Traveling is embedded into our relationship as we met on a Spring Break cruise in 2016. Since then, we haven't stopped traveling together in the United States and abroad. We left New York in July 2019 to travel the world and we took work with us, including starting a travel vlog. We have made it our mission to slow travel for 16 months throughout South America and Asia and to create travel videos along the way.
Due to the pandemic, we changed course and bought a van to convert into a campervan (#vanlife) to travel to all 50 National Parks in the lower 48 states (excluding Hawaii and Alaska) before Christmas. We are Brandon and Erin, follow the journey and stay tuned.
#vantour #rampromaster
Love your van!! You did a Great job giving the tour, too! The music was gentle and not annoying and your tone was perfect. Also, you didn't talk too much. Lovely cozy van!
Thanks so much! It was harder than you'd expect but I'm glad it came off well!
Love it...we have similar stories! :) Love what you guys did and I need that table!!!
Awesome! Thank you, yes the Lagun mount table is amazing, the versatility is unbeatable
Such a nice conversion. The colors are soothing and you have the comforts of home.
Thanks so much! We love our little home on wheels!
Light'n bright, small but spacious, with all the necessities ....well done !
Thanks so much!
They did a great job on the Van guys, greetings
Thanks so much!!
A very impressive van build and an even better van tour. You two are naturals for UA-cam.
A thumbs up 👍
Thanks so much! Really appreciate it! 🙌
Your van is great. Thank you for your generosity and for all the details, I kept your video for inspiration. Bravo
Thank you for watching! If I can build it, anyone can - I had 0 experience before starting. Best of luck to you!
Love ❤️ the backslash 😊
Beautiful build!!! It's homey !!!
Thank you! We were shooting for a homey, cozy feel!
Love the exterior paint color and the interior is great!
Thanks so much!
Great build! Totally functional and cozy! Well done!
Thank you! That was the hope - it turned out better than we envisioned it would which is all you can really ask for!
Have fun and take care and take it easy and enjoy it
Thanks, we are loving it!
Wow!! So nicely done! I'm looking at getting a pro master in spring so it's encouraging to see how nice your van turned out:)
You'll love the Promaster! It drives so well, front wheel drive makes it feel like a normal car even though it's pretty big. Best of luck with your conversion!
Have a nice trips Yep!
I like your van and the room its look like a real room in a house..
That was the idea! I'm glad you like it, thanks for watching!
Hi from France ...
Thanks for this vidéo ...😍😍👍
Good job guy ...👏👏
Thank you!
vanlife4ever!
First time here. Enjoyed content
They look nice! Everything is nice 👌
Thank you!
Beautiful couples
Thank you!
Buen vídeo enhorabuena y gracias por partilla, saludos.
Si buen vídeo saludos
Very nice.
Nice job and video
Very nice build. What material did you use for the cabinets? They came out great. Thanks.
When you’re done traveling perhaps you’ll come back to New York and begin to build bands there is such a need in this area for van builders
Not a bad idea! Definitely something to consider. It's such a big project though, I don't know if I could do it on a regular basis!
Travel Atlas: I love ur engagement ring.
Thanks so much!
New subscriber. Great van build. I look forward to going to all of the National parks with you.
Thanks so much! Welcome and thanks for watching!
Great job on the van!
Thank you!
Great video! You showed my duck too!!! 😁
All Erin's idea!
Why do most people do a platform bed instead of a hydraulic bed? Is it just for the trunk area? A hydraulic bed is #1 on my list because it would be very difficult for me to have to convert a seating area to a bed every day, and I definitely want a large seating area. It would be my office and craft area.
Yeah for us it was the trunk, and coming home to a bed that was always made and immediately ready to get into was worth the space that you're missing during the day.
Nice job look good I have a 2018 promaster 1500 had 11000 now 62000 nd no trouble I love livening in it stay in Florida around Tampa
Awesome! I could imagine the year round warm weather would be nice, we are having some cold mornings out west now!
I enjoyed your video. I am having a van like yours build for me. I am searching for a mattress. Did I miss it on your list? What brand of mattress did you buy? Thanks!
Thank you! I have added the mattress to the description but I'll also add it here: amzn.to/37HRLDf
We like it because it's firm for a foam mattress, but to get some softness we threw a mattress topper on top and it's perfect. Best of luck to you with your build!
Lovely storage & home. Ur sink is as big as ours, we live in a 3 bed semi in UK.
Thanks! The sink is often tiny in vans but I don't know how people manage - we need every inch we have in this sink!
@@travelingatlas stay safe & fit on ur journey. xx 🚐♡♡
Nice! I have a similar except low roof. I’m 5’1” so it works for me. I need screens. Where did you get yours and are you happy with them?
If I remember they were Maglo (something like that?) Got them off Amazon and had to cut them to get them to fit correctly
I like the way you set up your van and that’s the set up by eventually would like to do. I know this might seem like a minor detail but where did you get your door mounted spice racks? Thanks, Joe
They are linked in the description, just got them from Amazon but they have worked really well.
@@travelingatlas thank you
I like that little rack you have to hold the spices. Where do you get those?
From Amazon! Here's the link: amzn.to/2HAuOGY
Hi new friends. Have clicked all your buttons and glad to be along for the adventure. Love your plan to visit all the national parks. We love the national parks and want to get to more of them!! Amazing job on the rebuild. Love the white inside to brighten up the space. We have some videos you may enjoy. Hope you can check them out.
Hi, I’m a new subscriber & really enjoyed your van. Happy New Year 🎆 & safe travels.
Thank you for subscribing! Happy new year to you as well
Thanks for the tour! Beautiful! How did you handle the license plate transition, between the purchase of the van and the actual window and bed installation?
We told the dealership our intention to put the bed and the window in and they gave us passenger plates. Super easy!
@@travelingatlas Thanks for your reply. And again, bravo! I just only found your channel and subscribed. 👍🏼👍🏼
We are so in need of a 136 WB pro master just like this.... tough to find one as beautiful as this in this size!!! Could it be done with a low roof, I wonder?
Thank you! The problem with the low roof is you might not be able to stand up in it anymore, which would be a real detriment.
@@travelingatlas I so know what you mean! And I totally agree.... I’m under 5 feet and shrinking daily.... lol. We are having difficulty finding vans in our area for sale that meet ‘hubby’s criteria’. If it was just me, I would have bought my high roof by now. His wants are completely different than mine. I’d buy a 159’ with a high roof and be on my adventurous way! 🤗🤗🤗🤗
Never heard Lagun pronounced like that. I usually hear it pronounced the same as "lagoon"
We are probably pronouncing it wrong 😂
👌👌but couldn’t take shower in city like your setup. Inside van !
You're not wrong about that! But space is limited in the 136" wheelbase, you pretty much have to have the 159" to have a shower inside
Could you post a link to the side and rear screens? Nice build out BTW.
I added them to the description now but I'll also add them here:
MAGZO Bug Screen (side door): amzn.to/2HtcgIW
MAGZO Bug Screen (back door): amzn.to/3jryA2E
Thank you!
didnt see a link for the window you got, haven’t seen a small square one like that. where did you happen to get that?
It's an RV replacement window, I wouldn't really recommend it - it's not really designed for a van. It's too thick, so we had to design a custom frame to put in between the inside of the van and the window to make it fit. It works great, but it wasn't easy.
Great build!!!! Can I ask what size dimensions of your upper cabinets are?
Thank you!! If memory serves me correct, I believe I made them 12 inches high and 14 inches deep. The decision for depth was really just enough so our pots and pans would fit!
Wow..
Thanks!
How much is total weight of van after all these new installation ? It must have become too heavy as you added too many things .
We aren't sure about the actual weight, but I can tell you that after living in it full time for 2 months and driving over 10,000 miles that it's not too much weight - fuel efficiency is essentially the same as before the conversion and it makes it up hills no problem. Thanks for watching!
Is this the shorter sprinter?
What’s the model for the fridge?
It’s perfect for solo travel
Also the hubby looks like Mike Skinner from the British band The Streets.
Here is the link for the fridge: www.etrailer.com/RV-Refrigerators/Everchill/324-000110.html
Lol never heard that one before!
@@travelingatlas Cheers for the info.
Safe travel and all the best.
I see you guys route 195 in providence Rhode island 195
We are waving to you! Just passing through back to NY.
One question
How where you able to get a vehicle weight slip? In order to have it registered under passenger in NY, any modification that will alter its classification, it requires a weight slip. Im from NY and I’m curious as to where to get a weight slip when doing all the work yourself. This is one of the questions that has been in my head for a while now and when I do get a van I would like to have passenger plates on it. Thank you and sorry for the long question.
If I'm being honest, I think you're over thinking it. The used car dealership gave us passenger plates when we said we were going to convert it - then we just had to put a bed in and a passenger side window to make it legal.
@@travelingatlas thank you 🙏🏼 didn’t think about just asking the dealer.
support our vacation haha
trust you have already picked up from Kara & Nate, but be careful when filming at national parks and have a (monetising) YT channel.
How crazy is that? The part that did them in was the income reports... Without those we will be fine, but I feel bad for them!
So where's the shower????
Off the backdoor! We show it in the video.
May i know the estimate of the van cost alone and the material cost for the inside? thanks alot :)
We aren't disclosing this publicly because it's offered in an exclusive video on our patreon site. If you want to learn more you can join over there!
Waaaaaw
Hello fellow NYers
What up! 🙃
@@travelingatlas Clifton Park, NY....Workin on my 2nd van and just bought a new promaster to start on shortly.
Does the butcher block add much weight to the van?
The butcher block isn't light, but I think we saved a lot of weight by using peel and stick floor/tile, and also the shiplap for the walls was very light. It's all a balancing act, but these vans can handle more than you think they can.
Thanks for the reply and info.@@travelingatlas
What water purifier did you get?
Here's the link: amzn.to/3eow6kY
I recommend it, it's worked out really well so far and pretty easy installation.
Where did you find your shower mat?
We found it from Amazon, it's been awesome I highly recommend it. amzn.to/31HtIAu
You could stop in one area and do van build or consult lots of us without experience trying to start van life
what does the van do 0-60 MPH?
Honestly no idea. We drive it carefully because it's our home. It's not the fastest vehicle, but we don't have issues getting up to speed on the highway.
Way too much silverware for 2 people in a van. I'm nit picking though; nice van set up.
You're not wrong, especially during covid when you're not actively looking to share!
Oh. In city does not work without inside shower !!
You're absolutely right! If we got the 159" wheelbase van which is longer we would have added a shower inside but we didn't have the room for it!
So where is your shower?????????
Off the back door as shown in the video.
Lol a membership. Ok. Good luck
Why the need for passenger plates, and what is the gas mileage that you get with the van? Oh and what size is the van, thanks.
Passenger plates allow you to drive on Parkways legally in New York state, the gas mileage I would estimate is around 16-18 MPG, and the van is 136" WB high top.
If I wanted to live in a mousetrap complete with rats and roaches from 2 to 6 legs while paying a king's ransom for the privilege, I'd definitely move to NYC. Thus, comparing a custom build van with those places it's kinda low bar, I think.
Thanks for watching!
Very nice design. But I don't like that toilet. That's only disappoint
Trust me, after spending 5 months in the van we love the toilet... Couldn't imagine van life without it!
@@travelingatlas Ya ok frds. Good luck. Can you share ideas for conversion and electrical plumbing ideas.
@@travelingatlas started following you in instagram. Good luck couples happy van life 😍😍😍
We go together like a vocado?
doesnt make sense...
The sign says "We go together like avocado and literally everything" we are slightly avocado obsessed some might say 🤷
people with too much money problems
Lol I wish!
It’s gorgeous you guys! Looking forward to seeing your journey.
Thank you so much!!
do you have hot water?
No hot water, we thought of putting it in but decided against it. Would have been nice for the shower, but it would have added complexity in the plumbing and propane lines.
