..I agree what the 2 legends said..the politician have killed the sport n our relationship as Malaysians....

We
These 2 legends skills n talent are amongst the irreplaceable footballers in 70s from both sides of the causeway.💪
If Mokhtar is still around, they make a good team in and out of field, Best footballers Malaysia has ever had
I am smiling while hearing both of them talking.
My heroes
Shame they don't get much recognition for their tremendous contribution to the sport & country.
ITS GOOD TO BRING BACK GOOD MEMORIES. Thanks both for your contribution towards the Nation. U are will always be remembered.

Santokh Singh, Soh Chin Aun, Jamal Nasir, Shukur Salleh, Mothtar Dahari, Hassan Sani, James Wong, Bakri Ibni, R Arumugam
Where r those guys now? I know mokhtar passed away.
@@LimJiaKim ..I think R Arumugam has passed away too..
Recall those 1970/80s Singapore v Selangor matches.Better than EPL.
How can anyone forget the greatest football team the country ever produced & played in the 1972 Olympic in Munich West Germany. The game against West Germany-with Uli Honess.Half time 0-0.
Great interview, great conversation, great reminiscent with the legends. Together they formed the best football team we ever had
Very good in making this video.
Bring back good memories of the great Malaysia soccer team.
I am glad some of them are still around.
Both of them are Legends
I was one of the 45000 Msians in the Merdeka Stadium on the night we qualified for the Moscow Olympics.
Also in the same stadium when Sgor beat Spore 4-2 in the Msia Cup Final.
Had the autographs of both legends plus many other greats.
luv all of you...from the very bottom of my heart....ur fan for life since i was a little boy
2 great footballers. Thank you for yr sharing
Grew up watching them play for Malaysia 🇲🇾.
Truly living legends.
Thank you for the memories.
I was remember watching Malaysia Cups final 1978 (Selangor vs Singapore) via TV telecast and I was 11 years old at that time. Selangor first eleven, Rashid Hassan, Soh Chin Aun, Santokh Singh, Khalid Ali, Kamarudin Abdullah, Redzuan Abdullah, Yip Chee Keong, John Engketesu, Mokhtar Dahari, Ramli Junit and Abdullah Ali.
Selangor won 4-2, goal by Ramli Junit (2), Soh Chin Aun and John Engketesu. One of the greatest final in the Malaysia Cups history⚽
Those were the days. I went to watch Singapore vs Selangor at the Kallang old national stadium. Spectators were pushing at the staircase to go into the stadium when pandemonium broke. Such was the fever.
History has shown us over and over again that we can achieve anything if we set race aside and put meritocracy in place ... Politicians please learn from these heroes
Great our Malaysian family legend soh shin Ann❤ sontok Singh ❤Hassan SANI❤ mokthar Dahari ❤ James wong ❤ what a fantastic families wanna

True Malaysian Team
The pillars :
1. Mokhtar Dahari
2. SOH Chin Aun
3.Santokh Singh
4. R.Arumgam
5. Hasaan Sani
❤❤❤
Jamal Nasir,Khalid Ali,James Wong, Rashid Hassan..
Taukeh and Santokh formed the great wall of Malaysia, even the towering South Korean striker Kim Jae Han & speedy winger Cha Bum Ken failed to penetrate.😊😊
1981 pre world cup @ Kuwait.... still remember vividly few incidents of that tournament.
1. Training for this tournament was held at Frazer Hill under Karl Weigang, later questions were asked why train at a cold place when the tournament was to be held at a very hot location, Kuwait?
2. After the match against Kuwait, Chow Chee Keong (then playing professionally in Hong Kong), the Malaysian goalkeeper mentioned that the weather was so hot that football was like a fire ball.
3. Lim Teong Kim then 18 or 19 was in the team playing at right back, youngest player in the team
Since this debacle Malaysian football after 40+ years has not regain it's former glory till today...😢😢
I am lucky to be alive and watch these legends ❤❤❤
Privileged grew up watching them played...those born after 80s never have the chance to watch them play only watching low standard local football.
I'm agree with you bro,,,,,❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
much respect for our legends
My heroes! Also Moktar Dahari, Shukor Salleh, Hassan Sani, Arumugum, James Wong...... Great late sixties and seventies.
I’m a Singaporean female football fan,and to me both of them are legends. 🥰🥰
Fond memories from New Zealand!! Best wishes to all.
Chin Ann, Santokh, etc., formed the best defense line up.
These are amongst my 2 heroes growing up, terima kasih for all the hard work and contribution towards football that made us proud being Malaysian. May you have good health and happiness ahead, Thanks again
Great sharing they were my idol when I was in form 2 on 1981
when these guys played, they gave us goose pimples, until mahatahi became pee m and said football is a stupid game with 20 men running around chasing a ball!!!...damn that old man!!
@@athan7199 what to expect from the champion of privatisation and wawasan 2020 look east policy, success or failure should be the judgement of we, Malaysian, successful in initiating our national car project but failure to nationalise our highway project.
The best defence in Asia
DSCA....a real sweeper who sweeps anything below his knees with some kind of long stockings worn unusually
Apa yg tinggal ia lah kenangan hidup yg penuh dgn kemanisan dan kepahitan yg kemewahan tak dapat diganti...terima kasih ALLAH kerana memberi kesempatan utk hidup dgn penuh pengalaman hidup.
Our lives were blessed to have witnessed these players play in their prime
Both of you are my fsvourites. The best of good health to both of you. God bless.
Football in Malaysia was essentially a calling of Indian Malaysians that culminated in the opening of the TPCA stadium.
The team of the 70s, not only had the skill & determination but the mental strength to raise the game to top levels. Today's team have non of these qualities. Perhaps all of them need to undergo an IQ test.
Assalamuailaikum...dato chin ann...best depend the world...my mentor forever....cool and rilex depend...the legend 🇲🇾 and the world by me....😊❤
terbaek...living legend still loves football in malaysia...playing football for malaysia flag is all about,,,thanks to all the legend
As i remember they are true legends as a pro footballers, they work and playyed fror the country with passion and not money oriented like the current ones today. These are the living prove from these legends that go the extra, miles to achive it. Kudos salute to these profesional players.❤👍👍👍🏃♀️🏃
BUT NOT PAROTIC ENOUGH......!
The LEGENDS OF MALAYSIAN FOOTBALL.
Real heros of football of Malaya.
I started watching these two legends, Arumugam, Mokhtar and gangs playing when I started playing football...the usual legendary Selangor team, also watched them played for PKNS and MCIS. Those were the days we get to beat South Korea, Japan, Cameroon, Senegal with regular intervals. Those were the legendary times and these two + Spiderman were at their very best
Untuk nak bagi faham cara mudah....CR7 pun x mampu lepaih dua dua ni... hebat.. lejen... best defender in Asia during their played time...memang hebat... pesta bola merdeka, ditunggu tunggu rakyat Malaysia tika itu...best

saya pernah bertemu dgn sdr abdullah ali...di food court bandar tun razak. saya tanya r u marzuki ismaun....he said no! i know you a graduate yg terrer buat inswinger corner kick. dia kata betul, masa tengah cuci tangan. marzuki dari tganu, saya dari melaka... malu lak. so i remember AA...sorry boss, i was wrong...r u abdullah ali. he smiled and he said now you r correct. thanks pak lah...use to see you from distance kat stadium merdeka tangga ayam
peminat lama eja Soh Chin Aun
May you both be healthy and happy always.
The best team ever
Apparently these two great footballers/defenders can’t be separated from the playing field right up to this interview! It will be more interesting if the interviewer let each one of them narrate their childhood memories to their heart content as not only young viewers are interested to know more about the family background but senior citizens who grew up watching them play didn’t know much except the duo playing career representing the nation.
Terbaik
Very good lets have more content like this.James Wong?
Truely Malaysian team
Malaysia heroes....
It is Mahadie's fault ! Soh Chin Aun fired Mahadie 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🎉😂😂😂
Legend.
Wish you both in a good health.
So great to watch Towkay and Santokh play together. Santokh is tall so command the high ball. Towkay is the general, controlling play. Mokhtar is fast and strong upfront as striker. Spiderman was a good goalkeeper.
CIMB team
Dulu Korea pun takut jumpa Malaysia.. sekarang tim Malaysia layak lawan B tim Korea aje.. Kalau tak menjiwai perkataan Muhibbah, Malaysia akan ketinggalan selama lamanya dalam semua sektor.
Jgn buat memori saje. Buat team yg terbaik..
Can't find players like them now
Reka satu movie bolasepak.
Sudah ada movie Ola Bola dlm tahun 2016. . . Dato Santokh ada sama.
Legends
Nowadays players play nobody watching you all know or not
Hey guys. That was Malaysia in the 60s and 70s. You were right. I am sure you have to admit that during the Malaysia Cup when you guys played against the Singapore team you folks have fielded 12 to 14 players against the 11 players of the Singapore team. You know what I am talking about. You were certainly very comfortable with 12 to 14 players while the Singapore team was always on the receiving ends of unfair decisions by your extra invisible players. Ever heard the Kallang roars chanting "Referee kayu!". That was how it came about in case you have forgotten. No Chinese players in the SG team? You have forgotten how Singapore won your Malaysia Cup in the 1977. Don't forget our legendary Quah Kim Song, Robert Sim, Lim Chew Peng, Lim Tien Jit, Lim Teng Sai, Edmund Wee, Ho Kwang Hock, and the coach was Choo Seng Kwee. It seemed Datok Towkay Soh have had bad memory have bad memory about Chinese members of the Singapore team. The Singapore team was always up against the odd because the playing field was not level.
He was referring to the current Spore team. Not sure are there any Chinese players in the team?
He is 73 now and he may not follow everything that happened in the football world, just like me.
Last minit tu sedih pula mendengarnya.
Malaysian🇲🇾 profesional ⚽️foodballer......Good team,spo ting players👳♂️🧓🏆🏆🏅🏅
a big factor why Malaysia were so successful those days was simply the teams are multi racial ..believe it!
Both of these football giants are non malays....get the drift FAM..?
More than half of the current team players are non malays.
@@GajahMengaumTheBruce and fake msians

Why was Soh Chin Aun never given the offer to coach the nation team ?. He has a lot of sense for humour.
He was offered a role in Jangan Ketswa instead
..
Kalo team msia era dato soh chin aun bertemu dgn team msia era skrg, pasti team dato soh chin aun menang.

The Kuwait Debacle refers to the Asian Cup not the pre-world Cup qualifying match.
Nope...it was the WC qualifier at Kuwait (1981)
Now it is hard to get a house near a football field. All area are fully builded. Childrens nowaday playing on the roads. Stupid politicians had took over Malaysia football. Like a Menteri Besar who don't know about football becomes the Manager of the state team.
PM4 was the one who spoilted
Malaysia football.
Masalah sukan di negaara kuta adalah ketika politikus kuaasai persatuan sukan. Seharusnya meereka beruda ini yg terajui FAM seperti yg berlaku diseluruh dunia.
