- The last motorcycle road race in Ireland for 2023 is the Race of Legends held in the County Antrim village of Armoy in Northern Ireland. It is held on 28th and 29th July 2023. This video relates to the practice day held on Friday 28th July 2023. It is from a Raynet amateur radio operator's point of view as this is my role in the organisation of the race.
RAYNET-UK is a national body of Radio Amateurs who are pledged to provide communications in times of emergency. For me it is a really involving and interesting thing to do. If you have your amateur radio license look it up via an internet search. If you do not have an amateur radio license look for your nearest amateur radio club and they will point you in the direction of the correct training to obtain your license.
Looked like a lot of newcomers there, that's good to see. Hope they got the racing in with the weather.
The organisers did a great job getting all the races run despite the showers. Definitely a lot of orange bibs. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment.
Hi Gary
Thank you for your video buddy I really enjoyed it. Not been to Armoy since 2019 but was booked to got last year. Sadly I was invited in a car accident on the 1 st July last year, and I’m still recovering from the injuries. Hopefully by next year (I’ll be 80 next year) I’ll be able to get over to see my favourite Road Races. I usually do the Cookstown 100, NW200, Armoy (and before it was called) the ulster GP. Keep up the good work Gary take care now and all the very best to you👍
So sorry to hear of your car accident. I trust your recovery continues well. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. As I am doing the Raynet communications I can only set the camera recording as I have other things to concentrate on. I will look forward to meeting you if you get across next year. Maybe even get to buy you a birthday pint. Maybe check the Tandragee 100 races too. It is local to me and is a fabulous track. Take care and thanks so much for all your support on the channel.
The subtitles are gold. Apparently someone is racing on the east uterus.
That is really funny. Subs are automatically provided by UA-cam. I never really look at them but I really should. Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to comment.
Nice for people to see just a little of what Marshalls do to make sure the racing takes place and safely.
There are so many people in the background volunteering their time, from road marshals to flag marshals and ambulance personnel plus all the race officials I wish I could do a video on them all. It is nice you recognise their work. Many thanks for watching.
Glad it’s gone ok, pity I couldn’t get there this year.
It went great and all races were run. Fingers crossed for next year. Thanks for watching.
Bril.
Thanks so much for watching.
Good no person died great news.
It is always a worry in Irish road racing as the circuits are so dangerous being closed public road. Thanks for watching.
what camera do you use for this?
For the facial shots I used a Panasonic G7 mirrorless and for the racing it was a Canon HF G50 camcorder.
